  1. @@TheRev Can I really make your day? Add a little bit of green enchilada sauce to it.
  2. So true! I used to love iced tea and crystal light. Now I can't stand it. I thought that I might be insane with the sense of smell. The smells are heightened to me. This happened within a week.
  3. It could be worse...BCBS of FL. They didn't cover wls surgery either. Between my wife's brain tumor surgery in April, all of her normal meds for her lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and Raynaud's disease, all of the copays for all of the doctors visits 4-8 month through June, her regular 2 doctor's visits per month and my Mexican surgery @ $4400 we have spent over 20k this year. Now her neurosurgeon is concerned and wants another MRI and we fully expect to hear that my son needs a set of tubes in his ears. Dang it, I meant to quote the OP and like yours.

  5. Thanks! No offense to anyone here but I'm not the kind of person who can just relax and heal. I'm the kind of guy who will seriously over do things if left to myself. For me I just need to push myself. Obviously my motivation was to enjoy my beautiful wife. She is a strong motivator! This is a good opportunity to practice pushing yourself to rest and take it easy.I've never been "that guy". I've had one sick day in my entire working career. I don't go to work sick. I just find that if I'm not feeling well relaxing doesn't do me any good. Doing anything is soooooo much better for me. Honestly if it wasn't for the fact that I had family here after my surgery I probably would have grabbed my air tools and used my engine hoist for lifting the front fenders and hood off of one of my trucks off to tear down the top of the engine. I just don't have an off switch...
  6. Shortly after we bought our house we had a run in with the neighbors across the street. They would play music insanely loud starting around 10pm and it would wake up my 5 month old son. I asked nicely 3 different times for them to stop. When the didn't comply my wife unloaded about 150 rounds of ammo into an embankment alongside our house. My wife stood there with a still smoking barrel and said if they ever woke my son again that they would never see the light of day again. The moral of the story is don't piss off momma!
  7. I absolutely hated my old scale. It was one of those super fancy piles O' poo that said way more than a fat man should ever know. It also required multiple button pushes on a small button just to get it to read my weight in pounds. I filled it full of lead and used it's pieces to fill my trash can. Liberating! I bought a plain jane scale that I keep in my bathroom and I'm soooo much happier.

  9. One of my lunch favorites is a breadless crab or shrimp melt. I put a pile of the good stuff on a plate and hit it with lemon juice and old bay seasoning. Nuke for 30 seconds and add a slice of havarti cheese. Dang good food!
  10. My sister is doing well. My mom died 6 months later. It turns out that she had lung cancer that we didn't know about. Her body quit fighting the cancer when she needed to heal from the bypass. It is one of the reasons why I fought doing this.
  11. I should also add that it hasn't been perfect. I struggle to get my water in everyday. Heck I can't even drink plain water. My exercise isn't as well as I would hope but isn't bad. My back also hurts from posture change. I dream of having a nice turd. Either way 90 plus percent is pretty damn good.
  12. Don't take this the wrong way but push through the tired. Go as far as you can today and go farther tomorrow. My motivation was sex. I wanted my wife bad but I was afraid of not being able to have any stamina. Day 5 afterwards and I was ready for slow and easy. By day 9 we were like teenagers.
  13. I had a problem with milk for years. I was tested and it was determined to be an enzyme issue not a lactose issue. So far 4 weeks post op I haven't had any problems. I'm going to try 2% milk this weekend and see if I can avoid a hospital.
  14. I certainly wouldn't go that far but thank you!
  15. I'm 4 weeks out today. I've had some great things happen. I've lost a total of 38 pounds, 19 pre op and 19 post op. 10.5 inches of fat man are gone. Mr. Happy looks longer because the "awning" covering him is smaller. I got out of my van on Saturday at a customers place and my shorts hit the ground. Best of all are in the pictures below. I went to Hawaii in 2005 and 2015. This is 2015. That is a 4x shirt that looks like I was wearing a tent. Apparently a 4 man tent... In 2005 I wore this 3x. I put it on last weekend and it fit great! The pair of jeans that I'm wearing I literally had to pray, lay on the bed and exhale completely to get zipped. Saturday they fit beautifully. Also I was having blood pressure issues since April. Guess what? NO MORE!
  16. I would love to drink "plain old water". I can't, it gets hung up in my throat. I'm getting away with propel water. I've done Gatorade g2, Powerade Zero, vitamin water zero and something else that I don't recall. Water though kicks my butt.
  17. If you find a recipe that you like please share it. I have never had a good turkey jerky. Also when it comes to Wild Turkey I can only do the breasts and thighs. After that it just has too odd of a flavor. If I found something that I could enjoy the legs and wings as well that would be awesome.
  18. I like a nice venison jerky don't get me wrong but you get me elk jerky and I am all over it!
  19. Southern Oregon. My sister and my mom both went to Tersigni back in 2000-2001. I went to Trinity Medical in Tijuana and I was extremely happy. They treated us amazing. How many places do you know that will take you sightseeing, buy your wife lobster for dinner and to an hour long massage? There is a coordinator in Grants Pass for them.
  20. As the saying goes, I was fast, cheap and easy. There is a country song by Tim McGraw called where the Green Grass Grows. There is a line in the lyrics about another supper from a sack, a 99 cent heart attack. That is definitely the direction I was headed. There is no way in hell I want to try anything that is going to jeopardize my future.
  21. Hahaha! I had my shorts fall off yesterday getting out of my van.
  22. I wish! I'm struggling with fluid intake because I'm not thirsty.
