  4. Sorry it's taken me so long to start this challenge, I've been going through a lot. This challenge will run from February 3, 2017 through March 24, 2017. This will give us a total of 8 weigh ins. I will do my best to post to the spreadsheet within 1 - 2 day of receiving your weight but I am working two jobs and taking 5 classes so if it takes me a few extra days I am sorry but I WILL have it updated as soon as possible!! Please note that I will recalculate the figures as soon as I can following the Friday weigh in - so your weight percentages may be a little off... I have made these Friday weigh ins because that will allow us to start as soon as possible. You may post your weight at anytime during the week if Friday is not your weigh in day! This challenge is for everyone. If you are pre op, post op, in maintenance or looking for some accountability; this challenge is for you! The rules and link to the spreadsheet are below! Procedures: Please Post Your Starting Weight (Weight on or around 11/14) and your Goal Weight (what you would like to weigh at the end of the challenge) at the start of the challenge on February 3, 2017. You can cut/paste this below and fill it in on your post - Goal Weight: Current Weight: Today's Date: Rules: 1. I will be awarding a prize to 2 lucky participants! The winners will be selected at random an the only thing you need to do to be eligible for the drawing is log your weight each week! 2.Post your weight on this thread every Friday. Specifically 2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24 3. If you change your screen name please let me know. 4. If you miss 2 or more weigh ins, I will assume you no longer want to participate and your name will be removed from the spreadsheet. 5. If you miss a weigh in on Friday, no problem. Just post it asap. 6. We are all here to support each other, if you post a question anyone can answer. 7. You will know your weight is updated on the spreadsheet once I've liked your post! The link to the spreadsheet is below! Have fun, and good luck with this challenge!!! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18mFrEfxi-VOlFkoSgiJzWVGclHea0cNUHJG6pqOkCVE/edit?usp=sharing
  5. I am 5'10 and I started at 540 pounds in October of 2015. I had surgery 5/29/16 at 480 pounds. Today 1/29/17 I weigh 324 pounds! This surgery saved my life! Before I had surgery I had to be on oxygen because I was so overweight it was pushing against my lungs. Even with all the complications I had after surgery I would do this again in a heartbeat! 9. I have taken the same meds the whole time. My doctor is changing how I'm taking one of my meds and we'll see if that helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  11. Thanks! It was super concerning for me because I haven't had such extreme swings in a long time. The doctor said basically the same thing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. For most insurance you have to fail cpap by not having your AHI corrected using the cpap for 60 days at least 4 hours per night. If you were initially prescribed a bipap that is because in a sleep lab setting they were unable to correct your AHI and your sleep study would show failure of the cpap first.Ah okay! Thanks for explaining that! That is what happened.
  13. Hey, so I have had depression and bipolar almost all my life (since I was 6), almost as long as Ive been overweight (since I was 4). I'm now down 210 pounds. I'm on a few medications to control my depression and bipolar (Latuda, Trileptal, and Wellbutrin). I've been experiencing a bunch of manic and depressive episodes recently. Has anyone experienced an increase in swings after weight loss? I do have a call in to my doctor but he probably won't get back to me until late tomorrow. I was just curious if this happened to anyone else or if I'm just crazy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. I'm sorry that happened to you. I had something like that happen to me at Target when I was near my heaviest (540). The girl who worked at Starbucks called out to the security guard who was 15 feet away from her "I didn't know you had a girlfriend" and he was like "what are you talking about" and she just pointed at me while I walked out. I was devastated. I didn't want to go back to that store for a long time. I did call the manager though.
  15. I have bipap which I think is nice because it has 2 different air pressures. A higher pressure for when you inhale and a lower pressure for when you exhale. I don't know if that's an option for everyone though! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I am 30 now and started my journey when I was 29 and 540 pounds. I had surgery in May of 2016 at 480 pounds. I am now 7 1/2 months out and am at 332 pounds. I didn't have an easy time with it but my case is unusual. I used a few books and one workbook: The Binge Eating and Compulsive Overeating Workbook: An Integrated Approach to Overcoming Disordered Eating by Carolyn Ross End emotional eating by Jennifer Taitz Food: the good girls drug by Sunny Sea Gold Friends with the scale by Linda Spangle Life is hard, food is easy by Linda Spangle You are a badass by Jen Sincero I do not have any experience with the acid reflux part of it. If you have any questions at all you can IM me too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  18. When I was admitted to the hospital with low oxygen and I was too heavy for the catscan machines. My doctor had to fight to get them to do it. I realized if I continued on the route I was on I was going to be so fat doctors wouldn't be able to treat me. They hardly were able to at my size then. I also had to go on oxygen because I was so fat it was pressing against my lungs. I called the surgeon as soon as I was released from the hospital. Highest weight: 540 Surgery 5/29/16: 480 Current: 335 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
