Any October Bandsters!??!?!
I noticed that Froggi began a spreadsheet for the November folks. I started one for the Smashing Pumpkins (October bandsters) if anyone is interested. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=petavzmGwmyXDmfW_fiKTYQ&hl=en If you send me your email address, I'll give you edit permissions. :-)

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
Wow, Renewed, you look completely different!!! I have a similar figure tho I need to lose more weight than you do. Now to ask the oh-so-typical question - how's the skin doing? Yanno, since so many of us are getting banded this month, I like to think of the surgeries two ways: 1) we are helping ourselves by helping our health! and 2) we are helping the economy by "spending" money! (Yes I am a cornball.) I saw that Froggi has begun a spreadsheet for the November bandsters that has surgery date, highest weight, surgery weight, and goal weight. Do we want something similar?? http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f283/notorious-november-weightloss-spreadsheet-77749/

I am just loving the word "footy" - it's killing me! The men in my family are all such football fans so it'll be fun to call it "footy" like it's some cute infant footwear! (Football is my favorite sport but I don't take it as seriously.) Jachut - I like way too many fried foods. Mentally maybe I'll just take a huge leap and say that all fried foods will make me PB once I'm banded!! :tongue2:

Funny Jokes
Hmm, I'd always wondered.... - The Silent generation, people born before 1946. - The Baby Boomers, people born between 1946 and 1959. - Generation X, people born between 1960 and 1979. - Generation Y people born between 1980 and 1995. Why do we call the last one generation Y? I did not know, but a caricaturist explains it eloquently below...Learned something new!

Funny Jokes
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies. 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. 5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans. CONCLUSION Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

Hair Salon Tipping..how much?
I don't understand why servers are still making $2.15 an hour! My roommate in college made that in 1988; wth? Anyway, I have a cushy desk job so I feel for servers and hairdressers that have to work on their feet so I tip 20% most of the time. Like Minxz said, I drop it if I have bad service. Plus, I pay $40 for a haircut in the Atlanta area which is pretty inexpensive so I don't mind the 20%. (And she's always so appreciative of the tip.) If she does something special and takes more time, I tip on top of that.

Jessica Simpson Hair Extensions
OK so I'm going to ask. What is "squizz"? Half of the vernacular in this thread had me perplexed! :crying: Jachut - what's a dimmie? I love slang; esp from outside the U.S.!! Southern Americans should band together and start speaking in colloquialisms! A business friend in Chicago likes for me to use our phrases b/c they amuse her so. Speaking of...I need to send her a new one soon! OK Southerners - have y'all heard the phrase, "ain't much punkin"? My cousin used that one lately and I had no idea what he was talking about! Fairy - very cool re: extensions! They clip in, right? Is the clip like a barrette? I'm like Libra - the hair frizzes, esp during the summer. I have fine hair but it's fairly thick thankfully. I may recommend these to a gf tho b/c she definitely has "male" pattern baldness going on. I feel for her; it's really really bad.

Up top weight loss (ladies)
H's and L's? I've never heard of such and I come from a line of bosomed women!!! I'm a 42DD (I think) and they seem plenty big! Doncha wonder why the bra manufacturers went to DD or DDD instead of just C, D, E, etc? Tanelle - L is the 12th letter of the alphabet so does that mean that your girls are 12" bigger than the band? Wow, that screams back pain to me! There's a woman at my office that has the biggest girls I have ever seen. She had gone through the whole process to have a reduction and her husband didn't want her to have one. I would've told him, "long walk, short pier." They literally are close to being to her waist. Gf could stand to invest in a fitting and good bras to hoist them up!

Questions - Cycle Changes Anyone?
Welcome to the 40's, ladies. I'm 42 and got off the pill around 38-39. I just noticed that my cycle is <28 days and it had been fairly solidly 28 days since I got off the pill. I've put on weight this summer with my "last dinner" mentality so I wonder if that's hurt me. Do you all feel like "how in world did I get to 40? College was just yesterday!" Luckily I always get people telling me I don't look my age. Hopefully once I am banded, I won't look older as the fat leaves my face! My grandmother says, "fat pushes the wrinkles out!" I love that quote. I'm rambling, sorry!

Sexism Rules!
Great retort, Glou!!! :crying: Hey Plain - give me your wife's phone number. After she kills ya, she can come hide out in my basement! Leslie - doesn't it also matter who it is that's making the comment? Certain men can say almost anything in front of me and I couldn't care but there are just certain men that are just creepy (actually, no, not Plain). Last summer, they loosened the dress standards to let women wear sandals to work. This former co-worker who was one of those men that would look you up and down, looked at my feet and asked where my sandals were. Skeeved me out big time. Thank gawd he left. Creepy.

That's funny! It seems like most American men like sports! Have you ever visited Chicago? It's a great city to visit; though I'm not sure that I could live there in the winter; brr! Per wikipedia, Atlanta had an estimated population of 5.1M at of July 2006 and Sydney has an estimated pop of 4.3M. Atlanta doesn't seem that big but it's rather spread out. I guess I deal with a big city like others do by just hanging out in your neighborhood and around your workplace! I grew up in very small towns so I am enjoying living in the "big city."

Does your DH or SO know how much you weigh?
I'm single but voted "no" b/c I know I wouldn't tell anyone. I had to go back 8 years and a PCP in another city to have my weight history b/c I didn't even weigh at the doc's. My family is obsessed with weight so I hope and pray that I can keep my weight from my parents during my surgery; esp my obese father. I guess it's OK for him to be big but not me. My 36 yo brother is 6'5" and 175 lbs; wth is that?!? He has always been slender his entire life. Sooooo unfair! I'm 5'4" so hopefully I can weigh less than he does eventually!!!

Your slangs are definitely hysterical...but in a great way! There's some newspaper headline that my brother put in his blog that makes absolutely no sense. Very funny! How far do you live from Sydney? I will definitely call my brother a 'bogan'. Hopefully he'll get the slam! He used to live in Pittsburgh, PA. They say "you'ins" a lot so the slam is to be called a "yinzer" (sp). My realtor here is also from Pitt so I called him that after I heard it. His eyes got big and he said, "I most certainly am not!!!" For my very unAmerican sports dislike is baseball. We have a saying, "That's as American as baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie." Yeah I'm good w/o any of those! And I'm southern and don't drink tea!

That's awesome, She! As I have mentioned 1 gillion times, my brother is working in Sydney. I am so gonna call him an ocker!!! :crying: I'll probably get in trouble for this but oh well: Speaking on for myself, I think of a hillbilly having few or no teeth, living in a trailer, up in the hills, HS dropout. (I believe the African-American equal is "ghetto"!) A redneck has a HS degree, drives a pickup with a gun in the back window and may or may not have a rebel flag; he's usually just country, not illiterate! (But not all gun-toting, truck owners are rednecks.) "watching the footy" - I love that phrase! That's soccer, right??

Confessions of a Sugar Addict
I too am a sugar addict. I don't do the binging in one setting but I can graze all day. Unfortunately I have been addicted to ice cream over a year. My plan, once I am banded, is to pretend that ice cream makes me sick like it does those with RNY so that I can hopefully break the addiction. I'd done it once while on Jenny Craig but of course, re-addicted myself. Be strong everyone!
