I'm pre op too. For me the only way to break the sugar addiction is to abstain. I have so little control with chocolate and sweets once I start eating them. I've also read that most of this stuff goes down easy after healing so it will be a life long commitment to abstain.

super loose pants and shoes you can put on without having to bend over. Skip the bra
i had outpatient gallbladder surgery and that's all I needed. Oh and a little pillow for your tummy on the ride home.

Joann454 reacted to Introversion in Metabolism levels a year or two after surgery?
About a month after reaching my goal weight, I had my RMR tested and it was 1430. With daily exercise (running, hiking, stair mill machines), I have been able to consume in the 1900 to 2100 calorie-per-day range while maintaining tight control over my current body weight of 118 pounds.

There are some threads here you can search for where we had some long convos about this. Specifically about that biggest loser study.
I am almost 2 years out and my metabolism is normal to high.
You aren't supposed to stay on ultra low calories forever. The sooner you get your calories up, the better. Over 1000 a day ASAP..
I don't know how many calories @BigViffer eats but he is a guy that works out a lot and I think he eats around 2000 calories a day if I recall correctly. A lot of us eat normal levels of calories and are able to lose or maintain. The people that hang out at 800 calories forever even though they are stalled are the ones that ruin their metabolism.

Thanks for responding. Yes I think you're right- I'm hoping the first 6-12 months post surgery where we shouldn't have too many cravings will give me the room i need to form new habits. Good luck!!

The cravings will be blunted and almost nonexistent during the honeymoon period of 6 to 12 months post-op. However, in most people the cravings return. This is especially true for many people who compulsively ate sweets and sugar. There are two types of weight loss surgery patients: moderators and abstainers.
Moderators can moderate their intake of trigger foods and stop before falling off the wagon, whereas abstainers must abstain from their trigger foods because they will definitely fall off the wagon. If you cannot moderate your intake of sweets, you need to abstain or else you will regain your weight.

Surgeons aren't really known for their bedside manner. Mine is quiet and not overly friendly. Honestly, as long as he's good while he's operating I'll be alright with it. Unless he's like Blizair's doctor. That would infuriate me. So unprofessional!

To the OP what happened at your three month appt?

I think every one of your complaints are valid. She's so disinterested. At least you have us! We will listen ❤ of course I don't know anything medically 😂 That's interesting about the hostile WW folks. If I ever go I'll keep it to myself for sure.
when i I had my thyroid out the OR techs had a big argument right before I went under. I made sure to let the hospital know after I recovered. It was awful! I'm really sorry she's so unsupportive

    Joann454 reacted to 10stackzz in Pre-Op diet...how much did u
I'm 11 days into my pre op diet. We have the same meal plan. I've been drinking "premier" Protein Shakes four times a day and eating my lean Protein dinner.

I want you to know....the shakes work and if you follow that plan to a tee. You will lose 10-15 pounds before surgery. The pounds fell off of me...so good that it ALMOST seems logical to just follow this diet rather than having surgery. Ummmm, NOT!!There is no way I'm turning back now. I did my final blood draw...and got my surgery I.D. band today....Its really about to happen....loooong process from start to finish...Follow that plan...you will be good!

The soup is my favorite too. I use a thermometer and heat my Water to 140 and it comes out just right. Any hotter it will change the texture and be clumpy.

I like the strawberry sorbet, but only if I mix it with lemonade. I didn't care for the vanilla. Both chocolates are good. They also have recipes on their website.

I wasn't a fan of their sweet flavors. I did like the Soup (if I could get it to come out without lumps, which was a crap shoot), and the unflavored one can come in handy.

I love love love this brand! chocolate is my favorite although I like strawberry and vanilla. Plain I would get if mixing in other foods. It can be sweet (strawberry) if you don't add enough liquid or too much powder. I also love that it has no after taste and I use my hand shaker and it mixes well vs. me carrying my single blender with me to work.

I had to drink some special tart liquid, and 15 minutes later blow into bag. It was no biggie but I had the test a month ago so that if they started me on antibiotics it wouldn't have interfered with surgery timing. I was negative tho. Seems odd that they'd do it so close to surgery. Hopefully you're negative and don't have to worry!

I'm in the same boat ladies I called my insurance company and they haven't received anything from my doctor yet so hopefully Monday when the POC that is due to submit it will be back and hopefully time will whine down I talk to my insurance company and they said that once they receive it they have 3 to 5 business days. To process it so I'm just as excited myself I've carried this weight for the past 19 years and I am being as patient as I possibly can with GOD's help.
