Your response totally is bringing me to tears!! Lol! Ugh! It made so so much sense! You're most certainly right. I kept thinking about the weight loss and NOT about the fact that this is shrinking my liver. I get scared that because I'm gaining, that it's not actually shrinking my liver! I sure hope that's not the case. Mine is two weeks as well & I'm definitely following EVERYTHING to a T! Nothing is out of place. Stress levels have been very low because I've been home for the entirety of it aside from the bit where I exercise or just go for a leisurely walk. I'm just going to focus on the fact that it IS shrinking my liver. Again, just thank you so much!! You've definitely pulled me far far away from the edge.

vegbeth got a reaction from Newme17 in Carbonation
I'm a very recent sleever but hope some day I can drink a little beer and champagne. I have no interest in soda ever again. Haven't been much of a soda drinker since I was a kid. Anyway my understanding is that any carbonation can be problematic for life. Still it's something I'm willing to give up if needed!

I was sleeved on December 28th, 6 days ago. I've cried almost every day since surgery and I've had my doubts but I do know that I've done the right thing. I'm sorry all these smells are making you nauseous. It's unfortunate that you have to deal with that. I hope that it is strictly inadvertent. Just try to hold strong. We can do this!

I had to share the best thing I have found to wear after surgery. I am down 3 sizes and am broke so I can't afford to buy a ton of clothes. I have been living in these leggings and tunics from Amazon, the leggings are very similar to LuLaRoe but half the price! They will fit all sizes to like a 12 and don't need replacing like regular pants. The tunics also fit a wide range of sizes, I am down 47 pounds and still am wearing the same ones I bought right after surgery.

I just throw on some riding boots and a necklace and I look put together even though I feel like I am wearing my jammies. Hope this helps someone.

vegbeth got a reaction from sleeveisa in 4 days post-op, finally able to drink water
I was expecting all the problems getting my Protein Shakes down and meeting Protein goals but had no idea how hard drinking Water (or herbal tea, Vitamin water, etc) would be. Even the tinest sip gave me nausea. This has been much more challenging than the shakes and protein. Today is better but wonder if I'll make it even close to 64 oz of water. I hope I can because I am so THIRSTY. Even though I thought I had prepared mentally for everything and even heard water would be a challenge but just didn't understand. I just hope eventually I can drink water more like a normal person!!

@@barcelona37 my nut said I would have to continue with the Protein Shakes but I know there are some high Protein veg foods like seitan. At this point I'm only 4 days out of surgery but I am committed to staying vegan whatever it takes. I brought a couple of Protein Powder individual packs to the hospital and my Blender Bottle as I wasn't sure they would have anything for me. I'm glad I did as they tried to serve me yogurt and ensure for my first protein meal. The hospital didn't even have soy milk to blend my powder with but Water worked ok.

Sleeved yesterday! Pain not to terrible but nausea is. I'm able to get up and walk around, put my shoes on, etc. still on IV pain meds so I think that helps a lot. I'm completely exhausted and have a hard time keeping awake but so far I'm doing great emotionally.

I have become addicted to My 600 Pound Life. I know that I was never that big but I compare my experience with RNY surgery to what they are going through. I know everyone's experience is different but I don't get some of these people.

vegbeth got a reaction from Lema in Typical goal weight for a 5'2 female..
At 5'2" I would like To get down to 131, a normal BMI. But my reaching goal is 125. The lowest I've been as an adult was 145 (for about a week) but hovered around 150 for a while and was a size 8. That seems large for my height and bone structure (small). I think a 4-6 is a more appropriate size range for me.

vegbeth got a reaction from kell911 in No preop diet, do you think a glass of champagne is safe 5 days before surgery?
So the only preop requirement I have is a liquid diet starting noon the day before surgery. The anesthesiaologist told me no alcohol 3 days before surgery. So wondering what other folks thoughts are on this. I've done fine on all my preop prep and lost more weight than was required.

vegbeth reacted to biginjapan in doubts & 2 days til surgery
I haven't had my surgery yet but, in anticipation of my own freak out, here goes:
Gallstones - all kinds of people get these, not just weight loss patients. You may or may not get them. Worry about that later, and just know that it is a simple procedure to get it dealt with.
hair loss - is temporary if and when it happens, and it will grow back.
Gas pain - temporary after the operation, just remember to walk as much as you can.
Hungry - some head hunger after surgery, but more than likely the hunger will be gone when you get past that stage. It may eventually come back, but use the first year to get yourself back on track without having hunger derail you.
chicken - probably. I haven't read anywhere that people can't eat chicken once they are back on solid food. That said, I guess there is a very small minority that can't eat meat after surgery, but in all likelihood, you won't be one of them. And, even if you are, there are lots of other options out there.
Happier - that's up to you!
We are all here because we made a choice to get healthier for ourselves. I would gladly give up chicken if it meant I could maintain a healthy weight for the rest of my life. I would not mind having my gallbladder removed if it meant I could maintain a healthy weight for the rest of my life. I know I will not enjoy the gas pains and Hair loss and head hunger, but those few days or weeks or months are nothing compared to being able to maintain a healthy weight for years and years. I don't want to deal with diabetes, painful knees and feet, back problems, heart conditions, sleep apnea, or any other number of problems that come with obesity. I want to dance again, to travel without fear (of embarrassment due to my weight or poor physical condition), and to enjoy my life. Despite the temporary inconveniences, the surgery will help be able to do that. And it will help you too. Focus on the long-term goal, not the short-term problems. Every problem has a solution.
