amazing! I'm having a mommy makeover This Saturday. My surgeon says I can do lipo with fat transfer to buttocks. I was hesitant due to the recovery. I'm also getting a tummy tuck and breast lift with augmentation. Ive heard we are not to sit? but how so? Would love to know how you recovered. Looks amazing!!
  3. Seems that there are many threads about January sleevers, but now we have a place to call home. My surgery is January 20th. I'm having my band removed and sleeve at the same time. Currently talking my way through day 2 of this preop all liquid diet... help!

What was the longest stall you had?

I'm 8 months out and just got through a 2 month stall.. All of a sudden dropped 3 pounds. Hoping it keeps going!! The weight loss..not the stall

    Who to tell

I was selfish and scared because I didn't want to be judged as a cheater. Then I said screw it.. I know who I am and it's gonna get out sooner or later. So anyone who asks... I tell them

How old is too old to be sleeved?

My mom is 73 and has a 2nd meeting with the surgeon in July. She has a band that was placed in 2006 which has failed. If she can get the weight off and have 10 years quality of life it is well worth it. She has bad knees from the weight but otherwise is in good health.
  11. That's too bad you're looking at the insurance company as the enemy rather than the RN as a helpful benefit.
  12. Same here. I lost about 30 pounds total with a lot of difficulty. My band then did slip. had an unfil and never the same since. Looking forward to the removal and getting the sleeve in 3 weeks. Fantastic. I'm the lowest I've been in years. Best thing was go to the VSG
  13. The nurse case manager's job is two-fold, to advocate for the patient, and to coordinate your care. I was self-pay and had no case manager, but if I had one, she would have saved me all the headaches (and bodyaches) I went through trying to coordinate faxes between my doctors' offices and my work's short term disability program; this was not pleasant to do while I was still recovering post-op. Luckily the hospital where I had my procedure at has a Bariatric Coordinator that served as my advocate. I got regular phone calls checking up on how I was recovering and she offered to personally call my surgeon on his cell if I needed any antibiotics or additional pain medication. Another way to look at a nurse case manager is this, it's their job to be your coach, to monitor that you stay on track and continue to benefit (healthwise) from your surgery. The insurance company is investing money into you. A healthier you = less obesity-related medical costs down the road for them. If you end up not being compliant with the necessary WLS lifestyle changes, then the insurance company is at a financial lost from the cost of your procedure and then has more obesity-related expenses as you stay overweight. Definitely take advantage of having a nurse case manager if it's offered! Well said
  14. Absolutely wrong and false. We are RNs first regardless of how you feel about insurance company's. These programs are offered to keep people out of the ER and Hospital. Feel how you do with Insurance but I took my RN oath to help people.
  15. I would do it... I actually work for UHC and an RN for one of the programs. Don't be afraid of the 45 minute call. Mine usually last 10-15 min and we are great with follow up and working with Mds. Remember we are RNs. Always helpful in any case.

    Liquid protein

What is it called. So I can get some Sent from my SPH-L720T using the BariatricPal App

    Liquid protein

Many of the dialysis units I work with use it for their patients. 15Gm protein per ounce. Low sugar. Pricey but it's medical grade and has many benefits. I personally have not used it but can see if you can't get any of the other options down it would be a good choice.

  19. Amazing!! I work from home and also travel quite a bit. I've turned my desk I to a treadmill desk and when I'm away from home I track every bite and wear an activity tracker. Seems to help. Congrats on not just the pounds lost but realizing it and doing something about it!! You've helped many by telling us your story. Thank you and I will remember when the same happens to me. Chin up and keep working at it . Thanks

    No One In The Sixties?

My mom has been approved for a band to sleeve revision. She got the band 9 years ago and is 74. she wants quality of life as her knees are terrible carrying 220+ pounds. Bariatric surgeon here at Loma Linda U said she is a great candidate
  21. I'd look into self pay in Mexico at this point. Would be frustrating to wait on insurance and who knows if their guidelines will change again. Glad he has your support
  22. Same.. I'm 4 months out and pushing 1100-1300 cals
