Thank you shortycool,Gratifying to know that a question asked so long ago could help someone later.
By the way, I ended up getting the sadi-s ds and am two weeks postop. Still early yet but so far very happy with my decision.

I am grateful as I am sure many many others are also. Hopefully I will be of help to others later as I get further and have more first hand knowledge.

Keep your head up and keep doing the right things for your body. I have found that sometimes it helps me to not weight daily. I'm working on learning that number does not define me as a person...I'm so much more.

Things like extended hospitalizations for strictures, severe ulcers, leaks, excessive nausea and vomiting.... basically anything that keeps the patient from eating.

For the most part, things get fixed, life goes on, and ultimately it was just a big bump in the road that resulted in quick losses. Sometimes we hear about the complications, and sometimes we just see the #s, but don't know the WHY.

I have noticed that lots of those people that lost significantly more than 10lbs a month also went through complications. BAD complications.

Slow and steady wins the race!

Stalling is normal in weightloss so is gaining before dropping. It is not indicative of where you end up. Don't restrict calories or you really will stall. Trust the procedure and the process and follow the plan and you will drop.
Here is my graph for some perspective. Notice how it does not look like a straight line? Lots of bump ups and plateues but it is clear what the overall trend is...

Thank you, but don't be deceived, there is excess skin! Mostly my upper arms, stomach, and upper thighs. It's not horrible and I probably wouldn't consider plastic surgery but I'll never be wearing a bikini. I was obese since age 5 so there's no coming back from 30 years of stretched skin. Im okay with all of this though. I consider it my battle scar, proof I won the fight!

Fancy that, it's written right in the terms of service that everyone agreed to but probably didn't read that accounts will not be deleted.

If you want to leave kindly leave and stop behaving like whiny children. For people who claim to be so selflessly willing to help, your whining betrays a lot.

@@john925 I couldn't have said it any better. I absolutely agree.
PS: If it's really true that users on here made plans on how to ridicule and bully other members then that's just sickening and the ban is well deserved. Don't these people have lives to live?

Sorry but everything Alex said is true! There have been a few posters on here that even though they may provide some good information their tone and demeanor on here is downright inexcusable... Acting like they are gods gift to Bariatric patients... As he states in the rules this is a safe place and no one should be talked down to for doing this and that. I am fortunate to have a medical background and know the rules and what could happen and all that jazz. But some of these posters even though their questions about doing/eating this and that may sound "dumb" the truth is they most likely really don't know better hence why they're asking for advice on a support page. (Health literacy... look it up). This then turns into a viscous cycle of others commenting and putting them on blast when really they don't know better and probably think they are making decent choices. These posters need help and education, not to be scrutinized by bully tactics. This is your own personal journey and what works for one person may not work for another and just because you deviate from one persons plan doesn't mean your a failure or going to fail. Pretty sure none of these people are credentialed to be giving out medical advise anyways. I have been personally very successful in my WLS journey and you better believe if I posted some of the things I have done I would've received backlash from posters on here...even though everything I've done is on MY plan. It just may not be on others, therefore with these posters mentality I would be wrong.. and fail... and everything else they like to say if you don't follow their rules. Anyways that is my little rant. Happy Saturday

I agree,..I'm 8 mo post op. I personally discovered my personal addiction to food when i started my pre liquid diet. I seriously didn't realize the magnitude of my addiction. I also didn't realize i was that huge!!! I recently held up my sz 28 shorts against my now sz 14 body and asked my husband.....why didn't u tell me i was this huge? He replied by saying. ..thats why i let u blow 18 thousand in 1 day. Lol.....

What other reason should there be than meeting an arbitrary requirement? Hell, if it's the difference between being at a BMI of 39.8 and being denied and a BMI of 40.1 and getting approved - I'd boost my weight for the important weigh in without even thinking about it!
When it comes to insurance companies and meeting their weight requirements I'd classify that "roll of quarters" as an act of pure self-defense.

I guess what I'm trying to understand is why there's so much anger and vitriol instead of compassion and more understanding. None of us get to a place where we need surgery because we've made good choices or had 100% transparency or honesty with ourselves or with others. Sometimes there are issues that run a lot deeper with some folks than others. You just never know a person's background or story.
I also know from my own past (I'm almost nine years out) and many of my friends in the WLS community we all had experiences where when we first had surgery and were doing remarkably well, we felt invincible and full of conviction and top of the world with our choices and actions. It's easy to get to a place of high-ground when you feel that way, which is why I think it's important to remember that it doesn't always stay that way. There are always going to be times when you question others actions, and that's normal and fine. But remember, there are probably others doing the same to you. Extend the same kindness you'd want for yourself.

Being judgemental with each other NEVER helps. Support is not judgemental. Support is support. You're there through the good times and the bad listening, lending an ear, giving the best advice you can through a supportive and encouraging lens that won't further damage someone(s) already struggling.

I started making changes to the way I ate 6 months before my surgery but I made small changes over time not in one big swoop. I also allowed myself designated cheat days so as not to be overwhelmed. I lost 65 lbs before my surgery.

Leebick, it's lack of magnesium. I had the exact issue. If you can tolerate it pop a 250mg magnesium every day. Felt relief after first day and problem gone by day three.
