  1. Seriously! Thanks for the ear worm, Lulu! My mom's going to get KFC for her dinner. <insert stomach growl>
  2. I'm sorry you feel worse. :tongue2: IMO The Veronicas have seen a little success in America within the college/alternative market.
  3. I love makeup tho I haven't worn any since last Tues!!! I've been all about the (eye)glasses, no makeup, and ponytail!!! PS - I really despise Elizabeth Hasselbeck. FYI
  4. It's funny - my mom thinks I'm "brave" giving them up. I keep thinking, what good are they? It's just chemicals!
  5. That is hysterical! I did think that you looked a little like Posh but I figured it was the big sunglasses. OMG - I just sneezed. That was not fun!!!
  6. I had to quit doing drive-bys b/c of the one poster. She makes me wanna pull my hair out and I've spent a good year growing it out! I'm doing surprisingly well, thanks! I only take meds at night and that's to help me sleep which I have been doing very well, tyvm!!! I'm sleeping at least 12 hours a night! Woohoo! I slept on my left side a little even in the hospital. Not sure how I got so lucky but I'm thrilled!!! I'm shocked that I'm not missing diet Coke more!
  7. Oh Ruby, I hope I didn't scare you. My grandmother and mother have both had blood clots in their leg so that's why I got blood thinners. Do not panic!!! The thoughts I had were: how did I do this to myself? But that's neither here nor there! I'm obese and gotta deal!
  8. Food?!? Don't mention fooooood!
  9. naz-don't freak yourself out. the worst part for me was the lady getting the IV into my arm! I'm very lucky and have very little pain. you'll do fine!!!
  10. It just sucks b/c I still have hunger! But I'm being a good girl; though it may kill me!!!
  11. Can someone pls explain to me how I've been on liquids for 7 days and have only lost 1 pound!?! GRR!!!
  12. Hey Taos! I was banded Thursday and never really had any horrible pain, thankfully. I feel very lucky! I could definitely go back to work tomorrow but I've already asked off for 2 weeks and saved the vacation time so I'm going to just stay home and recoop and be a bum! The hospital gave me ice to put on my incisions which I really do believe helped. I stayed overnight so I had 2 blood thinner injections, 1 injection of Pepcid, bags of saline, and 2 bags of antibiotics. I had one small pain the first time I walked due to gas but that's all. I don't know how I got so lucky but I am very grateful! I even slept on my left side a little that first night. I came home earlyish Friday. I've only been taking the pain meds to sleep at night b/c I just really don't think I need them! (Not b/c I'm being a martyr!) You'll do well! Then you too can come back and tell the others how yours went! PS - I am bitter that I've only lost 1 pound since I began liquids on Tuesday tho!!!
  13. That's hysterical, Kat! I don't even pay attention to them much but that is really a stupid ad! Surely they meant, "Stop wishing. Start losing"!!! I'm in Georgia which the pundits have predicted will go Republican. A gf was in Wisconsin for business this weekend and said that it's an undecided state and there are sooooo many negative ads up there. I'm glad we aren't forced to listen to them, blech! PS - I've been on liquids since Tuesday and have only lost 1 pound. Bitter!!!
  14. i can actually drink a lot more than i thought i would be able to. i broke down and had 2 protein shakes today b/c i was starving!!! i had one coughing fit but other than that, i'm good. haven't had lortab since last night at 10pm (almost 24 hours)!
  15. I could sleep on my left side the night of surgery. My right side is still too tender so I'm guessing that's where my port is! I can't wait to be 161!!!!!!! Congrats!
  16. Aww She, I'm sorry. I definitely understand tho I'm off work now to recoop; halleluia!
  17. I thought that we had banished Kimkins fo-evah!!! Thanks for all the well wishes. I was kind of worried about the pain but I'm feeling surprisingly well considering. Whew!
  18. Y'all are funny! Technically, today, I should be "Ms. Newly Banded who is still hungry"!!!
  19. Hello other 16ths! I'm doing well; not sure how I managed it but I don't have bad gas. They had me up fairly early. My parents went home to sleep and a gf stayed with me. She's my triathalon friend so she was pushing me to go farther down the hall! I went to bed last night at 10pm and woke up at noon without having taken any meds! I'm pretty stoked! I do have to admit that I'm still pretty hungry tho. I keep thinking I'm on clear liquids so I guess I need to break out the protein shakes!
  20. Anyone seeing Kimkins ads at the bottom of this thread? Gah
  21. OMG - that's right!!! WOOHOO! :smile2: PS - i am starving!! fyi
  22. I'm post banded. I can't say enough about DeKalb Medical Center. They were all so good!
  23. I'm claiming Ms. Mojito then!!!
  24. Good job, Fanny!!! WTG!
  25. How sweet is everyone for thinking about me!?! Thanks you guys! I had such an easy time of considering what I was worrying about! The most "pain" I am in is where I assume my port is (biggest bandage) but it's more sore than real pain. I didn't hit the morpheine much at all - mostly to sleep! My surgery was at 8am-ish and I was in a room alert by 11ish (I think). I remember a nurse coming in around 2pm and was surprised how lucid I was. Oh, back up, the poor woman that tried to do my IV...it's a good thing I'm an empathetic sort b/c I reallyyyyyy wanted to hurt her. I guess after 2 days on liquids I was dehydrated b/c she really had a time finding a vein(?) in my left hand. (Do I really need to be slapped that often?) Then she tried on my left arm which hurt like hell and dug around so much that I almost fainted. Thankfully she got someone to help! I was majorly bitter! So the rest of yesterday was hanging out with my parents and then another gf and her son came to see me. Aww! She brought me a couple humor books and did I tell y'all that my boss send me flowers Wed? (His wife picked out the arrangement; it's gorgeous!) Since my mom + grandmother both have a history of blood clots, I had on compression socks and also this contraption that went around my calves that stimulated circulation. I also got 2 blood thinner shots. Rambling - when I was in pre-op, my nurse kept telling me breathe through my nose b/c I had the oxygen thingers in my nose. I was asked numerous times if I had been diagnosed with sleep apnea. Weird. So they watched my BP, pulse, and oxygen count. It had gotten down to 80 at one point. I brought home some breathing contraption (Voldyne 5000) to help. My triathalon friend stayed the night w/ me so my parents could sleep in a real bed at my house. She had me up and walking the hall. The first walk w/ my dad was very tiring but the other 2 laps were good! So anyway - the doc came to see me around 8:20 and said I was good to go. I finally got sprung around 10:30 i think. I didn't sleep at all yesterday afternoon but slept from noon-6pm today! And I only woke up then b/c my mom woke me up! Gah - 3 more weeks of liquids. I would kill for a cracker right now! I was very happy with the entire hospital staff; they were great! My throat is sore and my voice is hoarse but I'm thrilled with the amount of pain I have! Question: How long does it take for the gas to head to your shoulder? So far, I don't have that yet. Again, thanks for everyone thoughts! I am officially in the club!
