  1. I love the movies, but don't get to the theater very often. My kids tend to monopolize my time when I'm not working, and the closest movie theater is about 45 miles away. So, when I do get to the movies, it's usually something kid-based. The most recent movie I saw was "Hotel for Dogs", if that tells you anything. Thank goodness for netflix!!
  2. plain replied to luluc's topic in The Lounge
I just assumed he was gay.
  3. Uh, I think that was tongue-in-cheek He said that to hold them until the police could respond. Kinda like "don't move, or my dog will bite your ass". It's not like he just sic'd the dog on them. What's the problem with holding criminals at gun or dogpoint until the police showed up??
  4. Then you should never, EVER come to Texas!!
  5. Well, fair enough. I really am not trying to be ugly here. I guess by "piss on my joy". I meant that I found your post to be extremely one-sided and emotionally negative....which it is to you. But using generalities ("the band sucks") is really skirting the line between helpful information and propaganda. See, somebody could come along tomorrow and say "The sleeve sucks. I had one and I had problems. Total gastrectomy is the way to go", and then toss in some stats, say that many sleeve patients contact them every day...and voila'! My point is, I'm sorry that the band failed for you. I'm equally happy that the sleeve is working for you. But to post that of all the band patients, the MAJORITY have (or will have) the problems you had is a little misleading. To be fair, I've not seen you post this kind of stuff on the general boards, where (IMO) it does not belong. Come out of the closet? I'm sad that you feel that somehow you'll let everybody down by saying that you're less than happy with what the band has done for you. I'm sad that you feel like you've had to lead a quasi "double life". See, I have no problem whatsoever with individuals saying that.....that's just being honest. And I don't have a problem with you telling newbs that....the only glimmer of a problem I have is implying that band failures are not on an individual basis.....that they're system-wide failures (and I haven't ever seen you post anything like that). I haven't seen enough data to take that as a valid conclusion. That is funny, BJean. I haven't yet had success (to me, that implies a finality). I've lost a lot of weight, but frankly, I'm still a fat dude....maybe not super morbidly Jabba-the-hut obese, but still fat. I'm still "in progress". I'm not totally convinced that there is a "success" with the band (or any WLS, for that matter), because I will have to struggle with it and work for the rest of my life. Maybe....but there is always the struggle against "head hunger", right? IMO, that's the real demon that we all fight against, with whatever tool that we choose.
  6. I can't imagine the lucky bastard that gets an intimate encounter with Ms. Suleman....crazy chicks are HAWT!! Brick, are you just looking around the office and saying you love things? Well, I mean....there's regret and there's "I have 14 children with no way to support them". I have done some things I regret, but....ya know.....
  7. I know, she's a kook. She makes Christians look bad. I can kinda follow some of her arguements, in theory, but then she lets loose with some full-blown crazy....So why do I sometimes find myself sticking up for her? No, really, why? Eh, I don't ever post anything on there I wouldn't mind losing. But if I hear an unknown comic using my stellar wit to catapult to fame, I will.....pay them a visit? Was he?
  8. Wow, wish I had read Wasa'a novel-length post before I got banded.....not. I know you love your sleeve, Wasa, and that's cool that things are fab for you now, but c'mon..... How many times did you point out that the problems you had put you in the MAJORITY, not the minority of bandsters? That may be your personal opinion, wasa, but you toss in some statistics and make it sound like a well-researched fact. It's not. Anywho, I'm not trying to pick a fight either. I just don't get you sometimes....either you are the most altruistic person on this board, or else you get fixated on a few "pet" topics. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt if you'll quit trying to piss on the joy I'm having being banded. Just be as happy for me that the band is working as I am for you that the sleeve is working. Deal?
  9. Congrats! You're doing great!!
  10. PB = "productive burp" A PB is when a bandster either 1) eats too fast 2) eats too much 3) swallows too large of a bite, or 4) eats something the band doesn't agree with. It is analogous to vomiting, except not as "violent" (at least not for me). The food is stuck above the stoma, so it comes up pretty easily....more like a cough-up or a burp-up than a true vomit. It is not pretty, nor does it feel good. PB'ing can be minimalized by following all the doctor's rules.
  11. Ok debam, I have my fingers crossed for you! Good luck!
  12. That's why you have to search diligently, Russ. Some will tell you Dr. X is a god.....then some will say he's a butcher. Keep looking, weigh the opinions, and make the decision that's best for you. Good luck!
  13. Hi jamiru, welcome to lapbandtalk. Unfortunately, we have very little in common physically, so it'd be difficult for us to "compare", LOL. Good luck!
  14. You mean that stuff isn't real?!?
  15. Hey, we share many of the same political views, Dan...er....Diablo. I agree that most of the illegals are hardworking. The thing is, America has limited resources. Let's fix things for American citizens, then look at immigration reform. Yeah, the conditions are pretty rough. I went to college in San Marcos, and went to Matamoros (sp?) once. The poverty was pretty bad. I can sympathize with anybody wanting to improve their quality of life....but at the same time, we have to be real about how much further the American taxpayers can go. Shonda, that's a fantastic theory, but it just doesn't play in the real world. Did you know that Mexico is hyper-vigilant about letting south Americans cross into their southern border? All he did was hold them until the police showed up. If he were really evil, he would have just killed and buried them. He has 12000 acres....that's a lot of body-burying room. I wish I had that much.....but now I've said too much. That's right....the first line of liberal defense is to cry "racism". And America is essentially an evil country. Eh, you're not going to win many debates with that, BJean. Wrong. Rush is far right wing. Ann Coulter is far right wing. Neither have shows on Fox. The most right-wing person on Fox is Sean Hannity, and I don't watch his show. Fox is a conservative network, not a right-wing one. There are even *gasp* conservative democrats (called "blue dog" democrats). And all other networks are moderate???? That's funny. Lol....yes you are....."America hates Mexicans because they are racist" (justification)...."Conditions are really bad there" (justification)..."Big money's greed invites them here" (justification) Heeheehee...agree 100% All the dude wants to do is run his ranch without people destroying his fences, outbuildings, Water supply, and livestock. Do you have a fence around your house or apartment building?
  16. Don't forget my personal fave....charcoal-lined drawers. Amen. I could have lost at a much faster rate if I strictly ate only healthy food.....but there is quality of life to consider. I'm happy losing at a slower pace, knowing I can occasionally eat something "bad" if I want to. The band has helped with my portion control, which is EXACTLY what I need. That's why the band doesn't feel like a "diet" to me. Too late! I already blame the patients. There's an old healthcare joke that the job wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the patients...
  17. I resthent your mockery, madam! No big deal, she was sent to a county hospital....hey wait...I work in the equivalent of a county hospital!! I'm sure there will be no repercussions for the poor hospital that has to eat this bill.... What's the big deal? That's how I look when I take my shirt off....except my lips are smaller. *record scratch*
  18. Meetup just to meetup?
  19. Hey, I'm still here! VD day? They have a day for that? Guess the wife'll have to get me another gift this year. Woah, that's a lot o' beef! 2 quarter pounders add up to.....well...math skills aren't what we're talking about here. You bastards! How come I was not invited to this lunch?!? 6 hours and I'm there. And don't give me any of that "you're a quivering bowl of jelly in Houston traffic" stuff, either. Hey, my thoughts exactly. Damn Marti Gras....... Here's hoping I push us off the number of the name of the beast.
  20. Well....I don't think I would. I know some others on here that might, but I think it's a little intrusive to give a very strong uninvited opinion. See, your post where you explain your rationale has some valid points....but the fact that you had to explain why you did what you did tells me you came on a little strong. Ok. That's the thing. Headhunter was exactly right on some things. Every surgery has it's risks, and they all should be researched extensively (the good, the bad, and the ugly) before you make your decision. I just thought it was a little pushy to give unsolicited advice. Maybe it's a cultural thing?
  21. Any big name groups playing?
  22. Woah! That control! That form! I give your performance a "9.8" (2/10 point deduction for not wearing a leotard (sp?) LOL
  23. Hang in there, skeeterbait. Your time is coming!!
