jaimelu reacted to avatarkorraa in Over a month stall - need advice
    Hey everyone,
I'm at the 6 month post-op mark and I'm going through the longest stall I've experienced in my journey thus far! I'm not new to stalls, as my body will usually stall for 2 weeks at a time then all of a sudden I'll lose 5 pounds over the course of 2 days, but my weight hasn't changed in over a moth now and I'm feeling incredibly discouraged. My starting weight was 285 before my 3 week liquid only pre-op diet, and I was 265 on the day of surgery. I've been sitting at 205 for the past few weeks, so I've only lost about 60 pounds since my actual surgery date My goal weight is 150 which seems like a mile away right now! I've been logging everything I eat on my fitnesspal and I eat around 800 - 900 cals a day, with a goal of no more than 25g of net carbs (I do go over sometimes though, but I don't usually surpass 35g of net carbs). I've been getting all my Protein and Vitamins in most days and I drink about 1.5 - 2L of Water a day. I eat 3 meals and 1-2 Snacks a day. I can definitely eat much more than I could a few weeks ago, and I eat 5-6oz per meal in one sitting (Which feels like a lot to me...I thought I would only be eating 4oz per meal until at least a year post op, but 4oz doesn't fill me up like it used to. Maybe my stomach just healed really fast? Or I have a larger sleeve?). I haven't started exercising yet although I really do want to! I'm just starting to get my strength back since I was prone to some fainting spells and had some really bad weakness/fatigue compounded with anemia and low blood sugar for a while post-op, but it’s slowly getting better. Hoping to start slow doing exercise with some daily walking and running at least once exams are over (I’m a university student) and when the weather gets a little better.
In the meantime though, anything I can do to help break the stall or just ride it out? It’s hard not to feel discouraged because I still feel like I've made no progress when I look in the mirror and when the scale doesn’t move it just makes the bodily dysmorphia that much worse Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Here I am less than 36 hours before I take my seat on the losers bench. Currently on day 12 on my 14 day liquid diet. Pause to knock on wood, I made it with out cheating and no major craving episodes. Hopped on the scale this morning and I'm down 14 lbs since my pre-op visit, 36 since I started this journey in March 2016. Someone today applauded my weight loss and commented, that if I can do this without surgery, why am I having surgery. Well my friend I said with a smile on my face. These 5 months have prepared me for the rest of my life. See, I've lost massive amounts of weight before, once I took phentermine and lost about 50 lbs, of course when I got off the drug I gained about seventy. About 7 years ago I went on a high Protein, low carb diet, joined a gym and exercised 6 days a week. I lost a whopping 90 lbs, of course along came a job change, a new roommate, a change in habits.... and I gained 110, imagine going to bed one night wearing a size 10 and waking up in the morning wearing a size 22. I know it didn't happen like that, but that's what it felt like happened. See yo yo dieting is real, the struggle is real, and the mind and body play tricks on you. Each time you lose and gain your metabolism slows, your mind tricks you into craving the sweet, the fatty, the salty. Your body wants more, and it stores more (fat that is). That's only part of my story, but you get the drift. I've gone through it, and that's why I am going through with it.

We already have a Vets forum.
I don't see the need to segregate the site further. PM if the need be.
I think we just need to be more supportive of one another--no matter how long or short our journey has been.

    My current/highest weight is 335 and I am 6"0
    My BMI is 45ish
I don't know if I will have to lose any weight within my 6 month pre op. I'll have to be 300+ to stay qualified and above 40 BMI but I won't mind dropping 20-30 pounds if they need me to.

I was the same, I had to wait 3 months to see the surgeon to get a date for my surgery and during that time I just stopped caring and ate whatever and whenever I wanted. When I saw the surgeon I was given a surgery date of 2 weeks away so had to start the liquid diet immediately. Although eating poorly for 3 months wasn't the best idea, I was well and truly ready for a change and so I haven't found the liquid diet that challenging as I am mentally ready.

I was really bad because my only requirement prior to surgery was to no fall below a 40 bmi........It didn't matter if I gained.......It was a very strange time because like you mentioned I normally ate healthy even though I was fat....I just ate way too much.........But once I was on the surgery path....if I wanted it I had it...
Now I'm a little over 8 weeks post op and this surgery is the best thing I ever did for myself!! I am staying on plan and so far down 52 pounds from my highest weight....that includes the weight I lost during the 2 week pre op diet......so 52 pounds in 10 weeks.....who would ever thought I would be able to do that?!!!

Who, now that they've started their process pre-surgery, has no control about what they're eating? Despite being heavy, I normally try my best to eat healthy. Ever since I started the process, I have no motivation and I don't want to be this way. My insurance doesn't need for me to lose a certain amount of weight before the surgery either.
Does anyone else feel this way or is having issues with this?? Any advice? Thanks!!
