I cannot believe it is finally here! My six month notes was sent into insurance yesterday evening and today and they have already approved me. I expected it to be next week for some news. I am now having so many feelings. Excitement and Confusion. :smile::confused: My mother is all for this but my family is not. They just keep asking me if I won't just diet and exercise with them because they are afraid of the surgery. I have to do this I have put seven months into getting ready for this and now it is here. I pray that God will keep me focused on what I have to do. Good luck to all of you on your approvals. I will probably find out in the morning when they will set me up for the surgeon appointment and I guess it won't be long after that. Cheryl:thumbup:

I got my cardiac testing results back today and thanks to God they were normal. Tomorrow morning my medical doctor will be faxing the support letter and the last month notes to my six month supervision diet. They will then send this into my insurance company. She said it usually takes 3 to 5 days for an answer. Next will be a surgeon appt and set a date. It is getting close. I am having happy and sad feelings. When is your surgery scheduled? Mine will be in October if I passed my cardiac testing. I should find out today. I was trying to start my diet early so when I do see the surgeon he may do mine earlier. What exactly are you eating on your diet? Cheryl

So have you been banded again or how are you losing weight? Where did you have this blotched up surgery? Do you feel like the realize band is better than the allergen lapband? Cheryl

I know it is easy for me to say but whatever you do whatever it takes just keep the weight off that you successfully have off already. Don't fall back into your eating habits you had before. And continue to look into other ways to help you. I am so sorry this happened to you just pray about and I am sure something good will come your way. Cheryl

Isn't that the truth. I was given a book and I am like you all I want is a simple plan with the foods I can eat and not eat or a meal plan for everyday. I also need to know if we are suppose to start drinking Protein drinks at this point and what is the best one because I don't want to waste alot of money trying them all. When is your tentative surgery date? Mine will be in October sometime if I pass my cardiac testing I had yesterday. Pray I will. Cheryl

What book are you talking about? Does your surgeon recommend a certain protein drink? When will you be having your surgery? I had my cardiac testing today and will get the results Monday. Then all I have to do is fax all the information to them to be sent to Humana. Once they approve (pray) I will see the surgeon and they told me to go ahead and start the pre-surgery diet because I would probably be having surgery anywhere between the second and last week of October. So I need some hints before I get to the surgeon of what to eat for the diet? I know I am suppose to be on a high protein diet. Please send helpful hints. Cheryl

I just had my cardio lyte test today and echo and hoping to have surgery in October. I want some info on pre surgery diet so I can be ready. Cheryl

My birthday is October 15th. I have my cardiac testing in the morning at 9:00. I need prayers that I will pass this test. Heart disease runs in my family. I have been taking cholestrol medicine for about 15 years. After they fax everything next week I will see the surgeon in another week and they are looking for surgery to be anywhere between my birthday and the 28th. Now I am getting a little scared. But also excited. What kind of pre surgery diet are y ou going on to shrink the liver? Cheryl

I can't wait until October. I need some help before surgery. Can someone give me some kind of ideas of Breakfast, lunch, dinner etc for shrink the liver dieting. I want to make sure I do everything right because once they get in there I sure don't want to have to do it again. What Protein drinks are the best? Are we suppose to start drinking those before surgery or afterwards? Cheryl

I also have Humana and it pays in Kentucky. Does each state have different plans?

I need someone to give me some information about after surgery. How long does it take for someone to be able to lift 80 lbs after surgery. I would have to know for job purposes. Cheryl

I am hoping my lap band surgery will be in October. I only have my cardiac testing and pre surgery appt left after this Wednesday. The insurance cordinator is thinking it will be in October. I am so confused with all of the negative stuff on here. It is like I am taking a gamble that it will work for me. Cheryl

I am getting so excited and a little bit scared. I have been reading and talking to all of you for the last seven months. I am now at my last doctors appointment in which I only lost 5 lbs. I will be having my cardiac testing next Friday and then my surgeon appointment where they will schedule my surgery if my insurance approves. Pray they will. My birthday is October 15th and I will be 56 years old. They are telling me that it could be the first or second week of October. What a wonderful Birthday present that would be. I have Humana and it does cover weight loss surgery. Do you have a different kind? I work for the board of education. I will be seeing the PA next Thursday and having all the basic testing done. From there I will be scheduling a cardiac and pulmonary test. I see my Primary doctor for my sixth supervised diet visit on September 17th and from there I see the surgeon turn in all paperwork and schedule surgery. Getting kind of scared now but excited. I am right behind you. Probably will get a surgery date sometime in October. I will be starting my all day testing next Thursday. Then they will set me up for the heart and pulmonary test. Did you go on the pre op diet to shrink your liver before the last surgery? If so why do you have to do it again? Cheryl

I have my first appointment for the all day testing on September 4th. Then they wil set me up for cardio testing/pulmonary function test. My 6th month diet dr's appointment is September 17th. I will be scheduled to see the surgeon after that so I figure they will set me up in October sometime. My birthday is October 15th. I will be 56 years old. I pray this will be a new beginning for me to finally be healthy and to be able to enjoy everyday. My sleep apnea has really brought my health down. Cheryl

Once I have my surgery I would love for you to be my mentor. I have 120 lbs to lose and it seems so far away. You have done so good I am really impressed. Where are you planning on moving to? Have you located a good doctor here for your fills yet? I am almost finished with my 6 month supervision dieting in which I haven't done very well and I hope the insurance company doesn't bump me because of that after all that is why I am looking for having the lapband. Dah! Do you think I should already start the diet to shrink my liver? After the 20th I am to call the bariatrics office and they will set me up for my all day appointments to see the nutritionist, psych, labs etc. I also will have to see a pulmonologist because I have severe sleep apnea and cardiac testing. After the sixth month which will be sometime in September they will send everything off to the insurance company. I have Humana I sure hope it doesn't take them long to get an answer for me so I can get this surgery done and move on with my life. If you have any helpful hints for me please pass them this way. I am a 55 year old with high cholestrol, high blood pressure, severe sleep apnea, sjogrens disease, low Iron, low B12, low Vitamin D. My health is getting worse every year and I want to be healthy again before I get too much older. I also have 3 adult children who really do not want me to have this surgery and this puts alot of stress on me. Why did you decide to go to Louisville? Are you not pleased with the hospital in Lexington? That is where I am planning on having my surgery. Please let me know if you know something I don't. Cheryl

If you are brave enough to have the surgery why would you be afraid to have the endoscopy? You really need to have this checked out to prevent problems down the road. Don't you want to get back on the road to losing? Please see you doctor and find out what the problem is. Cheryl

I am in my fifth month of supervised dieting. I have Humana Insurance. Can any of you tell me if there is a set criteria that they are looking for when they are deciding whether to approve or not. I want to make sure my doctor does not leave anything out that they may jump on for denial. When I see him we talk about calorie counting and exercise and whether or not I have lost any weight. Does he need to write a letter? At any rate, after the 20th I am suppose to call the bariatrics office to set up my all day appointment I guess to see the nutritionist, pych, labs etc. I really don't know what all they do. I know I will have to have pulmonary testing and cardiac testing. Please enlighten me to any other information that may help me. I am going to have surgery at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY by Dr. Weiss and Dr. Oldham. :thumbup: Cheryl
