@@Dknal2 I totally agree with you.....I can't even imagine my HUSBAND insulting me!!! It wouldn't take much of that at all before he would leave whether he wanted to or not! No one deserves to be treated that way.

Sounds like there is much more going on then just disagreement concerning surgery......the "size" of a woman he loves should not make a difference. When you truly love someone you love them for what's on the inside. If you haven't had a good sit down talk with him you should start there.....if you have already done that......well I'm certainly not a marriage counselor so am not qualified to give advice.....but if I were in your shoes I'd be pissed....sorry I'm sure that's not helpful.
Good luck to you! Hang in there and do what's best for you.

kmorri got a reaction from Amany in How long until you start feeling "normal" ?
@@AchieveGoals and @taracutch Hang in there guys!!! As far as being able to drink without pain or discomfort for me it was between day 6 and 8. and I don't think for me it was painful to drink but everything just seemed to taste terrible, but that went away between day 6 and 8 post op......But I really started to feel normal again once I was able to start eating normal food in the pureed stage and that was at the beginning of the third week for me.
The feeling of being full for me is different, and I didn't feel it at all until I started on more solid type foods....like chicken and fish.......before surgery you know how when you sat down at a huge meal and you've eaten a lot already and you know your're full, but you think to yourself....but this is sooooo good....and you eat more just because there's food still on your plate, and then you're miserably full but your not sick??? Well, you won't ever feel like that again.....What I've found is there is a very fine line between "just enough" and one little bite too much.....so far it's happened to me twice since surgery on 5/16/16......I've eaten one bite too much and within seconds I was running to the bathroom and it comes right back up! Not fun!!! The trick is to first, always measure your food, eat slowly, and not to eat until you feel full, but rather eat to feel satisfied. I haven't cleaned a plate since surgery. My little dog has really enjoyed this surgery!!! hahaha...........I've found for me as soon as I feel the slightest feeling like I need to burp it's time to stop!!
This surgery is the best thing I've ever done for myself!!! The first couple of weeks were rough but since then it's been great and does exactly what I hoped it would. Good luck to you both!

kmorri got a reaction from GBLady41 in watching a video of the surgery should be required!
I think part of the pre-op requirements should include watching the actual surgery. I honestly believe some folks may not have a clue what was actually done to their insides. I see so many posts from early post-ops saying they are having trouble sticking to their "post-op diet" and have "cheated"............I don't think these folks understand it's not a diet it's a prescription! I don't think they understand that they are risking their lives by eating solid foods too soon....I get the feeling that they think when they eat something that's not on their plan they just think it will slow down their weight loss...........not that it may kill them!!!...........okay I just had to get that off my chest! End of rant!

Hi I'm 56 years old and my surgery was just this past May 16th so I'm less than 3 months post op. I feel like I've done really well so far. I've lost a little over 56 pounds (this includes the weight I lost during my 2 week pre-op diet) and am now officially more than half way to my goal weight!
You'll do great! This is the best thing I've ever done for myself!

I'm certainly not a true "vet" yet.....just a little over 8 months post-op, but I met my goal weight a little over a month ago and I plan on sticking around. I have always believed you can give proper advice without stomping on someone's feelings.....Any time I respond to someone, before I click the "post" button, I read what I've said. There is NEVER a reason to be snarky with anyone. That doesn't mean I'm going to tell someone it's okay to eat a pizza 3 days after surgery....but I'm also not going to tell them they are stupid for thinking they can.
    Happy Friday everyone!!

Thanks for all the comments. It helps to know that I'm not alone. I'm 67 years young and 100 lbs overweight. I've gone from a chubby teen with a nice smile and great personality to a mother/grandmother who prided myself in being full figured and curvaceous. But the truth finally has me saying that I'm morbidly obese and will not live to see my grandchildren reach their dreams. So, I'm in the testing preop phase of my journey. Every day I focus on what I need to do, have patience, be humble enough to ask for help and listen to what works. My faith will be a strong force for me through this. I'm a pro at dieting...I now want to be a grateful woman who is blessed to have found what I need to live life. All that I've read by everyone has helped me. And maybe I can pass along to someone else the gift I have received.

Please don't worry about stretching your sleeve.....it won't happen especially with liquids. You will not feel true restriction until you are eating solid foods. Continue to work on getting all your Fluid and Protein in and know that you will not stretch your sleeve with liquids. It sounds like you're doing very well with little to no pain. Keep up the good work!! And it is fantastic about the walking. The more you can walk the faster you will heal!
I didn't have much pain at all either so we're the lucky ones. Make sure to stick to your post-op eating plan and don't be tempted to move through the stages faster than prescribed by your doctor. Remember, even though you feel okay with no pain your stomach has a huge staple line that will need time to heal............The time will go by before you know it......I can't believe I'm already over 8 months post-op. :-)
    Good luck to you!!

Hi! Congrats on the "not being hungry".....I'm a little over 8 months post op and I'm like you. I had no hunger at all for about the first 5 months.... I have to say that once in a while now I do feel a little hungry but, I feel like it's only when I should be and I'm easily satisfied by my very small portions.......I've stuck to a low carb diet throughout my weight loss phase and that in and of itself keeps you from being hungry, so I think it's a little of both. Now that I've met my goal weight and moved into maintenance I'm trying to add in just a few more carbs and so far it's working for me......I can tell a difference on days where I may eat too many carbs I feel hungrier on those days......at this point it's a balancing game. :-)
From what I understand the hunger may come back at around a year, but I really think for me it has a lot to do with the combination of surgery and low carb........What my surgeon kept drilling into my head was to make sure I took full advantage of this "honeymoon" time so that's what I did. I met my goal in 7 months!
Good luck to you! I look forward to hearing about your progress.

This is why I picked my goal weight rather than allowing anyone else to pick it for me. My goal weight was 150 I am 5'6".....I'm now at 144.8, just because I want about a 5lb cushion....any lower and I think I would start looking a little sickly.
So what I'm saying is you will know when you're at the weight where you feel comfortable.....nothing says you "have" to go lower than where you feel like you look your best. :-)

Wow those look amazing, I'll have to try them. So I made the honey teriyaki chicken for me and my wife and it was REALLY good, and I have about two pounds left to eat during the week. Super healthy too, one 4 oz serving is only 127 calories, 5.1 carbs, 1.6 fat, and 22.4 Protein.
    Here's a before and after:

I don't use a lot of recipes....I'm more of a "throw it together" type cook. It does a great job with pork roast, and beef pot roast.........I made a really good pineapple chicken breast with bourbon sauce the other day too....I just made up the recipe myself but I did type it up for some folks who wanted it so here you go.
Pineapple chicken Breasts....Easy quick and AMAZING!! Salt and pepper, pineapple rings, pineapple bourbon sauce (see pic)....I browned chicken on sauté setting for 10 minutes on each side...added one cup of chicken broth, brushed chicken with pineapple bourbon sauce and put pineapple on top....placed both breasts on trivet, manual high pressure 10 minutes.....quick release. I thickened the juices on sauté setting.....I did put the breasts under the broiler for a couple minutes because I like them browned.....it tastes wonderful!!! Yum!!!
PS if you can't find that Pineapple bourbon sauce teriyaki would be good too.
