IrishGermanRN got a reaction from JustWatchMe in You're Cheating
And it's articles like People mag January half their size issues while it's fantastic they did lose all the weight. People mag said they did it without "short cuts" this tells the general population that reads their mag and conditions them that anything other than the way they lost weight, is a short cut.

IrishGermanRN reacted to Xena7158 in Does anyone feel angrier or more 'indignant' post surgery?
Well, i`m not sure if this is the same thing or not ... but the last time I was on a weight loss journey (and ended up losing over 100 lbs), I remember feeling like that. But I know what it was from ... I started to see people (friends and relationships) for what they were, and it made me more cynical and angry.
Men I had been friends with or known for years, now that I was thinner, were suddenly interested in more ... this annoyed me.
Women I was friends with, trying to sabotage my weight loss successes - here, I made you some Cookies, you`re too thin, you should stop losing weight, oh you`re unhealthy, etc (when I still had 50 lbs to go ...) - this annoyed me.
Then I noticed how much nicer people were, or how much more attentive people were to my new thinner self - this annoyed me.
Basically, I attributed it to no longer being blind to the reality that "looks do matter" to some people - and it forced me to re-evaluate all my relationships and my own vanity issues.
It doesn't help that while we lose, there's raging hormones being let loose, and head hunger, and other addictions vying for our attention in our brains!

Do you have a good nutritionist and therapist to talk to? They can help you find solutions you may not have considered. They can also help you visualize being successful long term. That might be key for you.
I have the same worries about maintenance. I've never maintained a weight loss for longer than five minutes. When I was researching bariatric surgery, the first thing I did was look up the five year outcomes of surgery vs diet and exercise alone. I was amazed at the long-term success of bariatric patients, especially considering that this is a group not known for handling food well. You are far more likely to be successful than unsuccessful. (The reverse is true for diet and exercise, according to medical research.) So this experience is not like what you've experienced in the past, and you should have every expectation of long-term success.

IrishGermanRN reacted to Djmohr in I said "No Way"!
Ok so today I went shopping because my size 12 jeans were getting fairly loose. I went to my favorite place to buy jeans since having WLS. Lucky Brand Jeans.
I grab a pair of sweet and straight jeans in a size 10 and I am grinning from ear to ear because I am confident they are going to fit and I love that feeling. I have not fit into jeans this small since I was a teenager.
I put them on and I am right! They fit fantastic! I come out of the dressing room and model for hubby who promptly says, those look a little big. Maybe you should think about a smaller size.
I the immediately say "no way!" An 8 is not going to fit me. I am honestly not sure if I have ever worn a size that small. I decide to encourage him and prove there is no way I will get them up.
I grab an 8 and head back into the dressing room. I look at this tiny pair of jeans and go, here goes nothing. They fit perfectly! I could hardly believe my eyes.
Then the sales clerk tells me that they are buy one get one half off but she says the darker dyes seem to be more forgiving so she gives me an 8 and a 6 to try on. I laughed but thought well just see how far off you are.
Well, I put the 6 on, buttoned them up and stood there in shock. Now, I didn't buy the 6 because although I could wear them, I do like my jeans to be comfortable and have a little room.
So when I started this journey I wore 24 jeans and 26/28 tops. I am now in a size 8 and a medium or large top. Sometimes I have to get the large because I have a lot of loose skin.
I cannot believe where I am today! For me, clothes shopping is when I can really see the thinner me.

Hi, I had the sleeve on 1/29 in Denver. I'm on day 3 and I've been pretty miserable. The gas pain is awful and I keep getting hiccup like spasms that make me vomit.
Anyone have this happen?

MFP daily. My daughter uses it as well to check her macros through the day. Proteins, carbs, fats instead of relying on cals. This is something I'm starting to do as well

I've been having no issues as well. I do know the sip sip walk walk has been beneficial. looking forward to full liquids tomorrow and going home. Meds were rough but tolerated to promote getting better.
Hang in there.

IrishGermanRN reacted to titan05 in Gastric Sleeve - Just do it!
This is the absolute best thing I have ever done for my health . I had surgery June 23rd at 264 pounds and I now weigh 196 pounds. I have went from 2x shirts to Large , from 40-42 pants to 34's . Surgery went easy - only complication I had was I developed an incisional hernia and had it fixed January 7th. I feel normal I just cannot eat very much . I had failed with my lap band no way I will ever weigh that again.

To make the roasted cauliflower all you need to do is to get one plastic food bag and put the following into it.
2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast
1 teaspoon garlic granules
1 teaspoon mixed herbs
1 teaspoon hot paprika or cayenne pepper
Salt and ground black pepper
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (or whatever other oil you like)
shake in the bag until well mixed.
Break a whole cauliflower into florets and chuck it into the bag with the oil and herb mixture. shake it until the cauliflower is well covered then tip the lot onto a non-stick baking tray. Put it into the oven (450f) and cook until slightly crispy on the outside and just al denote when you poke it with a knife.
Quantities are approximate as I rarely measure anything and just tweak things till they taste right.
Enjoy x

I was told anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks. Giving time for incisions to heal properly. I also had the surgical glue on my wounds instead of staples to reduce scaring. So for the few weeks I had to take showers and put tape and plastic over the wounds to not get them wet.

IrishGermanRN reacted to PayItForward in Baths & Jacuzzis
8 weeks post-op before swimming or hot tub.
-
IrishGermanRN reacted to jhclikesshopping@gmail.com in Baths & Jacuzzis
Bath is once all the wounds have healed. Jacuzzi I wanted a while - maybe 3 months since the chemicals aer strong and might still get into the wounds. Just to be safe...
-
IrishGermanRN reacted to WorkinOnMe in Baths & Jacuzzis
3-4 weeks (after incisions fully healed) for baths and swimming. 6 weeks for hot tubs & jucuzzis due to high heat could make you woozy while you adjust to your new weight/body.
