Vitamins
My doctor has told me to take liquid or chewable vitamins everyday. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good brand that's not very expensive. Thanks.

Keeping it a secret?
tapshoes, that is a great response! I will have to remember that one!

What's a reasonable cost for a Psych Eval?
That's too bad. You should call around to some other psychiatrists and see what they charge.

What's a reasonable cost for a Psych Eval?
$1200 is way too much. A social worker did mine for $95. Look in the yellow pages for one, and you will probably find one to do it for you very cheap. Good luck.

Thank you!

Keeping it a secret?
I know what you mean about bitchy coworkers, I have several! I haven't told my Dad, only because I know he will worry about me too much during the surgery. He is 70 and had triple bypass not long ago, so I don't want him to be stressed about me. I will probably tell him later on. (My Mom and Dad are divorced and they never talk, so no chance of her telling him).

Keeping it a secret?
I haven't told my coworkers either, and it has been a little hard to keep it a secret from them. I had to tell a lie about why I needed off, and I really hated lying. But they are the same as others, they are against weightloss surgery. And we are nurses in a doctor's office! We deal in pain management and they always have comments about patients who have had WLS, but they also have negative comments about patients who are overweight. And the ironic thing is, they are all FAT too! I am also having trouble with my husband not being very supportive. He keeps bringing up all the bad stuff that can go wrong, like I need to hear that. And my mother is just totally avoiding the subject. I kinda wish I hadn't told her.

Got My Surgery Date!!!
I am scheduled for May 22, one week after you. I know what you mean about throwing up! I am very nervous as well. Good luck!

Dr. Visit tomorrow....
I felt the same way as you. My surgery is scheduled for May 22, and I am still very nervous, but not like I was. Most of the nervousness you are feeling will pass. Not all of it, but it will get better. I am still nervous, but I am also excited and ready to get the surgery over with. I think everyone here has felt the same as you. Just wait it out and you will feel better.

May 22nd!!!!
My date is also May 22. I can't wait! I only have to be on preop liquids for 24 hours prior. I don't think I could do much longer! Good luck to everyone!

Great West Healthcare
Hi, I think some plans have already merged here. I haven't heard in any changes in coverage, but we are usually the last ones to know.
-
Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
Thanks, epm! It's nice to know that I am not the only one who is nervous. I only have to do the preop liquid diet for 24 hours before surgery. I am glad because I don't think I could do it any longer! Good luck!

Submitting paperwork from psych eval and nutritionist
LOL, you could ask the surgeon's office, and see if they might can help you get reimbersed. Thankfully, my doctor's office had a package for $95 that included the psych and nutrition evals. I think it might just depend on which plan you have. There are really good ones and really bad ones, and I think mine is somewhere in the middle.

Great West Healthcare
Hi, I work in a doctor's office and we just found out that Great West has merged with Cigna, so you might have to meet Cigna's requirements. I would call the number on the back of the card and ask.

CIGNA - questions about 5 yr history of 40 BMI
I have Cigna as well. My surgery is scheduled for May 22. I didn't have to provide my weight for the last 5 years, only all the diets I have tried in that time frame. I think they look more at your weight during the doctor supervised diet. They want you to have lost some during that 6 months time frame. I think they want to see a 10% loss. If you have any comorbidities, it is easier to get approved with a BMI of less than 40. By the way, I was denied twice before they finally approved it, so don't give up! Good luck!

Submitting paperwork from psych eval and nutritionist
Hi, I have Cigna as well, and they did not cover any of my nutrition or psych evals. I don't know if there are other plans besides mine that cover them, but you might want to call the number on the back of your card and ask them.

Would You Wear a Mini-skirt?
Yes, I can just imagine. That is why so many schools have dress coded now.

Would You Wear a Mini-skirt?
I know, that is SO gross! What's bad too is when bigger girls wear tiny strapless tank tops with everything hanging out! I would die!

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
Hi everyone, I'm not in Texas, but I am in Tennessee! My surgery is scheduled for May 22. I was really scared, but now I'm getting pretty excited! I look forward to talking to everyone!
-
Would You Wear a Mini-skirt?
Well, since I'm a nurse, I better not wear one at work! But anywhere else, I would seriously consider it! But I would actually prefer to wear some really low rider jeans with a short top showing my skinny belly! (When I get one)!

Keeping it a secret?
I have only told my husband and my mother, and I only told her today. (My surgery is scheduled for May 22). I don't plan on telling anyone at work. They are all very judgemental and jealous of everything, so it would only make it worse to tell them. I don't plan on telling anyone else, but I'm sure my mother will spread it around the family, she can't keep a secret. But I don't really care. Like someone else said in a previous post, the people who make fun of me now for being fat will probably be the same ones making fun of me for the band. But I am only trying to please myself, so I am not going to worry about what they say. My husband was against it at first, and he still thinks I'm insane for doing it, but he is supporting my decision. My mother didn't really say much when I told her. She didn't believe I am 100 pounds overweight (I hide it very well), but she has always struggled with her weight as well, so I think she understands.

sex?
LOL, renewedhope, that's great to know! Hopefully ours will get MUCH better after I lose some weight and gain some confidence.

sex?
My husband would die if he had to wait 8 weeks!!

Cigna approved finally!
Thanks! Where is the June 08 thread?

Surgery on Tuesday - Scared
Hi everyone, I am scheduled for May 22, and like everyone else, I am really scared as well. Earlier this week, I was seriously considering canceling. But then I started thinking about all the things I want to do that my weight doesn't let me do. I saw some sexy low rider jeans at the mall the other day and I was thinking how nice it would be to be able to wear them! I am still pretty scared, but I am starting to get a little more excited. I go to the preop class next week and I think I will feel alot better after that. Good luck to everyone!
