  1. jkend, i totally get how you are feeling. i am 4 months out and just got restriction. now i get it. i had NO self control before this. now i can get down 1200 calories a day max and eating is just not recreational like it used to be. you will get there...but i get your frustration. can you ask the doc for more fill? (i now have 8 in a 14 cc ap large).
  2. i just have to update you all! it has taken months, and i still need at least one more fill, probably more, but i can honestly say... i made a big bowl of my fave Pasta yesterday and...drumroll please... only ate about 1/5 of it. it didn't taste as good as it used to, and i just got tired of eating it. this did not happen to me until almost four months in...but it happened. thanks again for all of you who told me that what i could eat wouldn't matter as much as it once did...i thought i was a failure, but i am starting to feel like a real bandster. best to all on this board!
  3. that is wonderful! you look beautiful and glowing! i am so happy for you and would have done this a long time ago if i could have...i am 46 and feel young and hopeful again! congrats!
  4. have you been overeating? i don't have much restriction yet but when i overeat, my port sticks out and looks like a lump, and gets sore and painful. get it checked out, but it is probably nothing serious. please let us know how you are doing...
  5. Nortone, I feel for you...I have almost no restriction at 6cc/14cc band. I hope you get on track now and find your success!
  6. Nancy, you are right. I did not realize it was originally posted elsewhere, and I apologize for my mistake. Still, I wish people who are doing so well with it would appreciate how hard it is for those who aren't. I read all the stories, positive and negative, and I thought I would be one of the success stories. Maybe I will be some day. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
  7. Geez, Kat, she posted in the "struggling" category. Give her and US a break. Good for you, it is working for you...why don't you post in all the other threads where everyone is doing just great and leave us to this one. You have no idea how frustrating it is to go through all of this and not have it work. Seriously, have a heart.
  8. i am really happy for you and i wish i could say the same, but nothing is working for me. please can you give more specifics about what you are doing? i am so discouraged i just want to give up.
  9. i love love love your screen name!!! i started at 312.5 -- it's coming off slowly but surely. keep us posted!
  10. what happened? i really wanted to read this post...are you okay?
  11. everybody has a different pain level, different pain tolerance. i was miserable for a couple of weeks, and if i had had to FLY the next day, forget it. i promise you will feel better soon. but who told you it wouldn't hurt?
  12. i just got my second fill -- 3 more cc for a total of 6 cc in my ap large band. i can honestly say this is the first time i have felt restriction, but i notice it lessening since i was filled about 24 hours ago.
  13. i had really really bad gas from the instant breakfast and finally realized i had some lactose intolerance happening -- i had never drank that much milk before and didn't realize i had it. i called the nutritionist in my surgeon's office and she let me start some soft foods early, like eggs, to get my protein in. if you think you might have the same problem, maybe call them? good luck. the pain does go away!
  14. is this a joke? you lost 26 lbs in less than a month and you are disappointed? i was banded may 23 and have lost way less than you. try not to compare yourself to anyone else, but you are doing great!!! i didn't have restriction until yesterday with my second fill, so i hope to get to 26 lbs. one of these days. keep up the great work!!!
  15. i am so sorry, lulubrat, and i feel for you. have you ever had your thyroid checked? i am not losing and it may be due to my thyroid -- they put me on meds recently but it has been hard to regulate and is still slow. i hope you find a solution because i know how very frustrating and demotivating this can be. keep us posted!
  16. i love this thread! i am so glad you made friends AND got to go on the coasters together! this will be one of my big NSVs, tho it will be a while for me (i haven't been under 200 since i was 18 and i am 46 now)! i am in michigan -- maybe i can hook up with you on next year's trip!!!
  17. thank you, slinderella, for this post, and thank you to everyone else who posted. i am post first fill (two weeks) and have NO restriction and still no self-control. next fill on august 4. can we keep this thread going and keep each other posted? after reading how everyone has lost 60 lbs. after a month i feel so much better reading this thread. it really made my day. best of luck to all!!!
  18. steve, so sorry about your divorce and best of luck on your surgery. i will be following your progress and hope that you will be able to spend much time with your daughter!!!
  19. dionna and tp - thank you so very much for responding. i was having a really bad day. everyone, please accept my apology for that self-indulgent post, especially on a thread where people were happy about their accomplishments. i would delete it but if it's okay with everyone, i want to leave it there to remind me never to do that again. taradefrank and everyone who is losing fast, i truly am happy for you and will work harder to join your ranks. again, please forgive the tirade and best to everyone.
  20. I HATE MY LIFE! i was banded may 23 and have only lost 20 lbs at best. why can't i be a fast loser? i am so depressed. i suck, even at this. even with surgery. i have had one fill and still feel no restriction whatsoever. i hate this. congratulations, btw.
  21. i took mine every 4-6 hours until it was gone and i needed it, but just as it ran out, the pain was tolerable. i know it seems hard to believe but the pain will go away soon. until then, do what you can to manage it! good luck!
  22. hi liz - i hear it is different every day. go figure! can i ask you a question? i had a 3 cc first fill, like you did, on july 7, and feel no restriction. did you? now that you have had another 2 cc fill, is there a difference? can you describe it? thanks so much and keep up the great work!
  23. no answers here, but i am sending support and encouragement. the only failure would be to give up. don't give up!!!
  24. CONGRATULATIONS! this one is definitely on my "to do" list!
  25. 14 cc band here too! i had surgery with empty band on may 23 and first fill of 3cc on july 7. i still feel NO restriction and go for my next fill on aug. 4 but have been thinking about trying to go sooner. has anyone ever called to ask for an interim fill? what happened?
