Thank you so much. It helps to know that others understand.
I am so sorry that you were fired, and hope you found an even better position.
Perhaps I should wait and weigh myself at my doctor's appointments only. That may be my answer.
I do want this so much, and am trying so hard.
    Thank you again! 😀

I am a vet, and I thought the response was a bit negative sounding. I'm sure Super Dave meant well but, in this case, I found it a little much. Some of us respond to tough love (which isn't always effective with strangers) and some of us need more stroking and encouragement (that's me).

As for me, my pre-op diet was the hardest thing I've had to deal with so far, so. For me the first day was the worst. I adjusted a bit, but it wasn't easy. It didn't help things that I got fired from my job midway through this!

I did lose 20 pounds so that helped to encourage me, but I didn't weigh myself outside of a doctor's appointment a week in. If I had been flat I think that would have made me crazy. So I understand and emphasize.

Don't worry so much about the weight loss. The diet is to reduce the size and fat deposits around your liver. The liver covers the stomach and the doctor's have to pull it back to operate. As long as the liver is losing weight, it's not so important you are. That will happen AFTER! (YAY!)

A very harsh response to someone asking for help, care and compassion is far more helpful. The forum is to encourage and support - not to show off!
Keep going Elise, all of a sudden you will start to see results, you have plenty of time still, one day at a time. It's worth it in the end (I hope). I'm 4 weeks post and currently on a platuea and getting frustrated, but I know it will come right in the end.

I joined this forum for encouragement, not to be told off by someone who ASSUMES I'm not all in, and assumes they know me.
We are each different with different makeups and age. I am much older than you, and you have no clue what it's like to be my age.
When I say that I haven't lost weight in two weeks and that I am discouraged, it's because this is extremely unusual for me.
I wouldn't have made my original post if I didn't feel like something was off.
Here's the deal. Respect your elders, and stop assuming.

I have no advice on anything but the "no butt issue".LOL I saw that and as my daughter always says SQUATS!! If you want to have a nice rear end, you have to work the muscles of the rear end. Squats and lunges.

I always advise people to go as low as you possibly can (while still being in a healthy range) to give yourself some wiggle room for some "bounce" weight most WLS patients experience a few years out. I bounced up 10, then stabilized. I'm glad I was low enough weight wise to where it didn't bother me much.

I love leftovers... sadly I have a teenage boy in my house. I haven't seen a leftover since he turned 13.

You know what, I was huge on eating leftovers in the past. If I go out to eat, obviously, I'll always bring something back home and will eat the rest for another meal/meals. I think my issue here is, I made pork and since the surgery, pork isn't really something I care for. Sadly, beef and pork don't interest me anymore.

I have to admit, if I had boundless energy, time, and budget, I would make new food for every meal, every day. LOL. But snap! That's not my reality. I'm getting to the point of being very tricky. For instance, I will make "bases" (i.e. ground beef/turkey/chicken/or pork with onion and garlic, s/p; grilled chicken "planks" or strips or cubes, grilled sirloin strips, grilled pork chops, etc) and will make or buy "base sauces." Then I package and freeze them so we can weigh out 3 or 6 ounces (for me or Mr. Fluffy) and combine them with different sauces (i.e. LC/LF Alfredo, marinara, "cream" gravy, pot pie gravy, enchilada sauce, red chili, green chili) that are also frozen in small containers. It's like having garanimals for your food and for me anyway, it doesn't feel as much like having leftovers as other meals. That way, I literally cook only 1 or 2 times per week (other than throwin a salad or veg together).
It kinda takes the pain out of leftovers and makes them Lucky Leftovers instead!

    Happy Thursday, everyone

I was just chatting w/ a coworker about cooking and you know what, I'm bored of it.

Do some of you feel the same?

The other night, I bought some chops and veggies, I ate half a chop w/ two spoonful of veggies and I was done. I planned to take the rest to work as several days worth of leftovers, but I'm just not interested. As usual, they will just sit there until it's time to be thrown away. I simply, have no interest in leftovers. The intent is there, but the want dies after the first serving for dinner.

I have always skewed my food so that I had more in the evenings. I do this by not eating until about 10am and putting a little extra time between my meals in the early afternoon. I have always wanted to eat more in the evenings, so this trick has served me well during my post-op journey.

Youll be fine, I had some regrets the first few days, but it passes. Look at your ultimate goal/goals. Youll eat everything you ate before, just much less of it like a normal human being. Look at my picture, does it look like I regret it?

Today is the day after my one month surgi-versary.

    I am down 45 lbs.
Still haven't dropped shirt sizes. Pants sizes have dropped. I'm in this weird phase where my shirts are bog on me, I'm swimming in them, but if I go down one sixe from 3xl to 2xl , they don't quite fit yet.

    Poop.

It gets better, but slowly. I am at week 10 and I still have struggles, but they are less and less. In the meantime, as the payoff for my struggles, I have lost 78 pounds. I can stand up without exhaustion and walk every day on my treadmill and people don't look at me like I'm an alien anymore. So it's worth it.

Those people who say this is the "easy way out", just don't know. Keep on keeping on!

You're doing great! There's something called the "third week stall" that almost all of us go through- please don't let it get you down. Weight loss is not linear and this is the first of many stalls you will likely encounter.

Also, try not to compare yourself to others- everyone loses at their own pace, men lose faster than women, very obese people lose faster than lightweights, etc.

As someone else on here likes to continually point out- when is the last time you lost 23 pounds in a month? Never?

    Congratulations on your success.

I find it odd that a doctor would set a specific weight goal. Everyone loses at their own pace. Don't let this discourage you.

Sizes: (pre surgery) = size 2x and 20W pants GOOD-BYE LANE BRYANT!
(currently) = s/m and 6 pants HELLO EVERY STORE IN THE MALL!!!
I FINALLY BROKE 100 although the weight is slow.slow.slowly coming off now. I'm okay with that (most days)... I still choose Protein 1st, limit carbs, and weight train a few times a week. I don't log individual nutrients but stay mindful of popular concerns (protein, carbs, Water, fat, activity, etc).
My body doesn't seem to tolerate some things as easily as it did before - I no longer eat Pasta of any kind, have difficulty eating rice and bread is severely limited. I don't miss any of it except the sushi rolls... which I still have, just only a bite or two rather than a roll or two !!! LOL Pre-surgery I would indulge in ice cream every.single.day. I have absolutely no desire for ice cream or brownies anymore. I use vanilla Premier Protein instead of Creamer in my morning coffee...
The 2nd best decision I made was to hire a personal trainer. Besides building muscle, it's rebuilding my confidence. It's helped in becoming more social and it's holding me accountable - it's an investment I'm thankful I can make and one that addresses many areas within - physical and mental. I feel so much better in my clothes, too!
It's very encouraging to see the progress of others. I've picked up a lot of tips from these forums and find many things about them to be useful. I do however, try not to get caught up in comparing myself and my journey to everyone else. It took a good long while for that to sink in my head - not everyone moves along at the same pace. In the beginning it was sometimes discouraging for me (I'm a wee bit competitive). Hind sight, I'm where I need to be and am moving along just fine.
