Back on October 22, 2015 was my initial consultation and when I decided to start my journey toward weight loss surgery. A little over four months, several classes, tests, and appointments later and I'm waiting for the call from my surgeon with my surgery date and the beginning of my two week liquid diet. I'm very very excited about the life to come, but I'm also very nervous about the life changes and the unknowns that are still yet to be discovered. At this point I just hope that my surgery date isn't too far off. I know I've waited this long, and had a wonderful life ... I'm ready to begin the next chapter on a healthier path.

Maybe it's time to do a "pros/cons" list. I bet you that when you get done the pros will FAR outnumber the cons. Do it and let me know how it comes out.
You've done the hard decision making. Now it's time to leave the details up to the professional that YOU chose to do what they have be trained and educated to do for you.
The waiting is one of the worst parts. There's nothing more that you can do--except wait. Keep busy. Be sure you have everything ready for your first day home. Have your house clean, have your liquids on hand and handy. Have the care of your pets taken care of for just a couple of days. Have reading material on hand. Try to find someone to walk with you . Not only is walking more pleasant with company, but sometimes after surgery some folks are a bit unsteady.
You got this! You know it. I know it.
Keep posting and venting. That helps some pre-operative nerves.
Take a deep breath and carry on with the carrying on!

Did anyone else have hiatal hernia repair as well? I am 1 week out. Was sipping broth and got air or liquid trapped in esophagus. Felt a spasm and my chest tighten. Could not burp. Intense pain and burning. Has anyone else experienced this?

Chew longer, eat slower. I have a stricture and food gets stuck for me all the time. When I first had surgery, one of my pills for nauseousness got stuck for three days. Sipping warm liquids finally got it down. I wouldn't drink fruit juice as that is liquid sugar and pineapple juice is so acidic it might aggravate an already irritated area.

I get a hiccup. Sometimes I'll get a little hiccup then a little burp. If I eat beyond this my nose starts to run. Weird, I know.

I'm in he same boat. Every protien I could stomach pre op now makes me at least dry heave. My saving grace is fat free milk at this point. I keep trying everyday hoping it will be better all of a sudden. Other than that I am feeling pretty good. Usually get tired early evening so not having any late nights but so far so good. Ready for the 10th and those soft foods!

I've been married to my hubs 28 years, and it's been 9 months since my sleeve surgery. We're doing great (now). He has been doing lots more things like complimenting me, and working on improving himself lately. For a few long months he was depressed, and practically ate himself into oblivion, but once he realized he wasn't hurting anyone but himself, he started working out and properly portioning his food. Now he has become more attentive (which he wasn't for a time after my surgery... think he may have been a tad jealous) If your problem is anything like mine, I hope you two can work it out, if that is the path you are also hoping for. I never expected him to eat like me, or want to exercise like me. One thing I have learned in my long life is that you can't MAKE someone do something to help themselves. They have to WANT to do it. Best of luck to you both.

I was truly feeling so alone after having the Sleeve done. ( I didn't want to bother friends / family that had it done with stupid questions.) I thought know one would understand what I was going though. Even understand how I felt or the questions I had! These forms have been a lifesaver for me!!! ❤️
