  1. What is the deal with the pain in the shoulder? Does the doctors have a reason for this problem?
  2. You are so lucky to being able to get this done so soon. How long have you waited? What kind of pre op testing have you had done? I am in my second month with my six month diet for insurance purposes. They say that in my fifth month I will have ekg, echo, stress test, pulmonary functions testing, psych, and dietician. I will be checking for your reply. Cheryl
  3. I have bounced around with wanting to get the lap band for a year now. Everytime someone tells me something negative I forget about it for awhile. This is the first time I have went to the doctor and told him about it and trying to get through six months of recorded dieting for my insurance purposes. I have two doctors who have told me the lap band is not as good as gastric bypass. People don't do well with the lap band and then I get on this site and I see other views. I don't want to do the gastric because it is more dangerous and non reversible. So I have made my mind up I am with you guys and I will show them all. Cheryl
  4. misprague1017 Stop worrying about little things. I am sure your husband will be fine he needs to learn how to take care of himself and the house. This is the best thing for him. You need to focus on yourself. Be prepared for what lies ahead for you. If you are going to walk around and worry about everything then you will not be able to give this your all. Remember this is only a tool. Just go tomorrow morning optimistic trusting that God will be with you and everything will be good. Say a prayer and everything will be taken care of and you can start your journey to a wonderful life of being healthy and happy. Good Luck! Cheryl:smile:
  5. I am sorry to say that I spoke with Humana about three months ago and they told me that if I didn't have six consecutive months that I would have to start over. So regardless to who the fault is I don't think they care. They also told me that whenever I get my six months in that it would be good for three years. In case for some reason I changed my mind on the surgery. I also work for Kentucky State Board of Education. You need to call them yourself and verify this information and make sure they told me the same thing as you. They just keep changing the regulations on this surgery.
  6. People like you are so motivational for me. I have a doctor who is trying to discourage me from getting the band because he says it is not very successful. He wants me to have the gastric bypass. I believe if I go this far that I will be able to lose with the band. Thanks, Cheryl
  7. Do you still recommend the lap band? How much have you lost and how long has it taken to do so? Cheryl
  8. Do you work for the state? I also have Humana and am looking forward in getting the lapband at Central Baptist by the same doctor. I have to wait 6 months. Good Luck and please keep me posted. Cheryl
  9. Mattie, I believe once you start losing weight the pain will subside some. Anyway, you just have to push yourself. My mother has RA, polymyalgia rhuematica, temporal arteritis and fibromyalgia. She pushes herself everyday. She has a cane, crutch, walker, electric wheelchair and regular wheelchair. She has her ok days and her terrible days. Most the time she will not even use the cane. She amazes me no matter how much pain she is in she keeps going. Works until she can't anymore and just increases her pain meds. She doesn't have a weight problem thank God. I just want to learn from her and my Dad. My Dad just had 5 stents in his heart two months ago and he is already in the garden picking up rocks and trying to get ready to plant his garden. If only I had that motivation. That probably is why I am 120 pounds overweight now. I really want this band so I can began to live again. I am in pain now and can barely walk sometimes. My hips are so sore it is pitiful. I still hold down a full-time job but it affects every part of my life. I have no energy because I have severe obstructive sleep apnea and always sleepy and this stops your metabolism. So good luck and just pray about it and move on don't let anything stop you from helping yourself. You know anything will be better than what you are doing now. Cheryl
  10. Hope this isn't being too nosey but I was just wondering who Ambyr is? Hope I didn't hurt your feelings by asking. Tell me how you have been and a little about your story. Thanks! Cheryl
  11. I live in the eastern part of Kentucky. Lexington, Kentucky is 3 hours away and that is where I will have my lap band surgery.

That is the reason why I am researching the lap band procedure. I am so tired of being sleepy all the time. I feel like I never am rested. I fight with that mask all night long. I can tell when I have taken it off the night before. I can't get a good breath. I am on the highest pressure. I hope someone on here will give us all good news. Cheryl
  13. I sure hope this isn't lapband related because I just got over a surgery for this one and am just starting to check into the lapband surgery. I started having swelling under my ears and looked like I had the mumps after eating or while eating. Come to find out a couple of years later I had a mass in my parotid gland and I also have sjogrens disease an immune disease of the glands. Anyway try drinking more Water see if it subsides if it doesn't you need to get to an ENT. Thank God it was benign but it needs to be checked out. Cheryl
  14. Do you have Humana for your insurance? I am in the going to another seminar next week. I have been told that my insurance has you wait 6 months while being monitored by a doctor on weight loss and seeing a dietician. Is this true? I also have severe sleep apnea. I have used a machine for years but I am not happy with the situation. I always take it off through the night. The next day I can't get my breath very easy and I fall asleep all day no matter where I am. It is so frustrating. I just want to be normal and to be able to go to bed like everyone else and not be afraid to go to sleep. I am scared about the lapband but I am at my wits end. I can't lose weight. Thanks, Cheryl
