Oh, another false title. I don't care if people have time to start topics to complain about others. I can ignore [almost] anything. All I ask is that movie titles not be taken in vain so that my time isn't wasted.

It seemed to me that there was some tough love being given, as the tone of the original post was head scratching in its humour. Concerned people wanted to make sure the gravity of the situation was understood. Though maybe it could have been done more gently, we're all adults. The poster's reaction was defensive and attacking. This in turn will breed more emotions.
If I do something harmful to my health and mention it here, I HOPE someone gives me some tough love even if it doesn't feel well intentioned in the moment.

So when someone you counsel falls off of the wagon, do you coddle them or do you get tough real quick? We found out about five years ago that my dad had a 20-year pill addiction. My family didn't coddle him. We got him in rehab and we have ridden his ass every since.
In my opinion, one of two things will happen to all of these people who have no control with food consumption. In the best case, they will lose a handful of pounds while the sleeve makes it impossible not to do so. Then, they gain it all back because they never re-established their relationship with food. In the worst case, they'll have significant health problems (that could lead to death) because their refusal to stop eating inappropriate foods will cause a leak or worse.
    It is just food. Seriously.

I am only 2lbs away from being the lightest I have been since I was 20 (16 years ago)....I have been at this point many times before, but always began to self-sabotage and regained all I had lost and then some. I have no idea what my mental barrier was with the 15 stone mark, but self-sabotage is a non-option this time.
It's a really scary thought entering into this unchartered territory...I have no clue what I will look like and it just seems so abstract that I am having bother processing it just now.
I knew this was coming, but didn't realise quite how big an abyss the number 14 at the beginning of my weight feels.
    Anyone experienced similar?
Pats on the head and being told it will all be okay will also be greatly appreciated!

I would definitely contact your surgeon ASAP. You'll be lucky if you don't develop a leak in your sleeve. What you did was the equivalent of breaking your leg, then cutting off your cast 4 days after coming home from the hospital and trying to run a mile...
Look, I know how difficult the pre-op and post-op liquid phases are. You just want something substantial and solid, but this is major surgery and you just can't give in to the temptations, or you're risking your life.
Hope you get back on track, but really, call your surgeon.

If you gained 52 lbs in just 3 months you wouldn't consider yourself a slow gainer, or consider that to be healthy change to your metabolism.
This is a marathon, not a 500 yard dash. Long term success depends on you staying with the program in the long term and making healthy choices. It sounds like you are doing great.
My wife only has about 50 lbs to lose, she fully expects it take about a year.

I can walk for 1.5 hours when before 15 minutes would have been all I could do. I can stand for several hours at work now per day instead of sitting. I just hit my two-month mark yesterday and am down 31.5 lbs. Very motivated!

I used to in the beginning but more often than not, I was so happy that I can eat a piece of string cheese and be satisfied for quite awhile instead of feeling like a bottomless pit.
The only time that I feel like I miss it (very rarely now), is when I go to a restaurant but I've learned to just ask for a box at the time I order, and I can still enjoy the food for the next 3 meals at home. I'm only 9 weeks out, and I already can eat more at one sitting. I'm not looking forward to when my sleeve relaxes more as I've gotten used to eating 2-3 oz and being happy.

Shell Renewed reacted to theantichick in 8 days out can I eat eggs and turkey sausage?
As a nurse, I'm appalled at the thought of surgeons doing a major stomach surgery without giving a list of approved foods to eat at the very least until the first check-up appointment (which should be 1 week post, 2 weeks post at the very outside). The stomach has to be given a chance to let the incision heal, and the progression to a regular diet needs to allow the stomach to get used to processing food with the new configuration. I encourage everyone out there to demand, prior to surgery, at the very least a list of allowable foods for the first 2 weeks post, and a general roadmap of how the surgeon likes to see people move to a solid "regular" diet.

Unfortunately, the logic of "listening to my body" is not always sound. Most of us "listened to our bodies" and ended up hundreds of pounds overweight. Addiction to any substance, including (or maybe especially) food is when you can't recognize there is a problem with the behaviour. Feeling like it's probably okay because you want to do it. Addiction is a problem where your body tells you there is no problem, when there clearly is.
In my case, my surgeon had me on Clear Liquids only up until day 8. For me, that means Water. Lots of Water. But just water or broth. I don't need artificial sweeteners revving up my sugar cravings because I have eliminated sweets from my diet.
Day 8 is starting full liquids. Anything that is the consistency that could be suked through a straw. So water, Protein shakes and broth.< /p>
I was sleeved 9 days ago, and sausages and eggs will not be on the menu until Dec 12, assuming I have no problems with the intermittent stages and require staying on puréed foods longer.
As far as vomiting goes, avoiding vomiting is part of the reason for transitioning slowly onto solid foods. It goes without saying that vomiting should not be a part of your daily routine or considered normal.
Eating foods that will promote vomiting afterwards sounds an awful lot like a form of bulimia.

What does your bariatric team say? My surgeon and dietitian would have both horsewhipped me if I attempted sausage and eggs at 8 days out, and probably tried to retract my surgery, but unless we had the same surgeon, my instructions are irrelevant to you. So what are your instructions?

    1. I'm so close to "onederland" I can taste it. Or, err, not taste it as the case may be.
    2. I started rowing on Saturday, at the gym. The rowing machine kicked my ass. I vowed to it that I was gonna avenge myself and kick it back on Tuesday.
    3. I've consistently tracked everything that goes into my mouth via myfitnesspal for a month. The moral of that story: more Protein.
All in all, it's been a good nine weeks since surgery.
