I started a pound less than where you are now and I'm down. To 380.
My surgery is next week.... if I can do it, then you definitely can too.

Large2Ncharge reacted to Malin in Surgery is Tuesday 12/27 and I am a bit of a wreck
You've got this The surgery is short (I'm speaking of the sleeve). There are complications with ANY surgery. Heck, you can have complications from a root canal, botox or taking Tylenol even. give yourself a chance,

Had my surgery on the 14th and trust me I have no hunger. Maybe head hunger but that's it. You'll be good if you even get in all your protein/fluids. First 5 days were the worst for me on the pre-op diet. When your family is having dinner, leave the room. It helps. Also sugar free popsicles when you are about to snap.
Hope this helps :-)

This is a *brilliant* idea! My surgery will be in 2017 -- PLEASE keep posting this calendar each month to facilitate surgery buddies for future months too? (And congrats to all the December folks!)

My surgery was scheduled for the 19th. I started my preop liquid diet the 9th. Yesterday the surgeon (yes the surgeon himself actually called me) and told me we have to reschedule for the 22nd. We live 3 hours away from the surgery center and already made reservations, took the pets to a boarding place, took vacations, rearranged everyone's Christmas plans. I know it is a small bump in this long process and it will happen but just disappointed. Add 20 below zero temps outside, vehicles won't start, frozen Water to the mix..thanks for letting me vent...

Wow. My experience was exactly like yours. I was so worried and scared of possible post surgery pain, but actually after surgery I simply woke up just a little bit sore, but with no real pain. I initially thought perhaps the surgery hadn't happened. Since being released from the hospital I've been taking it easy, but I feel great, and I've been out walking quite a bit with no problems, except working hard to get in all the required Protein, so I've got ZERO to complain about.
Also, so far I've lost 10 lbs in four days.
I'm not sure if my experience is typical, but if it is, we should let the rest of the world know that the VSG procedure isn't as scary as it is perceived to be.
For me, so far, it's a real blessing.
Good luck to everyone. We can all do this!
Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

I figured out a way to easily monitor my Protein intake without guessing if I am getting enough.
The cups shown above holds 2 oz of liquid so
I poured my Isopure of the day in each cup
A full bottle = 10 cups
So every hour or 30 min I drink a cup
I also am doing this with my Water.
I think this is an easy way for me to keep track so I thought I share.

PLEASE BELIEVE ME - I questioned that up until the time I was in the hospital, in my gown, and was given something to 'calm me down' before being wheeled to the OR.
I literally thought of leaving!
The rollercoaster of emotions was insane!
The liquid diet sucked because I was starving and watching everyone else around me able to eat. That messed with me a little.
I'm 4 days out and I could punch myself in the beak for thinking those things!!!
This is the BEST thing I've ever done and I'd absolutely recommend this surgery as well as do it ALL over again!!
Hang in there and baby step it!!!
Stay strong and get as much support and inspiration that you can!
You're going to be ok!!!!

The mental game is the biggest part of this journey. While I understand the feelings you are having, I would strongly recommend doing as much as you can to get your mind in the right place before you have the surgery. The surgery itself isn't going to get you where you want to be; it is the grit, perseverance, and mental toughness that will do that.
Good luck!

Large2Ncharge reacted to Janlou in calling all December 2016 sleevers!
Had my surgery on the 14th. 4 days post op and have lost 4#. Doesn't seem like much but at least it is going the right way. I have not had any problems getting in my fluids or protien at this point. Still having some pain in the incisions, but no nausea. However, I think I am having an allergic reaction to whatever they used to close my incisions! There is a red ring around each of them, and they itch like crazy! No swelling, tenderness or discharge so I don't think it is infection. Anyone else have issues with this!

I personally think that when you're in a position where you are doing better for yourself and becoming more successful (or are about to become more successful) at anything, people around you who know about it will try to bring you down, especially if they don't see success in their present or future.
People get jealous fairly easily because you're reminding them that they aren't successful. Basically, haters gonna hate. You do you so you can be happy, healthy, and successful!!
Good luck with everything!

Unfortunately, this is why I'm not telling many people what I'm doing. There are a select few who I know will support me I'll tell, and that is all. The others do not need to know. It is none of their business.
