  5. That is AMAZING! AND ENCOURAGING! I love your NSV's...keep up the amazing work, it's definatly an encouragement.
  6. Well it has come down to it. I have the money, had the lab work and EKG...all I need to do is schedule the appointment. I'm nervous though because it is SO MUCH MONEY, and I am intentionally changing my body what if I do it and feel horrible and regret it (even though inside I know that I won't). Initial worry is setting in. Please tell me all the great things about your lapband.
  7. I hate to say it, but because I am embarassed. For some reason I DESPERATLY need everyones approval and I know that most of my coworkers and friends would not approve. So i want to keep it a secret...:*(
  8. Hey, I work at a very friendly place. Everyone is great and cares for one another, very close. Well I know that once I start going on my liquid diet and when i want to take off of work I will have many questions. (For one because we were all doing Weight Watchers together and suddenly i'm going straight liquids) and I NEVER take off of work (I teach elementary school). So what do I tell them? Like specifics. Just saying "something medical" won't work, and I feel as if they will wonder what is going on if i don't open up like I usually do. Help! Oh yeah, went for my EKG today and am planning on surgery (my first one ever) the monday before thanksgiving.
  9. That is awesome! I'm excited for you!
  10. It's so nice to know i'm not alone. I've been thinking about it ALOT. Now i'm pretty much set on having my surgery at the end of November. I think i'm taking off work to get my EKG and lab work done Friday. I'll miss Thanksgiving but that's still better than missing Christmas festivities in case I don't feel well.
  11. :*( Thanks for the help! Now for my next question, how on EARTH did you make it 7 days without eating anything of substance? ACK!
  12. I teach 1st grade...so i'm up and about 90% of the day. Thanks for the info.
  13. From the date of your surgery to when you went back to work how much time passed? I'm trying to figure out when to schedule my surgery and how much time to take off of work. ~Jini
  14. Pre-op liquid ONLY DIET....other than drinks what of substance can I eat? Post op MUSHY diet...idea's please THANKS GUYS!
  15. and a bit nervous. I need to go get lab work and an EKG. This is all out of pocket and i'm worried that i'll regret spending hte money (like somehow this won't work for me). Question: How long until you felt like you were ready to go back to work after the lapband?
  16. YAY! I GOT APPROVED! I'm scared now, and excited at the same time. Now i need to get lab work and a EKG...AAAHHHH ~jINI Soon to be a member of the lapband family
  17. *sigh* I'm afraid i'm getting my hopes up for nothing. I am fairly sure that my BMI is under 40 and i know that that is one of the critera for being approved...
  18. Thanks, it does work and i'll spend some time reading through it. Sounds like it will be helpful.
  19. Another one...how do you avoid telling people about the surgery when they see you eating only liquids, or mushy or whatever?
  20. Question: Why can't you drink water with meals? Why can you not snack throughout the day? I thought that it was better to eat more small meals.
  21. Yes! This is good information and good to know. Thank you!
  22. I'm scheduled for a consultation next week but had a few questions. 1. Does the lapband slow down your metabolism. I've read that it holds food for longer... 2. What can I expect to be able to eat after the surgery? Will I forever be eating Soup and what not or will I be able to eat normally again? 3. What is the best thing about the Lap Band? 4. What is the worst? 5. What do you wish you would have known before getting into this? Anything else you might have to say would be very helpful...Thanks Jini
