NuGo Slim - Vegan Protein Bars
I haven’t gotten in to eating bars really. I’d say I’d like to try them but I know I probably won’t buy any. Lol. But this is a great reference for me to come back to in case I get stuck having to eat bars for some reason! I’m glad you found some to work with ya. Now...enjoy eating them very slowly on your pre-op!!!! Lol. It gets easier after the first few days, I promise. ?

Cigna open access plus
I’m in Texas too and have the same insurance. I was a gold star candidate as well. Mine was submitted and approved less than a day. ? my advice, stay on top of your team. Ask them when they’ll submit the paperwork. Then call cigna and ask if they’ve received it and if there’s a status they can give you. I think that’s what made my approval go so quick. Don’t worry hon, it should be fine for you too. oh, and I didn’t gain nor lose until I was stuck on a two week pre-op. Lol. Then I lost like five pounds. Cigna goes by your starting weight anyhow, so you should be in the clear. Another thing... take a deep breath! Now breathe.......?

Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis
I’m thankful for your surgeon too!!!! I was not given a set amount, but “just eat protein first”. I focused on that in the early days as I was getting acquainted with science and how our bodies work with all that extra protein (or doesn’t work). I have erased my mindset of labeling my foods by macro and micro nutrients. I don’t do protein, but beans, kale, etc. yum. Lol. Kale...my favorite! ??

Chewable Vitamins
Don't be surprised if your tastes changes and your stomach hates these things throughout your post months. I've gone through so many bariatric brands it's ridiculous; waste of money too. Currently, I'm doing the Flintstones (I'm also over 8 months post) and it seems to be fine to a degree. I was taking pills before but those made me sick (some bariatric brand). I hate bariatric vitamins, so I won't be using them anymore. I'm not worried about lack of vitamins either because I eat a variety of plant based foods, so my blood work is always good. Don't forget your sublingual B12 though. if you find yourself fatigued and dropping stuff...get a B complex as well. Hope you all find what works for you!!! I have a whole bottle of bariatric calcium tablets that I won't bother with...FREE to anyone in CC, TX area who wants them.

Starting process with Cigna
Oh yes, absolutely, because the 3 months of exercise/nutrition is pretty hard, IMO. Taking the first steps to change what got most everyone there is a mental challenge. I’m over 8months post and I still deal with head hunger, etc. BUT beating those challenges are still all worth it for our health.

Starting process with Cigna
You’re welcome hon. I had my psych evaluation early on too, I think within the first two weeks of my journey. There will be numerous appointments, but it’s all worth it IMO. Be blessed!

Proteinaholic by Dr Garth Davis
He has an easy app to journal those foods. I don’t care for journaling anything and tried it, but obviously I’m not wired to even do that easy app! Lol.

You had me at Budget Bytes!!! ?❤️?? thank you for sharing. I’m going to make this just as soon as I buy myself another crockpot! Or I guess I can do it over the stove. I’ve been buying sauce for some of the pasta dishes I’ve done and never once thought “why not make my own?” Way healthier and yes, less sweet!!!

MRM Veggie Elite Protein Powder (Vegan)
Absolutely. I’m just thankful that the early stages is just that, a stage and temporary. I’d rather eat my 4oz of kale than have a protein shake. ?

Starting process with Cigna
Sometimes it’s the only way for others, such as myself and I desired it. I met all the criteria for insurance and waiting a few months was nothing, it was very effortless and it was way cheaper than even going to Mexico to pay for it.

No caffeine? Ever?
I added caffeinated coffee back in about week 4 post op I believe. Been at it since, just be sure to drinks lots of water in the early stages and do drink the decaf very early in the beginning; it won’t be forever. Just a temporary set back. ?

It’s NOT a DIET!
I’m not sure if it’s along the same lines of where he’s at now, I’ll look in to it. I know he wrote some books previously that he had to backtrack and say he was wrong (obviously after the science proved he was).

Water weight “gain”?
My thoughts....too much water and maybe not enough food and if you’re gaining, it could be from the lack of calories. ??? But I don’t know any other info other than you drink a lot of water. Might be worth looking in to.

Starting process with Cigna
I have Cigna open access as well. It was pretty easy actually. The insurance will go by the first initial weight that the doctor reports. So even if you do gain (which I hope you don’t) you’ll still be able to get your surgery as long as the other prerequisites have been met. I started at 266 and by surgery I was 259, not much loss but it was okay. I lost those few pounds during my pre-op diet. My advise to you is to call cigna and stay on top of what needs to be done, etc. stay on top of your team and ask when they’ll be submitting paperwork, etc. in turn when they do, call cigna again and ask if they’ve received them, etc. I did all of that, my paperwork (after all was said and done) was submitted on a Thursday morning and I was approved the following morning. May not work for everyone but it sure does help to know what’s going on. Blessings to you on your journey hon!

It’s NOT a DIET!
Protein? What’s that??? Lol i don’t focus on any macro or micro nutrients, just good wholesome foods. I’ve also read the book by bariatric surgeon Dr Garth Davis, called Proteinaholic. He’s got loads of sources and science behind the western diet craze of protein, specifically animal proteins. It’s a great read if you’re interested.

Coffee after weight loss surgery?
Been very aware of it...I also like to drink lots of water, so no issues with having caffeine for me even at that early stage. But with that said, I agree with you for any others in their early stages, to get confirmation from their docs.

New long eyelashes
I wish mine did too...if my eyelashes were long and thick after WLS. I haven’t noticed any change with mine, but that’ll be a nice change to have. Enjoy yours!!

Coffee after weight loss surgery?
Mine too but I haven’t had any issues with it.

It’s NOT a DIET!
I do vegan/vegetarian, WFPB, lifestyle. Slowly changed before WLS and have kept at this. It’s nice, easy, healthy, no counting, no journaling, just eat healthy food when hungry. It’s the best lifestyle for me. No dieting about it.

Coffee after weight loss surgery?
I think I had coffee about 4 weeks out. No decaf. Every day since.

Pizza
Pizza...yum. I have one every now and then. It didn’t kill me nor did I let it make me feel guilty for eating it. Nor will I allow anyone else to tell me I’m “losing it” for having one. Enjoy a slice, or half, but that’s it.
