Jdserra got a reaction from SweetyShetty1988 in Kaiser California covers weight loss surgery?
Yes Kaiser covers it ...you just pay your hospital stay deductible . You will need to go through a 12-week options program. meets once a week for about a little less than 2 hours. You learn a lot at these classes so don't think of it as a bothersome. I did my classes through the Fontana location and had my surgery in Redlands. Good luck to you!

I wasn't restricted on caffeine (within reason). Starbucks w/nonfat milk and sugar free vanilla Syrup = Life. Also cold brew w/nonfat milk and sweet n low. .....now if there was only a diet equivalent of Cabernet Sauvignon!

A better way to say it is. I 3 weeks post op its probably not a good idea for lots of reasons such as empty calories etc. But, further in the future try a few and if u can handle it treat yourself sometimes with a few chips but be careful bc there is not a lot of nutritional value n chips…. Try other alternatives also… but not to be rude spoke for itself

Jdserra reacted to Autumn Fury in What did you wish you knew pre-surgery/sleeve life?
The things I wish I knew before surgery are:
    1. Get the Vitamin Patches.
    2. Avoid the Protein shakes as much as possible - try to get as much Protein from real food as you can.Your taste buds will change.
    3. Fluids are a constant struggle, have a variety of options available.
    4. An ice pack was my best friend while recovering.
    5. You will have several incisions and they do take time to heal.
    6. It's difficult to lay on your right side. (I'm 6 weeks out & still can't lay on my right side).
    7. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder taste great in chicken Soup.
    8. GENEPRO is a good Protein Powder but be careful what you mix it with.
    9. Any local support groups you can attend are very beneficial.
    10. Every day it will get a little bit better.

I'm down 21 pounds. I stalled for a week so I put the scale away. I'm just going to weigh in once a week. It's ok tho. I'm not discouraged. I was 235 day of surgery. On 214 now. What about you?

I had sleeve done August 30 th. Also a big sweet tooth. I will tell you my need for sweets has diminished substantially and I can't handle too sweet. As for amount of food... you r brain may want more but your stomach won't let you eat it. I too was debating between sleeve and bypass went with sleeve and happy about my decision

I highly suggest this enchilada soup! Just be sure you strain it. Again this is when you're on your full liquids. It was a lifesaver for me. I'm clear tomorrow to go on to the soft stage.

Como on we are food addicts, who are you kidding? I heard you and I appreciate the advice what I don't appreciate is how condescending your being.
Suzzzzzz I appreciate the advice I did buy some and they are god send and the sugar free ones aren't that bad
Someone told me gum would help too, I bought some sugar free trident and that has helped me with my chewing urge it's getting easier.
I still look forward to being able to chew real food it's hard bc it's so drastically different from a life style of years and having it change in a matter of day.
Thanks everyone for the positive advise.

Didn't think it was that serious. It's not like I have been doing it consistently, I had my vsg in Mexico and my coordinator who also has done it did tell me that if I saw something and felt the extreme need to eat it that I should just chew it and spit it out an not to swallo. I have slot of anxiety so sometime I just feel the need to chew. I'm 12 days post of and I feel great I've recently started chewing gum. Not a gum person but it definitely has helped.

I tried ice cream about a week and a half out, just a spoonful (I'm of the belief that I still need to live my life- but as a skinny eater and skinny people have a spoonful of ice cream every once in a while )
After the spoonful I felt a little bubbly in my belly and then I got super tired I'm not sure if it was my stomach or lack of gallbladder that didn't like it so much. I say give it a try but don't spend tons of money on a big carton lol most of the things I'm gung ho for end up getting tossed. I did enjoy Italian ices when I was just home from the hospital gave me the feel of eating ice cream but was more like a Popsicle in the liquid department.
Also, my post op diet plan was more lenient I was on full liquids 2nd day post op and pureed a week out almost a month post op now and on the healthy diet for life plan. Everyone is different but my surgeon wasn't too hard on me.

Thank you!! This is something I plan on trying tonight. It must be full liquids because my surgeon said I can have yogurt and sugar free things if I like. I will try that.
