I'm very nervous about my body. Had a brief relationship last year and the guy found my skin a major turn off. Pretty soon it was his reason for suddenly ghosting on me... Or at least part.
Just tentatively beginning something new now... We'll see!

I track my food and exercise as well which is why I know I'm eating within the guidelines of my plan. This is what i typically eat:
Typical day (and I eat a lot of the same things day after day)
    Breakfast
    Premier Protein shake
2 Egg whites w 1 Laughing cow cheese
    Lunch:
1/2 Grilled chicken breast with salad (no dressing or croutons, just greens and veggies)
    Snack:
8-10 almonds, or 2 slices of Low cal deli turkey with 1 wedge of laughing cow
    dinner
1/2 grilled or baked chicken breast with 1 veggie..usually 1/4 grilled zucchini
    Snack:
String cheese, almonds or another Protein Shake
Daily: Water intake is over 64 oz per day. I only drink Water, green tea (no calorie sweetener) or zero calorie drinks but water is my go-to

One of my colleagues had to tie my shoes after we went through security at the Norfolk, VA airport. Since I have Pre-Check, I never had to take off my shoes, but their metal detector was extra sensitive (and I had never flown through that airport), so I had to take them off. And with the winter clothes on, I could reach the laces. Even though Jenn was so kind and sensitive, I was mortified. I got the ball rolling soon after.
And seeing 397 on the scale at the doctor's office was also telling...

My surgeon stressed this at my consult but he told me I could see my GP or him and that seeing both would just be a waste of money. That's shitty of your surgeon's office to drop the ball or not emphasize that you need to see someone every single month.

Actually, (vodka brain talking, sorry) did you complete all of your required months then not see anyone after? Or was it 2 months during the 6 months or whatever your requirement is?

Everyone's poop stinks regardless of whether they've had WLS. Name one individual, bariatric surgery patient or otherwise, who defecates crap that smells like roses and honey.
Obesity has a far worse impact on our lives than strong-smelling fecal matter.

I'm glad you posted this. I think people post good results more because they're feeling good and wanting to share, but I think it's really brave of you to post how you're feeling. I'll say the same thing to you that someone on here said to me. Take pictures. It shows in a side by side comparison. I've only lost 18 pounds in 6 weeks. I thought the weight would come off so much faster in the beginning but since I don't have as much to lose, it comes off slower. I know how you feel. I think you have to think about the fact that you have averaged around -10 per month! That's awesome!

Pretty sure you can't permanently change your food issues in 6 months, and it doesn't have any metabolic affects either. My guess is this would end up being close to 100% regain after a couple years. Terrible idea. Not directing this at the OP, but at the company pushing it.

Since you are at the beginning of this process, I would recommend three things.

    1. Take a good before photograph of yourself, so that you have something to compare to after surgery. Many times we are blind to our obesity. We do not see ourselves. Therefore when the weight begins to drop off rather dramatically, we question if this is really happening. Photographs are a good visualization of our success. Many people carry a before and after photo with them, just to remind themselves of their success.
    2. Walk 30 minutes each day, every day until surgery (or equivalent exercise). Walking helps the recovery process go smoothly and minimized the pain levels from surgery.
    3. Wean yourself from caffeine and carbonated beverages now. After I gave up my 6 diet coke a day habit, I suffered from a week of severe withdrawal syndrome consisting of severe headaches and body aches. I was miserable. You don't want to combine the effects of caffeine withdrawal with the effects of surgery.

Hi guys so I have been doing tier 3 and my six months is coming up, so I have my last appointment before tier 4, my last appointment I was told I would be put through for surgery . I can completed the milk diet and so far have lost three stone but since ending that and moving into the refeed diet I put two pound on , on my last appointment and I still haven't lost anything so far yet I am following my low carb high Protein diet my specialist put me on so I'm terrified I will be refused the go ahead, has anyone else struggled to loose weight not being on the milk diet? I don't want to mess this up but I do not know what I'm doing wrong? I've done a food diary and my calories are no more than 1,400 at the most a day 🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I've been doing Keto for 2 months. I have dropped 25 lbs so far and I feel great. I definitely plan to keep doing it after vsg. Check out the Fitmissbliss blog, she's a VSGer who does keto now too.

I have been in Ketosis for several weeks by keeping my net carbs under 30 grams a day. Seems to work well by eliminating hunger from my day to day life.
Just curious how many others are doing Keto as well?

Doesn't gastric sleeve use staples? The Gastric Plication turns the stomach into itself. It's different than the endoscopic sleeve which sutures the stomach to the shape, similar to the Gastric Sleeve, just without cutting the stomach off.

I have had several stalls and every time I get so frustrated!!! I am in one right now!!! I went back to Protein shake, 20 oz Water, a Protein for lunch(2-3oz), 20 oz Water, Protein Shake, a protein for dinner(2-3oz) and I have been kicking my butt at the gym. Last night 1.75 miles on treadmill and 7.75 on stationary bike. Today I woke up and weighed, finally got past the 191.6-190 mark by hitting 189.8!!! I was so excited!!! I normally do weights every other day, I think I am just going to hold off on weight training for a few days and just burn as many calories as I can for the next few days then add weight back in.
Hope you all found a way to be positive and keep journeying along.

rosy066 reacted to jmar23 in I've heard of the 3 week stall but 3rd month?
So I was sleeved on February 20th an all has been well. I did have a small stall (4-5 days long) around the 2-3 week mark. Now I am almost 2 and a half months out an my weight loss has slowed a lot with two decent week long stalls in the past 3 weeks. I lost 2 lbs between them but it is back now. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? I follow my diet to the T. I do struggle some days to get my Protein in just because I can't eat that much. When I do manage to hit my target I seem to just end up gaining an losing the same pound. Just wondering if this is normal? I did start back to shakes today to try and break the stall since some have reported that helped. Not the full liquid diet but mostly . Anything else I can do to get past this?

Agree. You do have a choice with Kaiser. I too am a Kaiser patient.
I did go in wanting the RouNY. But my surgeon thought the sleeve would be best for me because I am considered high risk. I agreed with him and now I will be sleeved on Oct 25th!!
    Good luck to you!

I had my surgery at Kaiser Richmond and YOU CAN pick your surgery. They will suggest to you what surgery they think is best (for me it was VSG), but it is your option.
If you chose something that was not right for you or would kill you, obviously they wouldn't do it, but VSG is pretty safe for all!
    Good luck to you !!

Currently in the pre op testing phase. I expect I will get my surgery date soon for late June-early July. I still struggle with staying on track and counting calories. I'm assuming we all have had this issue if we are here so
What Changes after the surgery? I assume it's still going to be hard afterwards, but how mentally do you go from struggling to stay on track to having kind of no choice but to stay on track?
Because I have failed so many times losing weight and yo yo dieting in my head I feel like I will get this and not lose a pound. Which I'm pretty sure is impossible. Any insight into this from post sleeved peeps would be great! Thanks.

Just read forums, you will get a better idea.
The people that are going to answer are either going to be people that never got to goal and are complaining or you are going to get the people that are super responders to surgery and got to goal super fast.
You won't get a realistic idea.
If you need to lost 110 pounds and you lose normally, it is going to take you are year. If you are super responder to surgery, it might take you 6 months.
You have zero information posted about yourself so it is impossible to guess.
