I think the better you are at sticking the plan, and making it a long term lifestyle change, the more weight you will lose.

The first year after surgery is important. Those who don’t reach goal might be because they start eating all kinds of things. my surgeon told me I’d reach goal in far less than a year and without issue. Especially since I’ve been that small before. I’m even on the “ smaller” side for a bariatric patient. He said due to all my health problems , my fat is hormonal , so once I’m balanced, I’ll easily lose the weight. Time will tell! I’m not one to really worry ahead nor believe one size fits all. But I can’t speak for people who are over 300lbs .. I’m sure I’ll have to work hard once I reach 150-160... I know the drill.

It's good you had this discussion with your doc. Lots of people don't, and then are super surprised and upset when the scale stops moving when they are 40lbs above a normal BMI.
Here's an article that talks about it:

    Hello All,
Its been a while since I posted because I have been recovering from my RNY on 9/11. I am still having a lot of pain three weeks out. I read that some people don't get pain at all. Anybody still have pain and if so how are you handling it?
    Thanks,

    Good Afternoon All,
I've been having trouble not regressing to eat bad things since the Sonoma Wildfires started. I can't eat a lot at a time but I can snack. I'm trying to stay strong but when I get stressed its very hard to do. These fires are scary. We are still in our house but I worry about evacuating myself, my husband and our 3 cats a lot. It makes me want to eat. Any suggestions on willpower?

    focused on what? the fires?
i don’t see why wildfires being nearby would affect what you eat.

Lot of people stress eat. I would consider a nearby fire stress inducing.

Hi there! My surgery went great! I’m down 26lbs my third week post op. I still do feel sick at times and am learning how to eat and drink slowly. I can’t keep too much down though. My NSV would be ; no more back pain, and I can’t leave out that my feet don’t hurt anymore! I had the worst throbbing foot pain in both my feet and now I can walk and run errands without being miserable.
Congrats on your toe nail victory. I hadn’t tried! I just leaned over and saw that Wow I can! However it does hurt my tummy to do much since my incisions are still healing.

First priority is your safety, and health. You have my prayers, all of you in the path of this destruction my heart goes out to you.
I have had a house fire, not a forest fire where I lost all, but the stress still takes a huge toll on your mental and physical health. If you are told to evacuate, please just go and be safe.
If you have time right now, prepare to leave. Take inventory with photos, put documents in a container in your vehicles now, get extra canned food and Water in your vehicle, pet supplies, make a list of where you can evacuate to and call for availibilty - all this prep will put your mind more at ease.
You will be in my prayers.

Where are you located? I live in Bennett Valley near the golf course and have been evacuated since Wednesday.

Im thinking you’ve already had surgery- this is a very stressful time, so scary but we all have to be strong and part of that is self care! Don’t eat and if you snack can you make them healthy Snacks? (Ya what’s the point of a healthy snack! )

My surgery was scheduled for the 17th but it’s been canceled....Stay safe ️

I plan to just keep my food journal. Will plan to take a monthly photos, and every 6 months or so will have my measurements redone. I will be using microsoft Word because I can add photos and format it any way I want.

I wanted to do the same. But I’m far too lazy. I’ll just snap photos of myself with each large milestone or something. I’m down 20lbs in less than 2 wks post op, but at 230 it doesn’t show enough to take the photo. Just my face looks super small.

I am open for chatting too, had my surgery on 9/14/17. So I am on the mushy stage, still having some pain from my hernia repair and feeling low. I can really use some perspective and would just love to make a few new friends

OutsideMatch.....What do you mean Halo Top Ice Cream ( a proper portion not a pint). Don't you know...a pint is a proper portion? J/K.
I love that ice cream. I haven't had any since before pre-op, but I will definitely indulge in it at some point in the future. As far as sweets go, I'm with you monalyssa33....I loved fruity candy. Any flavor of Skittles and Mike and Ikes used to be my favorites. I won't eat them now though, because they are straight sugar. At least there is Protein in Halo Top.
My wife's birthday was last weekend. I had a bite (just one) of double chocolate cake, and didn't really like it. It was too sweet, and the chocolate actually had a fake chocolate taste even though the frosting was made from real whipped milk chocolate. I guess my sense of taste has changed. That is a good thing though, because I didn't even want another bite of it.
Blizair09, that is a good idea. I have had cottage cheese with peaches, but never with preserves. I have some Smuckers sugar free strawberry preserves in the fridge. I think that I am going to have that for snack (or a meal) tonight to try it out.
