    "I'm not that hungry."
"I'm watching my diet -- it's almost summer!"

    "I had a big Breakfast."

    "I'm cutting back."

Smile and look back towards the general conversation. No reason to entertain further discussion.

This morning I finished 13.1 miles and it was AMAZING!!!!
Celebrating 145lbs lost so far....I was able to run with my son on Friday in the Disney kids races and then able to finish my half marathon race today! Tough, emotional, painful....but so rewarding.
Highly recommend the RunDisney for anyone looking into racing. This was my second attempt at a half marathon. The picture on the left was about 2 years ago and maybe 80/90lbs heavier. I only made it to mile 9 and my body gave out. Still an amazing experience but nothing on what it felt like today crossing that finish line!

Yes, I do. Any non-caffeinated Fluid counts toward my total (including crushed ice and sugar-free Popsicles).

When I embarked on my wls journey, I truly expected to become an evangelist who would spread the word to my obese friends.
I recall people in my support group urging secrecy, but I argued on behalf of "sharing the good news".
I did tell a few close family members and all were supportive, but my 93 year old mother got problematic almost immediately. She was full of misinformation based on 50 year old hearsay. She also kept talking about it to people I'd never dream of sharing with.
Within a few weeks we decided to go dark and not tell anyone. I spoke to my mother (rather sternly) and told her to not tell anyone about it. My wife called the people my mother spoke too and asked them to honor my privacy.
That was 7 months ago and so far so good. The problem is that I lost a lot of weight pretty quickly (95 lbs in 7 months). We are very social with hundreds of friends, most of whom are overweight, and all want to know "how I did it".
I have honed a story that's close to the truth (minus the surgery part), but I'm sick of lying to so many of my friends.
If I had it to do over again, I would have been open from the start, but my wife disagrees. She's been 100% supportive and thus I respect her wishes, but I'm so sick of the lying!

Honestly, I would get a 2nd and 3rd opinion on that. Is it possible that he prefers the more frequent visits (hence more frequent payments) that come with the Lap Band? I hate to think that way but money making is a big motivator for many physicians.

Maybe they should also market the "bro" or "manzere" (Seinfeld reference) for man-boobs, post WLS.

Not sure if I'd refer to them as "men".
Now....if a dude had 1/2 his arse ripped off by a grizzly bear....then sure....go right ahead and roll with the padded gear......but outside of that.......hell, what do I know ?

Reminds me of a joke. A university of Texas guy was at the beach, and noticed this guy from OU was getting all the girls. He asked what his secret was. The OU guy told him "wear a tight bathing suit, but put a potato in it." The next day the OU guy goes to the beach and hears cry's of horror and disgust, so he looks and yells to the Texas guy, "Put the potato in front you idiot."

I tell some people, I don't tell some people. I don't feel any less honest when I choose to not tell certain people. I owe nobody an explanation about my personal life.

Hello, I haven't been on the site for awhile and wanted to post my progress.
As my last post said I still had my drain, well it was removed two days after that post. I feel great and I'm down 45 lbs so far. I'm on soft foods and I haven't had any trouble with any food so far.
I hear a lot of people talking about the three week stall and I'm happy to say I didn't have one. I'm 5 weeks out and 2 weeks of a liquid diet pre-op and loosing every week.
I'm off of 7 meds and no more shots for sugar.........
This is the best thing I ever did for me!!!!

This is me. I'm now starting to appreciate my progress so far, yet know I still have a long way to go before I'm satisfied with myself. Of course the long picture is current as of 6 days ago. I'm right at around 250lbs at 6'5. The upper right pictures was me at my absolute heaviest weight. Again that was about 598lbs and about 9 years ago. The bottom left picture was about a month post surgery. It hard to tell in that picture, but I was down 130lbs from my heaviest weight. So the journey continues, but seeing these pictures keep me motivated to continue.

Since we are on the subject of protein/veggies. I brought this up with my surgeon during my 6mo appointment. I made the comment I wish I could eat more veggies, but find that hard when I am trying to get 100g+ of Protein in. There just isn't that much room in my new stomach for both. He replied with "Well I never told you that you need to get a certain number of grams of Protein a day. If you want to eat more vegetables than do so. I only needed you on high protein the first few weeks to help the healing process."
Since then I have cut back on the amount of protein and added more vegetables in my meals. Instead of 4.5 to 5oz of chicken/beef I will only do 2.5 to 3 and add a lot more vegetables. It certainly helped in the bathroom department if you know what I mean. Now I feel like I am eating meals that are more balanced. It hasn't effected my weight loss at all.
I'm only sharing my experience. It seems from reading this forum there is no "right" answer as every doctor and/or nutritionist has different recommendations. For me I know what I should and shouldn't eat. Lean meat and vegetables if I am eating more of one over the other aren't going to make be fat again.
I track everything good and bad in MyFitnessPal under OneDollarBill. On average I consume 1000 to 1200 cal a day and my protein is 70 to 90g

You fool! A male only picture thread?! This forum can't repel testosterone of that magnitude! All the women are going to start creeping this thread looking for their daily dose of beefcake.
I actually do like the idea of a Men's Picture thread. On the others it tends to turn into "Here is my new outfit and latest duckface pic" I am 2lbs away from my first goal. I will post my first picture here for that occasion!
