-Not having to side tie my gym shoes
    - being able to sneak past a person without butt bumping them
-not thinking everyone is staring at me when I eat
    - not tugging at my shirt to make sure my belly is covered
-clothes that don't have embroidery and butterflies
-my kids being able to wrap a hug around me
    Just to name a few...

GAS SUCKS - I was ready for heroin to stop the pain. Walking and moving made it better.... No joke walking is huge and really helps. Fluids drink slow and don't gulp...... Not to cold or sweet ----- it gets better I slept on my side last night with a pillow splint and slept like a baby

Hi guys!! So I got sleeved at about 8 am. I've been sleeping off and on most of the day - this is my first time looking at my phone. Not being hungry is the strangest feeling! The gas pain is tolerable - hasn't headed to my shoulder yet so it's all in my abdomen. For any ladies that have had babies - to me this feels like mild contractions that are just always there...ooh! Or bad period cramps. Thank you all for being my support I hope everyone else done today is feeling good and everyone yesterday. Everyone else: you guys got this! Our futures are limitless. Love to you all.

Congrats! Those first months are wonderfully magical. You will have many more celebration days coming your way. WLS is for me, the closest thing out there to the fountain of youth. You expect to feel better, but you're completely overwhelmed by how it will positivity affect so many other aspects of your life: your mobility, stamina, confidence, belief in yourself and so many others.
WLS isn't just a cold sterile procedure. It's your life 2.0 reboot and a second chance to get it right this time around.
It's just going to get better and better!

Today is exactly one month since I had WLS. I don't normally weigh in mid week (I weigh in and do my measurements on Monday mornings) but since it has been a month since my surgery I weighed myself.
I started my journey at my all time heaviest 280lbs. During the preop diet I lost 13lbs so on the morning of my surgery I was 267lbs.
Today I weighed in at 240.2lbs.
    I am down 40lbs!!!!!!
I'm finding my way through the new diet and feeling more confident by the day!

I'm 6 weeks post op and feeling terrific. Relax and be good to yourself.....remember everyone's journey is different.......follow your surgeons recommendations and don't be confused by what the rest of us say - we're on our own journey and, hopefully following our surgeons recommendations. Don't compare your weight loss with others.....we all lose at the perfect rate for our individual bodies. Resist the temptation to weigh every day. Our weight fluctuates and it can be disheartening.
Be proud of your choice to be in control of your own body and, most importantly, love yourself

Hey @HRHMB - It's great you have a consult with a surgeon coming up to explore options. It's a big decision and there's a lot involved so don't be afraid to ask questions! It's important to feel comfortable with the procedure, what to expect, and the surgeon themselves.
Here's some ideas for questions to ask at the consult. Maybe this will help!
How many years have you been a bariatric surgeon? What training have you had in bariatric surgery? Are you a board-certified surgeon? Are you a member of ASBS (American Society of Bariatric Surgery)? How many and what type of weight loss surgeries do you perform each year? Based on my personal health and weight, what surgery do you recommend for me? What are the advantages of this procedure? Disadvantages of this procedure? Risks? Do you perform the surgery laparoscopically or open? (If possible, laparoscopic surgery has a quicker recovery) Will you perform the procedure, or an assistant? Will you be in the operation room during the entire procedure? Where will the surgery be performed? Is the hospital or clinic a Center of Excellence? How many people on the entire medical team? Is everyone of the medical team licensed? What pre-op testing will be done? What post-op testing will be done? Why don't you recommend the other procedures for me? What changes will I be expected to make with regards to diet and exercise? Do you have someone I can call if I have a question during non-office hours? What is expected weight loss? -Melody

I have 3 friends who had the sleeve and I too was one of the jealous friends. I didn't try to talk them out of it....I did say that I was going to do the same without surgery. It didn't happen and after about 3 months research decided to do it too! Sometimes lack of knowledge is part of the problem.

Same. My sister was super awesome about me having it done. She actually said I inspired her to do something about her weight (and I'm sure not wanting to be the fattest sister, lol) And oh boy did she, lol. She went to Weight Watchers and became a total fitness fanatic and now weighs less than I do, lol. But oh well. I'm glad I inspired her to be the healthiest she's ever been in her life, because I am, too!
