  1. Kaiser Fremont takes forever and one of their surgeons is out on maternity leave so it's taking even longer. They do fast-track people with Type II Diabetes.
  2. You can have a band put around the pouch or you can get Stomaphyx where they tighten up your pouch and stoma. These only help if the problem is that your stoma has stretched so you don't get that full feeling any more. If the problem is that you need more malabsorption than RnY gives you, there is the DS. If the problem is in your head and you won't do the work, eat a lot of slider foods, don't exercise, sabotage yourself, etc. ain't nothing you can revise to that you won't learn how to get around.
  3. People were bored, people couldn't sleep, crap happened, jokes were cracked. Oh and LuLu took 4 pregnancy tests because her dh is paranoid and smsmithart is eyeing a sausage. I think that about sums it up.
  4. I don't know about older members, but I have seen time and time again people coming here and to other WLS boards and saying things like: I was going to get WLS a year ago but I got so encouraged by losing weight on the pre-op diet, that I decided to do it on my own. But I gained back X pounds and here I am to finally get it done. I'm really sorry I didn't get it done a year ago. OTOH, I've never seen anyone on a weight loss board say they were going to get surgery but lost weight on the pre-op diet and it's two years later and they are so happy they didn't get surgery. And I'm on a lot of boards where people who haven't had WLS are constantly talking about diet and exercise including a triathlon board where people do lose weight from the training. Personally, I believe that some insurances require a pre-op diet just to get people to change their minds about the surgery and save some money. They know that diets don't work and they know we have a history of dieting without success. There is no clinical data saying people who do these diets pre-op are more successful than those who don't. So there is no *medical* reason to insist on it. It's all part of their delay and deny game.
  5. I just try to improve on what I did the week before. When running, I want to run for a longer time (before I have to start walking) and/or faster. If I'm on the stationary bike, I want the resistance level and mileage to go up. Another thing to do is to sign up for a race. That gives you something to aim for. I'm doing a 5k in two weeks. My goal is to do it in under 40 minutes.
  6. I am doing my first 5K in two weeks. I will be SHOCKED if I can do it in under 36 min. I am thinking it will be more like 40 minutes. So I'm very impressed.
  7. Please, people, no name calling and personal insults. It's against the rules.
  8. Put less on your plate to start with. Put the absolute minimum you think you can eat and tell yourself that you can go get more if you want. Then, most times, you'll eat that and be satisfied.
  9. That's why it appealed to me too. It directly addressed my issue. So I had more confidence that it would work for me.
  10. Wasa didn't mention your doctor at all. She said that if you are getting a revision, you need a really experienced surgeon ... which is true. Revisions are harder than virgin surgeries and the chance of leaks is much greater.
  11. We did some interesting running drills today. Running up and down hills trying to practice a certain form that is good for triathlons.
  12. What's turbinado? I think at least some of the hunger is real too because one of our hunger mechanisms is when our stomach expands in response to being full and you don't get that on a liquid diet.
  13. Oh, I thought Dr. Ponce was in Mexico! I must have him mixed up with someone else.
  14. I did stationary bike today because we're going to run tomorrow instead of bike at my New to the Sport session. I need to figure out how to get some strength training and another swim into my week to make my fitness goals.
  15. My body was trashed from having kids and yo-yo dieting before I even started. But once I lost big weight really fast, I noticed shar pei thighs and arms. But they keep tightening up too. So they sag, then tighten, then sag, then tighten. I don't know yet how much everything will tighten up in the end. Sometimes I'm positive I won't need PS and sometimes I'm sure I'll need it.
  16. Watch it at home. You won't be sorry.
  17. Welcome to LapBandTalk! Are you going back to Dr. Ponce or staying in the States this time?
  18. It varies Marsha. I paid $17000 for my sleeve in Northern CA (an expensive part of the country). In Mexico, it typically costs around $10,000. There are surgeons in the US who do it cheaper, but I wasn't interested in them for various reasons. However, that's for a virgin sleeve. A revision is going to cost more.
  19. It's [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL4L4Uv5rf0]Guy Love![/ame]
  20. When you are on liquids, it's hard to stay full and a lot of people report being hungry. It may be the liquids or it may be excess ghrelin still making your way out of your system. But it's really common.
  21. Can you have yogurt on full liquids? I found SF popsicles to really hit the spot because CHEWING is involved! Also, sf Jello and for the same reason.
  22. If the sleeve is made small enough (around 40-60 cc) then it is extremely hard to stretch out. The stretchy part is gone, basically. The tissues do relax some (there is some scientific name for this, but I can't remember it). But some surgeons are still making them about 2x that size and those people do have more issues with weight regain, whether pregnancy enters the picture or not. So be sure to check on that.
  23. I missed my Pilates class so I decided to take a rest day. I think it will be good for my back.
  24. Ooh. Kathy's in the Century club! I broke down and ordered another Nike+ They said it shipped yesterday so I should be back in the game by next week at the latest.
  25. Nope, not any more.
