I’m almost two years out and down 110 to 115 pounds. EVERY single long stall I had was because I needed to up my calories. As soon as I did the scale moved.

I actually had a 2 bites of a chicken soft shell taco last night and 2 bites of refried Beans at a Mexican place for my daughters bday. Her pick. It was first time that I had eaten out since surgery. I tried the shell to see if I could tolerate and I did fine. Today my stall broke. Been stalled for 7 days. So I think there’s truth in that statement!!

U know what i thought i was gonna have the same problem i love coke! But once i started my 2 week preop diet it helped alot to wein myself off of it, now that i had my sleeve 4 minths out i dont crave it too much, i do have diet coke every now and then as a treat. I wasnt able to handle carbonation for like 2-3 months because it burned my stomach and gave it a icky feeling. If u cant get over having coke out of ur life maybe drink it less bubbly with alot of ice.

Prior to my complications I ate out frequently as I hate cooking. I think one of my first truly solid meals was takeout from my favorite habachi place. If I ate in a restaurant I put food on a salad plate and immediately have them box the rest. Leftovers for a few days or excited roommate getting free food! I’d also drink a glass of Water, iced tea, whatever before I ate. If I ordered to go I initially weighed out 6 oz (didn’t always finish) but now I simply eat intuitively because of my pretty life altering complications. Stopped really tracking once I mostly lost the ability to eat solid food. I even splurge on chocolate and some sugar from time to time since I typically eat so little.

If people find it weird they don’t say anything. I went out for thanksgiving with my mom (sleeved end of August), got a Soup, steak, potatoes and something else. Had a cocktail (shhhh don’t tell ) the yummy soup, and 3-4 bites of steak, potatoes and green Beans then a few bites of pecan pie. I honestly don’t really stress about good or “bad” foods since the majority of my diet is healthy or liquids [emoji58]. About once a month I get in n out. Sometimes do Protein style depending on my carbs and workout for the day, but other days do a bun since I only eat 1/3-1/2. Bun seems to go down easier than the lettuce.

My biggest treat was a sham feeding test where you chew and spit out all the food and drink. It tests for vagus nerve damage. I got a spicy chicken sandwich from jack and curly fries which were my Achilles heal. Best meal I didn’t eat!

    Sorry for being long winded...insomnia

Hi Jane, no I haven't found anything else abroad. I did go for a consultation for corrective surgery with another surgeon in Poland, but decided it wasn't for me. I'm so glad I did as I have come across some other bad stories of surgery in Poland by the same surgeon and 2 others. So much so I would now never go abroad for surgery ever again. Cosmetic surgery is fraught with dangers anyway, we all know there are risks attached, but if something happens, you need to be at home. If you have surgery and then find there is a problem when you get home, you find the surgeons in Poland don't want to know, and they know it is very difficult to sue a surgeon abroad, so they just move on to the next unsuspecting person. I went to the Nuffield in Chester and a surgeon called Douglas McGeorge. He has done the best job he could have possibly done to correct my breasts, and I am thrilled with the results. I will always have the terrible scarring, and possibly may need more surgery in the future, but for now they are looking so much better. The Nuffield hospital was something else! I could have stayed there for a couple of weeks, the food was amazing, and care second to none - so different to Poland! I also had an arm lift while I was there, and the result is fab. He has put the scars right on the underside of my arms, so if I lift up my arms, you can't see the scar from the front or the back". The only time you could see them would be if I had my arms by my sides, and you would see the scars from the back. The cost here wasn't that much more than abroad, and when I look back at what I and others have been through, it's really not worth trying to save that little bit extra cost. My friend is having a consultation for a facelift with Douglas McGeorge, so I'll let you know how she gets on :-) xx

I felt the exact same way. I watched a ton of YouTube videos of people who had wls and they all mentioned feeling the regret in the first couple of weeks. And it’s not just a small feeling of regret that you can get over by watching a funny movie or taking a walk. I was giving myself extreme love and self care, forcing myself to take walks even when I felt too down, etc., and still spent two weeks in what I would consider one of the lowest depressions of my life. The fog is slowly lifting and it does get WAY better when you can start having more substantial food items and not just broth and Water. It WILL get better. I identify so strongly with what you describe. It’s a mourning process for many people. food has always been my best friend and my comfort, and with this surgery I have chosen to kill my best friend. It’s an actual time of grieving and don’t let anyone make light of that for you. Hugs.

Hello, I'm Thom, first post here.

I'm not usually one to share, but I need some advice here.
I had the VSG on 12/1, and everything had been going well till today. So let me give a little back story. I broke my back two years ago, had several spinal surgeries including a 3 level fusion with hardware. I gained 70 lbs while hurt. I'm not able to be very active, so I chose to have the sleeve to loose weight. I went from $115k+ a year to the state max on workers comp, which put a big strain on us financially. In October, comp cut my checks till I have a hearing in front of the industrial commission to determine my life long compensation amount. So we've been living on her income alone.
Today, when im 6 days post op, she wants to call me names because I couldn't cook the kids supper. The smell of food makes me nauseous after surgery. Then she tells me I'm a bum, because of this surgery, and has been treating me like ****.
I really don't know how to deal with this right now. I've never been emotional in my life, but this surgery has affected me some how. What should I do?

Savings and inheritance from my mom passing. I have accounts that are separate from my checking that an allotment gets deposited every two weeks. I never miss the money and they aren't connected to debit cards so I can't pull money unless I go to the actually bank. Every now and then I login to the online site and see the benefits. It actually builds up fast.

I was in group session at my bariatric surgeons office and one of the fellow rny bypassers stated she can feel her remnant stomach...can even burp it. I've never even thought about my other stomach thats floating around still. It kinda blew my mind. So i was wondering if anyone else feels it.

I'm a little more than 8 months out from my bypass/hernia repair and have lost about 95 pounds. I've had a few long stalls (like 2 months) and both times the NUT told me to increase to 800 on the first one and 1000 on the second one and 1200 on the third one and I started losing again and broke the stall. Its so counterintuitive for sure but I am a big believer in eating more to lose. Good luck!

I'm almost 4 months post bypass and have lost about 62 pounds so far. I honestly didnt start exercising (walking and riding my bike) until about a month ago. I also had terrible nausea for almost the first three months. You have the rest of your life to exercise dont stress about it right now just do what you can when you can! Good luck!

Hello, i totally get you, i used to be in your shoes, but my nutriologist said to me "your work its to follow my instructions and excersice, dont weight yourself at home, thats my job, if u dont drop weight its me who should be worried" and i did that i locked my weighing machine, and i only get my weight at my appointments, trust me we all wanna see the difference in a matter of days, i mean we are eating less than a baby, and the cravings and our body is crazy in those moments, just give it a little time and you will see the results. In my case i weighted my self 3 to 4 time per day so i was kinda falling into obsession, im doing my job and the weight will drop by its own.

Dont worry, its the best thing you could have done.

So sorry you have been through so much. I was not aware I even had a hiatal hernia till after surgery. Just figured all obese people felt the way I did. The reflux was to the extent that my doctor ordered a preop endoscopy. Found out I have Barrett's Esophagus. Good news is that my RNY bypass on 7/13 repaired the hernia and has now fixed the GERD so it will no longer speed up the progression of the Barrett's. Plus I would not have known about the Barrett's if it were not for my surgeon. There's been some very minor complications here and there, but I have no regrets at all. And the way my health was going due to my obesity? I had compendium risks either way. Hope this helps & keep posting questions!
