  1. Consider yourself lucky... I have to do the liquid pre-op diet for 3 weeks, because I have a high Triglyceride level and it will minimize the bleeding during surgery. All you can do is make the best of it and start sampling protien drinks as soon as you can to find something that will work for you.:smile2:
  2. Wow!!! I see so much of myself in your story. I try not to think about it, but the little everyday reminders are always there. I cant wait for the day when my butt doesn't hit the arms on the chair when I sit down or when the inner thigh part of my jeans isn't the first part to wear out.
  3. I was starting to think that I was the only one who needed to work my way into the liquid diet. I am really surprised to see some of the weight come off already though.
  4. Congrats on getting a date and starting a new chapter of your life!! I am also self-pay and I am learning how much easier it is to stay motivated to lose some pre-op weight when the money is coming out of my own pocket. I figure that I am 29 and have a whole lot of living left to do and this is just the first step.
  5. I've just started using/testing out the isopure zero carb flavors. I got them at GNC, but they are $4 a bottle. When I settle on a flavor that I love I will get the 3-5 gallon size of it. So far I like the Icey Orange the best, but the Grape Frost is OK too. I take a few drinks and put in in the freezer until it is slushy... It is a very filling drink, I pretty much sip on it all day, but it is adding another 40 grams of Protein, so it will be worth it in the end.
  6. I will be banded on 3/28/2008. I am starting to get really excited/anxious about my new way of life. But I was wondering... If you had to do all over again what would you do different?
  7. I am new to the lap band experience. I am scheduled to get banded on 3/28/2008 by Dr Huacuz in TJ, MX. I haven't told anyone I know that I am going to get this done, but would love the support from someone who has gone through this or is in the same situation. Do you have any advice... Would you have done something different?? Let me know...
  8. Congrats on getting your date. I will be banded on the 28th by Dr. Huacuz in TJ. Are you getting anxious yet?
  9. I just got the results back from some blood work that I had done a few weeks ago. The tests indicated that my cholesterol level was normal, but my triglyceride level was high and my hdh was low. I am doing a low carb diet to try to bring my Triglyceride level down... I am scheduled to have lap band surgery on 03/28/2008 and I am worried that my liver will be too fatty to do the surgery. If anyone has any advise it would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Thanks... You will have to let me know how everything goes!!
  11. I am interested in finding out if anyone else will be getting banded around the same time as me. I am also interested in talking to other people banded by Dr Huacuz and hearing about your experience.
  12. I am scheduled to get my lap band surgery done by Dr Huacuz on March 28, 2008. I will be going down with a small group of other people also interested. When I was doing all my research I came across a patient coordinator that made all of the arrangments for me. The cost of the airfare was included, so the total cost of my package was $7500. This was a nice option for me, because I don't want the people close to me to try to talk me out of getting the lap band, but I also thought that it wuld be great to have the support of other people in the same situation. I would strongly recommend that you check around your area for places that do fills through fluoroscopy. We only have one place in my area that does them and they will not do them on patients that were banded in Mexico. I guess I would rather go to Mexico to have my fills done under fluoroscopy for $150 than have to have multiple fills here in the states for $300 a piece. Who knows I could grow to enjoy the mini vacations too!!:tongue2:
  13. I will be getting banded by Dr Huacuz on 3/28/2008 and would love to hear about your experience.:wink2:
