One thing I love about FB’s on this day feature is seeing all the selfies I used to take lol. This picture really got me though. It was a picture of my niece and I taken one year ago. I see someone who although she is smiling, she is dead on the inside. Longing to break free from the chains of obesity. January 7th of this year I started my new sleeved life. It has not been easy, but I do not regret my decision not one bit. Exercise has become something that I enjoy to do, I never thought I would say that! I am able to be the active mom that my son deserves to have. I no longer get tired and out of breath playing with him. I had got to the point where I hid from my friends because I was ashamed of myself. Not anymore. I am able to walk with my head held high and am proud of the progress I have made so far. I included a full body shot as well the beach picture was taken July 2015. I really needed to see these pictures side by side, the last few months things have slowed down tremendously. It’s not because I haven’t been putting the work in, I am just trying to be patient as I can be. I know I will get to where I want to be.
The only thing I miss about the old me from last year is my longer hair!

I had band to bypass on Oct 3. I stayed the normal 2 nights in hospital. Recovery went very well. I have lost 23 lbs and I'm doing great. I never had GERD before surgery. Had some bad heartburn in hospital. I take my PPI as directed (once a day) no issues.

I know it's been so long since I was on here. I had my RNY on Nov 2, 2015. It was a long time between my removal and my Gastric Bypass surgery.
I'm coming up on my year anniversary and I wouldn't change a thing. My weight loss has been substantial. My highest recorded weight was 342. I am now down to 152. I feel amazing. I haven't had any complications.
I'm using an app on my phone and I need to update my profile. I look so much different now.

As the PP said, don't worry. You haven't ruined anything and you obviously learned a lesson. Also, as PP said, post-op is so much easier!! Just do your best! You go this!

Belleville, nice!! Yes, it is for the better. Surgery and recovery will go so much smoother by following the diet.
I feel great! Everyday since surgery gets noticeably better. I will let you know, the first 36-48 hours were hard, but the staff and nurses I had were amazing. Take your pain meds BEFORE you need them. When I wasn't sure if I was in pain or nauseous, I just asked for both! Walk as much as you can. You'll do great! I can tell by how well you're doing now :-)

Hi!I'm doing to assume you are in Ontario if you're having to do Optifast. I'm in Peterborough and had my surgery oct 3. I had 3 weeks of optifast and alao had to prepare dinner for my hubby and 2 year old. It sucked. The whole time. Being at work was better then at home. It took me a long time to figure out the spacing to help curb the cheating at dinner. I would have my 'dinner' shake at 3pm so I wasn't so hungry preparing dinner and then have my 'snack' shake after everyone was done or just as they were finishing dinner. Honestly I still have almost a whole case left, that's how much I sucked at it. I do wished I could have done better. Telling myself it is a prescription and the goal is to reduce my liver helped. Just do your best. They never even asked me how the diet went when I went in for surgery. Just saying. Good luck. Oh and as for now, so much easier. I can cook and I don't even care if I eat anything. Just not hungry.

I make crackers using almond flour. Very low carb and gluten free. You Mix 1 cup flour with 1 egg white. Till all moist. Roll out very thin on parchment paper, using a pizza cutter, cut out sized crackers. Sprinkle with whatever salt or seasoning you like. I like chili powder, garlic powder or salt, and seasoned salt the best.

I found it really took a week to figure out how to space out the shakes that was going to work for me. My pre-op is 4 shakes a day and basically nothing else. I go to bed early! Keep busy and just do my best. It's really hard, but only temporary. You can do it!

Hi ShrinkingMeme! Wow your story sounds very similar. I got my band aug 2011. Did very well for the first year. The company I went through, private pay, went bankrupt. Was still doing well the next year. Went from 282 to 210. Meet my husband and put on a couple pounds, lol! Then a year later we we married and then pregnant right away! While pregnant I started to get very bad issues with food being stuck. Just dealt with it for 18 months eating ice cream and whatever I could get done. Back up to 290, my highest weight! Sept last year I had enough and talked to family doctor. He referred me to Ontario bariatric network to have reversion to bypass covered by OHIP. They were able to unfill my band, which can I never had done...no where to go. So finally able to eat again! My surgery is Oct 4 and totally nervous they will only take the band out and then I'll have to wait for bypass.
