sleevinpops reacted to SleevePanda in 5 days away..... I am nervous wreck!
My surgery is 5 days away.... I'm excited and nervous at the same time, I keep look at this body that I've had a love/hate relationship with since I can remember and now I see it in a whole new way. I look at it and feel it and think "wow.... I've struggled with you for so long and now, you'll be gone"
I'm scared y'all! What will it look like after, will I struggle with the "new me" will I miss myself? I keep reading horror stories about hair loss and tragic, excess skin.... is it all worth it? My primary goal for surgery is to aliviate my chronic back pain, knee pain and other body disconforts and live a healthier, active life. But, will it be like I hope it will be? I don't know and that is one scary thought

James, after such change to your body, it is not uncommon to feel like you do. Keep focused on the reasons you did this and the positive changes that are to come. 18 pounds is a great start, and while the weight loss will be great in the long run, think about all of the things you will be able to do that was difficult before.

What are some things that you have always wanted to do before but haven't been able to? Keep positive, your gonna do great!

By the way, walking has been the best thing for my gas. Keep moving!

Pillow for the ride home, slippers and bathrobe if you prefer and change of clothes for when you leave. They will give you gasx, biogenesis, cepacol (sore throat), and toiletries if you need em.

Thrift stores are great. Not only can you find some clothes really cheap but think of all the steps walking around while shopping!

I was able to get 2 jackets, three pants and a few polo shirts for about $20! After dry cleaning I'm still under $50 for everything!

Carol, the Fitbit is great. But start by just trying to walk 10 minutes each hour. You will be amazed how many steps you'll get in!

If you get a Fitbit, I'm in a group of other sleevers that have regular step challenges. If you want to join in, friend me on Fitbit at vban@charter.net

sleevinpops got a reaction from Amy Sty in I cannot decide if I should do this or not
I had similar background...high blood pressure, apnea, cholesterol and pre diabetic when I finally made the decision. After years of struggling with weight, I did not want to die of a heart attack and not be there for my wife and especially my kids.

The surgery is not a quick decision to make, and remember, it is only a tool to help change your lifestyle and improve your health.

I am now two weeks post surgery, feeling great and already prior meds have been cut in half. I go for sleep test in late March and god willing, will no longer need CPAP.

This was my experience, I wish you all the best while making yours.

You don't have to tell them anything. You will come back slightly smaller, but you might be losing weight before surgery too. You'll be eating smaller and healthier, and they will see it

Stretching is going to be key. Before and after the workout, spend at least 10 minutes stretching. When you workout, remember it is to just about fatigue, don't over do it. Light weight, slow easy and multiple repetitions. Focus on breathing and form while you do it.

sleevinpops got a reaction from Newme17 in My first time eating pizza!
I found a better way and MUCH less expensive way...make your own. Google chicken crust pizza. Basically take ground chicken, season, flatten onto 6" pizza round or pan, pre bake, then add your toppings!

My wife tried it this weekend to get used to this type of cooking, she used fat free bacon and ranch dressing (low cal & sugar, no carbs), grilled chicken, garlic and bacon bits, then low fat mozzarella cheese. She couldn't stop raving! Gonna try marinara, mushroom, onion, spinach and mozzarella next time.

I think I'll start a posting for recipe ideas!

You need to forget about the carbonated beverages! Didn't your surgeon go through this with you? It expands your stomach and can do damage as well.

You've come this far, stay focused, you can get past the urges!
