  • I think I'm wierd because I have not noticed any changes in taste or smell nor hunger. It's all the same. Granted I am 9 days out, but still I'm not experiencing the same as most.

  • Yes, exactly same. I swear I can smell the salt in broth.

I've noticed a change in my taste buds as soon as I started pureed foods.............not necessarily a bad thing...just different.

So true! I used to love iced tea and crystal light. Now I can't stand it. I thought that I might be insane with the sense of smell. The smells are heightened to me. This happened within a week.

Ghrelin partial removal during surgery.....ghrelin modulates olfactory behavior and was shown to enhance sniffing and odor detection in rats as well as exploratory sniffing in humans....thinking since bodies are going thru all that change. Hormones do affect, before menopause (sorry men, it's a thing...lol) I loved fragrance and now can't use on sheets or clothing when washing. NY husband's cologne smells wonderful but too much and he gags me.

I'm 2 weeks post op and my taste buds have definitely changed. smoothies, yogurts and puddings I liked before are disgusting. I'm also not fond of sweeter things anymore except sugar free cherry Popsicles

My taste also changed immediately after. Vets, does it get back to normal?

I had an immediate change! Loved some Jello and broth pre surgery, and I'm almost two weeks out and can't stomach it still. All I can stand is savory, healthy food. Went with my mom to the wholesale club to pick up more Protein shakes and almost gagged passing the bakery. The smell which normally would entice me, disgusted me. Also really sensitive to cleaning supplies at the moment.

Anyone out there a few months or more that can say if it comes back? For me it's just about every food and drink I've tried is revolting. Really getting to me and now- I need to eat something I don't have to literally gag down!
