  1. You could maybe see if you can take melatonin vitamins. I do that when I can't sleep, lately my mania (I have bipolar) has been so out of whack and I haven't been able to sleep but the melatonin helps. I'm not sure if you can take it so soon after surgery though! It's worth an ask though!
  2. I saw this picture and it really resonated with me. There are going to be days when you fall off plan a little bit but all you need to do is get back on that train. I wanted to share this because I think everyone can relate! This weekend I know I fell off a little bit, traveling is always extra hard on me but today is a new day! I'm back on plan and ready to take on some healthy meals. Onward and downward!
  3. @doingit4me2017 Thank you!! @Torriluv87 haha! Thanks! I would love a party! haha @sxynana Thanks! Yeah, I think I bought too much! haha I am going to return some! I know I shouldn't buy too much but at the same time most of the rest of my clothes are too big and look funny on. lol I should try a consignment shop, I wasn't sure they would have my size though! @AmiLou Thanks! I finally enjoy it as well! I have started wearing mostly fancy/cute clothes because I was stuck in tshirts and stretchy pants for so long I don't even want to put them on except to sleep in anymore! I also have started wearing make up. It makes me feel good. I don't really know how to use it that well though but I'm learning! I can't wait to get out of the plus size section!! @dmelchThat is AMAZING!! Congrats on your success! I can't wait to get where you are! @nessa87 Thanks! It is a great feeling! I am trying to control my buying and to remember it's just going to go to waste in a few weeks/months but I hate looking frumpy in big clothes too now! It's a problem lol.
  4. Before I decided to have surgery I wore clothing size 34/36 but really was stretching it and probably should have been a 38 or so at 540 pounds and 5'10. I tried on some of my smaller work pants, a size 30/32 but they were big so I decided to go shopping and get the next smallest size. When I went to the store they didn't have any 28's so I decided to give a 26 a shot...it was TOO BIG also!! I am now a pant size 24!! This is so exciting to me!! I could not believe it! I have not been a size 24 since 2008 after my lap band surgery (which failed miserably). I can not wait to see how small I can get! That was the best thing to happen to me in a while!! I am now down 225 pounds and weigh 315 pounds!!
  5. @emluv03 it's okay! Healing from surgery always makes your body go crazy. 3 weeks post op is always a hard time with stalls, you'll get through it! @mandybb stalls are the worst! @sxynana added!! @jen-2+1 it can be a struggle! At least you are losing again! @rockdaisy you are losing 3-4 pounds a week! That is not slow that's great!
  6. @klette0147 it's okay! Just get back on the wagon. @rubis72 you are sooo close to onderland!! @omieliz different scales always give different answers!
  7. So guys I am away this weekend! I will update on Tuesday!
  8. @roachbug Thanks! I've definitely had some hard times but I am moving onward and downward! You are definitely inspiration!
  9. @kayshabear Thanks!! [emoji16]
  10. wow @RoachBug!!! You have done AMAZING!!! I can't wait to get to the 200's and then onederland!!
  11. @kayshabear It''s hard when you have a support and then they go out of town! I'm sure you'll make it there by April!!
  12. @kayshabear Thats great! It can be hard to find the time sometimes! I couldn't exercise right after surgery due to complications so I feel like I am behind! I am loving the gym though!
  13. It is odd that each surgeon has different diets after surgery. At 2 weeks after surgery I was JUST starting pureed diet. If you are concerned I suggest you eat something soft like eggs, refried Beans, greek yogurt, fish, or making chicken and pureeing it with some broth, sauce, or milk. If you don't feel comfortable then don't eat something so solid. It is suggested to follow your surgeons plan but but I feel like thats more the rule for when you want to move faster than their plan, if you want to move slower that is up to you!
  14. I have a feeling it is just gas but I suggest you give your surgeon a call just in case it's something more.
  15. I'm surprised the nurse didn't give you a cream for it. I suggest going to your primary then if your surgeon didn't help. If regular lotions don't help you may need something medicated. I have to use medicated cream.
  16. @sherri~ Thats good! It's hard because I feel like I should have lost more by now. I know I have lost a lot though! I'm just greedy I guess. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one to not have a specific goal.
  17. Did everyone have a goal set by your doctor for you to reach?? I keep seeing people mention that their surgeon has a number that they want them to reach by so and so date. My surgeon did not set a goal for me. He just asked me where I wanted to go and said that would be good and even said that might be too much (200). What has been everyone else's experience? When I was at my last appointment I expressed how I thought I should have done better so far since I started so high (at that point I had lost 150 since surgery) They looked at me like I was crazy and said., "I'm going to pretend you didn't actually ask me that! You are doing amazing!" I still feel like I should be doing better though.
  18. Please don't feel discouraged. I knwo it is hard not to compare yourself to others but so many things contribute to how fast people lose like age, sex, and how heavy they are. You are doing great! I also wouldn't compare because your body can swell and retain Water because you are healing from a very serious surgery! Everyone's body heals differently. You have lost 12 pounds!! That is amazing! Be proud of what you have done. Also, it is VERY important to get in enough fluids and Protein or else your body will hold on tight to your weight because it thinks it is being deprived. That can also make you lose slower.
  19. I had the sleeve in May of 2016 and I also haven't down the low carb/high Protein only diet. I know I wouldn't succeed at that because I like carbs too much. I had tried a diet like that before and hated it! I follow a mostly weight watcher diet and 96% the meals I make are weight watcher recipes. You need to start with what you can handle. I like to plan meals for the week and do all my shopping in one day and then having the choice of which meal to make each night but knowing I have everything. I sometimes do some of the meal prep too if I know I'll be out late and won't want to spend time preparing that night. Different diets work for different people. It's all about what YOU are willing to do. I have lost 226 pounds using weight watcher recipes. I usually can only eat half a serving anyway. I also think maybe getting some therapy would be helpful to get to the root of why you overeat. You don't have to go forever. You can go to a therapist once, 3 times, or for years. It's all about however long you feel you need the help. It's nice to have an impartial person to help give insight to why you are thinking a certain way. I had my aha moment 3 days before my consultation for surgery. I called the minute after I had it to make my first appointment. I agree it is hard to lose weight when you haven't had an aha moment, which is why I never succeeded in the past. This time has been COMPLETELY different for me in my mindset. I would in the past beat myself up if I went off plan a little and then go on a bender because I'd just be like, why even try? Now I realize it's okay. It's okay to eat what you want as long as it is in moderation. I wish you the best of luck and if you need any help feel free to message me!
  20. What is your pre-op diet? I had to do 2 weeks of a 1000 calorie diet. I just kept myself busy and ate low calorie meals throughout the day. I actually didn't even eat 1000 calories most days.
  21. So I had extreme nausea start about 3 weeks after surgery. I couldn't eat, drink, or even smell food without being extremely nauseated. I ended up in the hospital for 9 days so they could give me fluids. That started 6 months of basically hell where I had a picc line put in so I could infuse nutrition and fluids directly to my veins because I couldn't eat or drink. I didn't eat or drink anything for 1 1/2 months and I was put on 5 different antinausea meds all at the same time to try and battle it but I was still very nauseous. After a month and a half I started being able to eat and drink a tiny but but not enough to give myself enough nutrition. So I continued with the infusions for about 6 months and continued to be nauseous all the time even though I had 2 Patches, and 3 by mouth meds to help battle it. Then one day I had extreme pain and started throwing up. They found I had gallstones and they scheduled a time for me to get my gallbladder out. The day I woke up from having my gallbladder out I no longer had any nausea. I think it was my gallbladder the entire time. I suggest you get your gallbladder checked. I do hope you feel better soon though!!
  22. I am 8 months out and I go to the YMCA about 3-4 times a week. I do 30-45 minutes of cardio walking around 1.6-2 miles. I also do weight machines every time I go. One day I will do my upper body then the next time I will do my lower body. I switch off each time.
  23. If I want something, I have a small amount. If you force yourself to NEVER have anything unheathy ever again I feel it's setting yourself up for failure in the long run. My nutritionists agrees that if you want something, just have it. It only becomes an issue when ALL you are eating is bad things. I like to treat myself with ghiradelli mini dark chocolate squares. They are only 36 calories a square but the definitely take care of my sweet tooth. I carry one with me at all times so if I am out I don't break down and buy something worse.
