Before surgery they had put those things on me but after surgery they had them conected to an air pump and I went home late in the PM. and thats as long as I had those. I knew that they were clot stoppers. If I had heprin, I didnt know it!

Dear Pierced,, Some of us po folk have to resort to home brew, I don't think its called moonshine though, not in this region. It's strangely easy, Hot water, drip filters, n, gravity and um well, it happens when I'm half asleep...lol I absolutely love babies and children, young teens and all the crazed times in between. Letha g, your brothers face, and children when they don't know your listening, Vines, your sons humor Minnie me, the dark is gone now..How precious is that? Children are indeed my most favorite thing. There isn't a rotten one in the whole wide world. Each one such a mystery and treasure. God bless them. and may his face shine upon them!! Hi! welcome, and all that jazz. Ive never heard of anyone using heparin for the band. I used to inject that into a Hickman line for someone I was caring for as it kept the blood from clotting to the line. (that is a semi permanent iv type port used to administer Chemo) What do they think you need this for? Anybody out there ever hear of this??? As far as using codeine, you don't really need it if you want to use something else like Tylenol and or Advil in liquid form. Most people only need pain relief for a few days. So if you are allergic to it then don't use it! and yes it makes me very sleepy. I didn't like it as it was very constipating. Do not be afraid of asking you DR. everything. You must not be intimidated or made to feel like you are stupid for not "automatically" knowing this stuff. Ask and Ask again if you are unsure. I found that when I am even slightly stressed, Info just doesn't get digested properly to me and I have to ask some things several times to really get it. Its OK and you are important enough to take good care of. So take good care of yourself. The really good Dr's are glad to explain everything!

I found that not all of my friends needed to know. Some of my relatives know, I told most of my close family, but not all. I want you to trust your intuition and guard your heart. Tell those that you know will be supportive of this for you and only tell others after you have lost a significant amount of weight. I told someone after 6 months because she too is obese and is trying to loose weight and wanted to know what I was doing. I told her that I didn't tell everyone right away as the weight loss can be sometimes very slow and I wasn't sure how effective this is for me and since it is a removable item, I didn't want to do a lot of re-explaining if that were to happen. At first I wanted to tell everyone, why not I have nothing to HIDE but that wasn't the real issue. I don't like living under a magnifying glass and felt I was taking control of my life and that meant taking control of who I told as well. I believe that you aren't being unfriendly by not telling everyone, just private and discerning. Its like I don't tell anyone what color my underwear is! Its just not important!! So i think its a good idea to contemplate this before the cat is out of the bag.

Welcome to the band forum and welcome to getting banded. There are some foods that will be gone for good but for the most part there are many foods that you Can still eat. I found out that if I chew and re chew I can eat just about anything, but one band rule is... just because you can doesn't mean that you should!!! You will learn which foods will be band friendly for you!!

( Darn those Seattle Coffee Snobs) Lots of cold rain on a dark morning when you can sleep deep under northern nights flannel sheets and down comfortors while the sound of rain tinkling down the rain spout clinkles and drips and your automatic coffee maker starts perking and sending the SSMMMEEELLLL of fresh brew down the dark hallway calling your name as you think it over a while before getting up. use commercial pie crust like Pillsbury 6 eggs whipped 1/2c. swiss cheese 1/2c. Havarti 4 strips of crumbled bacon on 2TBS Bacon bits OR 1/2 c of finely chopped ham or ham slices.:hungry: layer meat on bottom then cheeses, press in slightly pour eggs on top slowly and sprinkle Parmesan on top with a little pepper bake 350 to 375 till center sets when juggled or knife comes out clean. about 35, 40 min. yummmmyy to my tummmmyyyy:hungry:

When I started getting brave enough to feel around my tummy I found a hardish kind of bump about the size of an old fashioned bottle cap. It was about 2 1/2 inches from my closest incision, actually the largest one. It is my port, my Dr is able to place it away from the entry incision so the scar isn't on top of the port for filling purposes. It can be pushed into the fatty and muscle area for quite a distance under the skin, so maybe this is what you have too?

Please be OK, OK? I would go to the ER, or call 911. Really! Let us know, Im praying for you!!

I made a song for my grumpy children. Grumpy babies go to bed, where they lay their little heads. There they fall fast asleep till they wake up nice and sweet! They hated it when I sang it, they were really grumps at times.

I want to give a great round of appreciation to all moderators and Alex for keeping the sanity for us. I have my PC in my living room where my children are welcome to observe my computer usage, as I maintain the right to monitor there usage. There is a great deal of hi emotions (perhaps because we are all hungry lol) and great thinkers here. I am so grateful to have free speech and I am also grateful to be able to manage my responsibility, to respect and defer to others. Most of all I am very graterfull to be able to seek support from the comfort and privacy of my own home. This technology widens our "family" boundaries to the entire globe. What an awesome privilege. I hope that there are others who have silently appreciated the excellent Job of our moderators. If we think about what their title is, MODERATOR, That means to me anyway to remove the extremes, and keep things in the middle ground. Not an easy task, especially because we are human an I know how extreme I have been in the past about some issues. So much of it remains objective. Lets face it, I couldn't do this job nor would I be able to do it,24-7, without pay and frequently under great scrutiny. So I want to say right now to all of our moderators. Ive already met my maker and He is sweet, kind and jealous for my heart. He died so that we could live in glorious harmony forever, and even though he knows the worst things about me, He still loves me and wants all my dreams to come true. Jessiebear, God is so good, he paired you with your dad because he knew you would honor him in is "older" age and he gave your your experiences to cope with him to comfort him properly. He is blessed to have you, I'm sure he knows it too. You can let him know about the prayers lifted for him here, let him know that total strangers love him and want the best for him. My prayer is that our country would experience a great revival in Christ Jesus and a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit would cleanse our land of the things that grieve the heart of God. He rode the EL to the Mercantile to sell newspapers and he also sold papers in front of the Chicago theater. I showed him his old hood and such on Google Earth and was he amazed, he is in his mid 80's. and I want so see Oprah!! too! Good luck in the OR!!

I have found many interesting things about me and food, like it had some kind of friendship or something. It was all a one way affair believe me. So how did your surgery go? I hope it went fine, and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Jessiebear, hows you dad doing? I'm so amazed that the gall bladder turned out to he his heart!!! Was he in pain? or suffer reflux, or what caused him to think he had gall bladder problems. A bypass is quite amazing in itself, did they have time to tell you of all the things they do in the process? I can be quite disarming, like the amount of tubes and IV's and such. How are you coping? I hope that peace is yours and your dads. I've been praying for a baptism of peace to be upon your family. Just soaking you all through and through. I know you are busy, so even if you put a thumbs up emoticon we can know to keep praying and that you are all doing OK. Thanks!!

I'm happy to say that banding was the that my reflux went away. I found a change right away, granted I started loosing too. Ive been off my reflux meds for a long time. It was one of the first to go. As for my allergies, I think I had a virus of some sort that kept changing. It would sort of go for about 5 days then return, but actually Ive been symptom free for quite a while now! YEahh baby! I just wanted to raise a flag to the fact that some problems are blamed on the band and really there is something more than at the surface. I'm sorry for you too Vlucky. Reflux really needs to be followed, as do nodes. Your voice is precious to have!!
