I've had decent experiences here and have received great advice. There are definitely some tools around and some hyper sensitive folks that get upset if you don't use emojis and hugs and say everything in the most delicate way. I have no patience with either lol

You know, you might be on to something with the age thing. I'm post menopausal and have had no mood swings. I had a couple days early on where I wanted to eat and couldn't and felt moody but no real swings or regrets. Being old finally pays off! Lol

LOL, I know the feeling of having to explain that I was being sarcastic--seems weird to many and completely normal to me.

I had been told by my surgeon and my dietician that surgery was going to be the easy part of this journey. I did not believe them.
I had seen people say that on this forum and I did not believe them.
I was so scared about my surgery, I couldn't see how that would be the easy part.
Here I am six days post op and I realize that surgery really was the EASY part.
I am back to work and stressed out and all I want to do is eat something and I cannot.
These next few weeks are going to be tough.
Having said that, I do not have any buyers remorse.
Anyone that is getting close to their surgery date, be prepared as surgery is going to be the easy part.

I'm probably not going to buy tailored clothes since I'm retired and have a little farm. I will be weighing religiously though because it's way too easy to "grow" and not notice in sweats etc...I'm early in the process as well and can't wait to get new clothes as well (and I need to simmer down with my buying because I'm not done losing by a long shot).

I suppose different surgeons have different expectations...the staff at the bariatric surgery practice was pleased when I had lost 55 pounds at my 6-month follow-up appointment.
You lost 52 pounds in 6 months...at that rate, that's 104 pounds yearly. Your weight loss is to be commended, so keep up the good work and keep working at it.
    Good luck to you.

Thanks! I was pretty deflated but you know what? I feel great and have no intentions of not continuing on to goal. Even if it's at a pokey pace. [emoji3]

Same here. I've lost 45 lbs since May 8 and I was told I wasn't doing well by the NP at the surgeons office. Bummed me out because I assumed with no thyroid and post menopause it wasn't bad.

If you're weighing you should be fine. I was doing none of that. Not weighing, not examining my outfits in the mirror before work like I used to, and bumming around in loose clothes. I was just burying my head really.

I feel the same way. I am so uncomfortable in tighter clothes.

I tried on a pair of jeans that fit for five minutes five years ago. Haven't tried them on in forever and they fit. I'm ok if something doesn't fit because I know it will eventually!

There are a lot of factors to take into effect when determining how much you shouldve lost. I was sleeved March 31st and as of today am at 40 lb lost since being sleeved. Every time I go to the doctor they tell me I'm doing great and to keep it up. They are the ones who tell me not to compare to anyone else. Your journey is your own and you control the outcome. Have I taken a nibble of my kids pizza or burger when I shouldnt have, yes, do I drink enough Water, no. I do get my Protein in though, take my Vitamins and get about 15k steps daily. Could I push myself in exercise and lose a bit faster, probably, but I was 251 last year, am down to 190.4 today and went from a size 46 mens to a 14 woman's (I fit in my daughters jeans) and am off all medications!
Keep doing what you know you are supposed to do, and dont give up, or let anyone's words get you down or make you lose focus!

That is because of your liver dumping sugar. It will dump more sugar then you would have eaten sometimes. So it is better to eat then let it dump.

your pain receptors are blocked by Suboxone so you have to be in active withdrawal in order for the medication in the hospital to work. Then you have to be back in active withdraw to resume Suboxone. Suboxone has saved my life and I am a big supporter of it. You will be okay just get off the pain meds post off as soon as you are able. My addict brain wanted to ask for more pain med's post but my body didn't need them then I was back on Suboxone. All good.

They told me to discontinue prior to surgery because I would need the pain meds to work. In my experience they don't/won't work any way.
