I got through 5 1/2 months of waiting only to find out that my insurance dropped the 6 month wait period over 3 months ago! The dr office didn't know about the policy change even though many of their patients are covered by Highmark BCBS. The only reason I learned about the change was from another poster on this forum. I don't know how to feel about those months, so I'm looking forward and keeping positive.
I wish you all of the best!

You know, now that I think about it; vent away. This is exactly the place to blow off the steam. Many times I vented on something that in hindsight was trivial. But in the moment, it's something that just needs to be said to get it out of your head.

    A) To your insurance company, you are not an individual. They cater to the least common denominator to make sure everyone has your nutrition knowledge - in their minds, it's better to over-educate you than under-educate someone else. Given some of the questions I've seen on here over the last several months, some people still aren't getting enough education.

To your quote I left above - ever think that's the point? A six month wait is a giant staring contest. If you blink first and quit, they win because they don't have to pay. They hope people are overwhelmed by all the hoops and drop out. This was my surgeon's opinion too, by the way.

Hang in there. You are so close to winning the staring contest a d getting what you want. Sometimes in life, we have to play games we don't want to...

At 3 weeks, I was eating cottage cheese, yogurt, applesauce, well cooked veggies, eggs, cheese and Beans. At 3.5 weeks I was also able to add fish and nuts. By 4 weeks, I was eating chicken. I am 4.5 weeks out now, and I no longer need Protein Shakes. I can meet my daily Protein goals by eating all real food. It was the chicken that really gave me a protein boost to get off the shakes. Also, I was told not to worry about calories right now. My focus is 60g of protein, and at least 64oz of Water. The protein is no problem for me anymore, but the water is like a full time job trying to get it all in every day!

Yup. Surgery in October and colder than everyone else almost all the time. I used to notice it when i was restricting calories or fasting pre surgery but this is crazy. I was always sweaty and couldn't wait for fall. Now i can't believe i can't wait til spring or summer.

Yep. I have a heated mattress pad on my bed, otherwise I would freeze at night.

YES!! I was sleeved 9/27 and in the last month I noticed that my hands are freezing as well as my feet at times. It mostly happens at night but it takes awhile to heat up. When I do I can go from warm to cold really fast

I haven't related it to eating but I'm definitely a lot more cold now. Especially my hands.

8 mos out I've always been able to pretty much eat or tolerate anything HOWEVER. eggs and apples don't sit well. they make me queezy. I don't have reflux or anything I just have a nauseated feeling after eating eggs or apples.

Its not only the o2 monitoring its the fact that nail polish and tips and those things can harbour bacteria... No matter how much you clean them they arnt ever really clean... So some places wont let you do to the risk of infection... Trust me if you ever seen a staph infection in a surgical wound you'd understand where they're coming from. Where i work anything on your nails is completely banned, its simply not worth the risk to the patients or the risk to bring something home.

Depending on the nail polish or false nails, the oximetre won't pick up your oxygen saturation. I'm a nurse and most of the time it works fine, even with nails, but sometimes it won't pick up and it's a pain in the arse to have to deal with that as they are trying to get you set up for surgery.

I was told the same thing before my surgery. End up doing my nails all but one for them to do the oxygen level for surgery.

I have a 18 yr old, 15, 12, 10... I haven't told them because they will tell the entire church, school etc and I'm just not ready to disclose my personal business. My surgery is on the 20th so I'm going to tell them I had Gallbladder surgery.

This plus sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles and broth are all that I am allowed for the next 3 weeks (give or take).

Don't postpone your surgery. Bring your husband and son with you. Even if your husband and son have to stay in the waiting room at least they will be there. Your daughter could come later that day to take your son home.

Please don't cancel your surgery. If nothing else, keep your son out of school for one day. I would hate for any child to miss a day of instruction, but this is a special situation, and I'm sure he can make the work up. (In fact, just speak to the teacher tomorrow, get his assignments, and he can work on them in a part of the hospital where he is allowed to be.)
    Good luck!

Yeah! I wouldn't have blueberries yet. Unless you cook them and mash them then mix them in the yogurt! I would just try to get Protein shakes/soups in at this point! That was me anyways. Would a yogurt have filled you up before surgery??? Just saying! I could eat a whole plate of Mexican food, 2 basket of chips and salsa and fried ice cream with 2 pina coladas or 2 pops and that was just dinner. LOL! Now if we go to Mexican, my husband orders the fajitas and I have just a little of the meat and veggies (about 1/2 cup)and a bite or two of Beans and I'm done! It is great that you aren't having any real issues, are you losing weight?

I had liquid hydrocodone 5mg/375mg (it's got Tylenol in it) and I alternated that with a shot of extra strength liquid adult Tylenol (500 mg). After I got home though, I really only needed the hydrocodone to sleep at night for about a week the rest I just stuck to regular doses of Tylenol every 4-6 hours. It all depends on how you tolerate pain. I will say though, stay on top of the pain don't try to wait and see if it will get worse bc it takes forever for the pain meds to kick in when you're feeling crappy.
