I was told to wait a minimum of 3months post op. Had one wine cocktail on my birthday (at the 3 month mark) and felt tipsy half way through it.

Good luck! I had a stabbing sensation from time to time while healing those first few weeks and was told it was likely scar tissue forming.

Today a stranger called me skinny... Sitting in a doctor's office a woman I used to be comparable in size to asked me to trade seats with her because I had (out of old habit) sat down in a bigger chair without arms and the only seat left was a smaller chair with arms.
She walked over and blushingly embarrassed and asked if I would mind moving over to the other seat so she could sit down too. I smiled politely and told her of course. She joked that some chairs were for skinny people like me and some were for fat people like her.
I felt the hurt in what she said. I remembered it, I knew the bitter taste of those words.
I moved that armed chair closer to the unarmed chair and told her a year ago I would have needed that bigger chair. I told her I understood and that I was sorry I was thoughtless enough to even require her to ask me to trade in the first place.
We talked for a while. I told her about my RNY bypass and how in 11 months I was down 120lbs. I lost a person. I told her that in my head I still look for the bigger seats because that person from a year ago still lives in my head. I only see a real difference in pictures. The biggest change I made for myself because of that realization was to take lots of pictures. Everyday I show myself the progress I have made because I can't see it in the mirror that clearly. I showed her my pictures and she was amazed. We discussed my before and current stats including weights and measurements.
I made a friend today. She called me skinny and it felt foreign and bizarre but we touched each other's lives and found a common bond.

I found a couple of people who were either close to my area or had similar issues and just started messaging them.

I slept on our couch for the first three weeks. Eventually got back to the bed but it's totally normal to take a while. Hang in there!

Good luck to you all. If spouses do not want wls, then make sure as your emotions change from surgery that you assure them that you are still attracted to them and value their company. It might be tough from time to time, and they may feel insecure, jealous, angry at your changes and unknowingly or knowingly sabotage your progress.
In my first marriage when I would diet and lose weight insecurity would cause him to bring home all kinds of goodies to tempt me or want me to eat out and get a 'garbage basket' appetizer, etc. Now he wasn't overweight, but an insecure alcoholic that figured if I lost weight I would leave (I left fat, because I couldn't take the alcoholism)

Haven't posted on this site for almost a year. I was sleeved 03-16-16 by Dr. Laura July in Minneapolis, MN. No complications. The last year has been wonderful. I started at 270lbs in October 2014. On surgery day I was 250lbs. As of today I am 158lbs at 5'7.

    Hello Mike,
I just wanted to tell you I'm almost 7 weeks out and I don't feel frustrated or dissatisfied....I just feel like something's missing. Like, I have everything I NEED....just not everything I WANT. I don't feel hunger like I used to...and I definitely don't ever feel the same type of FULL that I used to. food isn't really AMAZING to me anymore...it's more like a "brushing your teeth" kind of thing. Although I have these feelings...I definitely am happy with the weight loss.
I hope there are some people who have had the surgery 1 plus years ago who give you a good answer.
I wish you luck with your decision.

Perfectly said. Someone came up to me the other day and said, "don't you wish you would have lost the weight before your daughter's wedding." Meaning, don't you wish you looked skinny in her wedding photos. I thought about it a long while and realized, I have no regrets. That was me a year ago, this is me now. I don't cringe looking at the pictures, I think, girl, you had some issues. Slowly, I am figuring them out and letting them go, one by one.
