  2. Hey Bec!!! No need to worry, having my band done was the best thing for me. I am so happy. In 8 days I have lost 11 pounds already and cannot wait to keep going!! This website is the best support I could ask for. Everyone on here is so nice!!! Good luck with your upcoming surgery and keep us posted on how you are doing!!!
  3. So my dietician called me today to check in and see how I was doing...I had surgery on the 14th so it's been 8 days. I told her that I had some apple sauce and ricotta cheese yesterday and she flipped!!! She told me to stick to my liquid list. What the hell. what is wrong with apple sauce?? Is she crazy or something?? So I now have to wait until next thursday when I see my doc about moving to mushies. She told me she wanted me to only eat things that will go down smoothly. But applesauce??? I don't get it...
  4. I have a question for you guys...why did you choose to go to Mexico for your surgeries?? Were there not any other areas you could go to for it?
  5. There is nothing to be worried about! You are going to do just fine. Life will be so much easier for you once you start to shed those pounds. I have been banded for a week now and I wouldn't go back for nothing!! For me, this is the best thing for me and my family. Just remember that everyone is different, and some people handle it different than others. Just be strong and focus on your health and you will do just fine!! Good luck!!
  6. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you hun!!
  7. I feel like I am the only one that doesn't feel hungry. Am I in denial or something? I drink ALOT of protein shakes and have my three meals a day. I have only been banded for one week, but I feel huge restriction.
  8. A pre-op diet?? My doctor didn't make me do that. So I ate everything I loved for the last time up to two days prior. As long as I did the bowel prep the day before surgery, I was okay. Don't worry about anything, this was the best thing I ever did for myself and the pain really isn't bad! I enjoy making funky soups and experimenting with different protein shakes. You will love your band!! I am only 1 week out and I would never go back to the way I was. I have lost 11 pounds in 1 week!!! YEAHHHH!! I know it sounds crazy but it's true! Just losing my first 5 pounds has made me so confidant that I can do anything. I have a huge goal but I know that with my band, I will do just fine. Losing a pound here and a pound there is very good for your ego! Good luck with your upcoming surgery and just remember that your family here at LBT is always here for you!!!
  9. Don't fret hun. I own a digital scale as well, and unless I put it in the exact same spot everytime, it is not correct!I HATE IT TO!!! But you are gonna make it~~you have a whole two days to do it!! Good luck!!
  10. Merry Christmas to everyone one in sunny Arizona!!! Happy holidays!!!
  11. Hey there newbie!! I too was banded on December 14th. I only have to wait until the 29th for my doctor's approval to move on to mushies. But I have tried a few things that aren't liquid. Like apple sauce and ricotta cheese. I haven't really had a problem feeling hungry. I really enjoy the protein shakes from Costco, they are the best! Just add a little peanut butter and ice and blend it, it comes out tasting like a reeces peanut butter cup!!! Good luck in your new life!! Just be careful about the cheating thing, my doctor told me that if I eat the wrong foods too fast, my band will slip. He also told me that my stomache will be swolen for atleast two weeks after surgery and that if I eat foods that are hard to digest, my stomach with work too hard and then I will have some serious problems. I have found that the protein shakes and some soups are very filling and I haven't had any urges to cheat.(but I am sure I will...LOL) Good luck hun!! And just remember that everyone on this site knows what youa are going through, so feel free to ask anything, anytime!!
  12. Welcome Peggy!!! Let me just tell you that Dr. Daniel Fang from St. Lukes hospital is the best surgeon in the world!!! My experience has been great!! And they got me approved and scheduled in 1 month!! Crazy I know, but true. They also have the best post-op training classes on eating, excersizing, and even a cooking class! It was great. I would reccomend that hospital and that surgeon. Good luck on your approval and just remember that this site is one big LAP band family!!! ~Teresa :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny
  13. Hello everyone!!!! I just wanted to share my awesome recipe for a protein shake. It is best used for the liquid stage or pureed stage!! 1 cup 1% milk 1 scoop chocolate protein powder 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 1/2 tablespoons peanut butter 6 ice cubes Blend and drink with a straw!!! It tastes just like a reeces peanut butter cup!!!! Enjoy everyone!!!
  14. My new Years resolution is to get down to my wedding dress size so that my fiance and I can finally set a date!!!

You go girl!!! Screw all those "fat" men that don't like "fat" chick's too! Who in the hell do they think they are anyways??? LOL
  17. It is really nice to know that I have a place I can go to and tell everyone how I am feeling, and they will truly all understand what I am going through. Thank you all for your kind words, they have made me feel alot better today! I guess I was in denial about my emotional attachment to food. I never thought it would hit me like this. But I know I will be okay. The cool thing about Christmas dinner is that my family is going to eat before I get there so that I do not feel uncomfortable. And my mom is making me a special yogurt drink. I am just looking forward to the presents!!!
  18. Hello everybody. Well I had my very first emotional breakdown today. I thought I was doing just fine, then all of a sudden I started crying really bad and trying to explain to my fiance what was going on in my head. Of course he doesn't understand because he has always been very thin. I was just banded last wednesday but it all started when I realized I couldn't just have him pick up dinner on his way home as we always did. I am so used to just eating whatever I want and not caring about it. And now I am having to choose liquids and other things that are just not appealing to me. Don't get me wrong, I do not regret having this done! I guess I am just getting used to the whole idea of not really having any control over what I eat for right now. Mentally, I want to go to Chili's and have my favorite sandwich in the world! But physically I am not hungry, and don't care what I eat. This really is alot harder than I though it would be. I know that in time it will get easier, but on a day like today when I was at home all alone, everything just started getting to me. I am very happy and excited about making a change and loosing weight, I just never thought I would have such an emotional attachment to food. It's more of a memory thing for me. Alot of good memories I have all include some kind of yummy lunch or dinner. Oh well, I'm sure tomorrow will be a better day! Thankyou all for letting me vent!! Happy holidays to everyone!! (oh and I hate TV commercials!!!!!)
  19. Very awesome!! Thanks for finding that survey!! I can sure use the cash right now!!:banana :banana :banana :banana
  20. How could you guys tell you have a leak?
  21. Thanks Sun. I am really just tired of cream of wheat and creamed soups!!!
  22. Thanks Jac!! I guess I am just afraid to try new things. I may be following the liquid diet too strictly. I am not hungry in any way, just want some new tastes in my mouth.
  23. Does anyone know if you can eat cranberry sauce while your in the liquid stage?? I would think you could because it's just like jello. I guess I am getting pretty bored about now and I am looking for some new things to taste. I am not neccesarily hungry, just needing some new tastes. Anyone got any ideas for me??
