Man, that dude is sad. He really doesn't have your back. How can someone who loves you actually talk like that? Easy way out....You know what is the easy way out?
Having a friggin metabolism that allows you to stay thin while eating burgers, fries, pizza, candy, etc.
Never having to look at the scale and decide, I'm only going to have Water instead of the friggin beer that everyone else will be drinking at the party.
As a matter of fact, the easy way out would be to say, "f** it! I don't care about my health. I don't care about my looks. I am just going to eat what I want, and drink what I want, and everyone can just Kiss My a**!"
Tell him that the next time he wants to be intimate, you already took the easy way out, and took care of yourself. Then tell him to do the same.
I'm a guy, and probably breaking man code, but damn!

Had my 1 year post op appointment today and my team was really happy and impressed with how far I've come. The coordinator wants to set me up with an interviewer to talk about my experience with the process. My nutritionist wants me to come to the next support group meeting. She said most of the people there are either pre op or a couple months post op, and would like me to give my perspective and what ive been doing for the past Year. Its kind of exciting and really put things into perspective for me. I thought i was failing but I'm actually doing pretty good lol. I know its long. Just wanted to share my good news[emoji4]

What are the foods and beverages you depend on to make sure you're staying on plan, getting your fluids, getting your Proteins, keeping your calories down, etc>?
    Two things I depend on:
Protein20 waters: these are flavored, 60-70 calorie waters/drinks that each contain 15 grams of Protein, Adding one to two of these a day has made it much easier for me to get my recommended daily protein in. Basically they take a lot like Propel waters, though you can pick up on the presence of something extra. Not all of the flavors are awesome, but I do really like the coconut Water one. I'm okay with the mixed berry and lemonade, too. The grape didn't agree with me and the wild cherry tastes good but has 4 carbs, which is more than I want to use on a beverage.
Starkist tuna Creations - these are those little pouches of tuna salad with seasoning. They're 70-100 calories, less than 1 gram of carbs, and have 15-18 grams of protein each. They're a good way to get some protein into your day without using anything beyond the minimum for carbs and calories. It saves me some wiggle room to eat something a bit more substantial for another meal that day.

I am using Baritastic and really like it -- tracking food, Vitamins, Water, and exercise. Thinking about using it to track medications as well. I was wondering how it compared to My Fitness Pal since I know many people use that.

lindabalseca reacted to BigViffer in DUMPING IS REAL!!
It is most common to RNY, but it most definitely is not regulated to RNY patients only. Even people who have not had any gastric surgery can have the symptoms of dumping syndrome. The only thing that qualifies it explicitly as dumping however is someone who has had a procedure involving the stomach. Anyone who has an adverse reaction to simple carbs/sugar and/or fats can experience all the misery of "dumping" of these things into the blood stream.
A diabetic who eats anything that spikes their glucose levels and starts sweating or racing heart, that is a form of dumping. As for being useful as a training tool, oh yes... it'll put the fear of god in you if you experience it just once.

I'm really getting frustrated reading all these comments from these "expert" sleeve patients saying dumping syndrome doesn't happen unless you have a bypass. Don't assume that because it doesn't happen to EVERYONE, that it doesn't happen at all. It's VERY real, and happens to quite a few. I am one of them. It happened to me first in my puree stage, my Dr advised mashed potatoes and gravy.. I had about three teaspoons and the wave hit me. I had no idea what happened or why I was sick, or even ever heard of dumping. It happened again once with potato Soup, and once with fat free frozen yogurt. Please stop assuming that it only happens to bypass patients. It's insulting to those of us who do experience it to be told it doesn't exist.
    Per the mayo Clinic:
"Dumping syndrome is a condition that can develop after surgery to remove all or part of your stomach or after surgery to bypass your stomach to help you lose weight. Also called rapid gastric emptying, dumping syndrome occurs when food, especially sugar, moves from your stomach into your small bowel too quickly."

Sleeved August 16. Down about 36 pounds.
I stalled for almost four weeks. I wanted to cry and I was really pissed. But it finally broke.
Sooooo, is anyone else going through this? It seems like every third day I am exhausted-like don't want to get out of bed can't move exhausted. And like every three or four days I'm starving. Eating like every two or three hours. And then every other day I feel good, not hungry too often, and have energy. Sooooo weird!!

Usually, I order a latte with a sugar free Syrup (of which they have quite a few) and skim milk. My goto is sugar free vanilla latte with skim - hot or iced. I have been known in the morning to get two shots of espresso in a large cold cup with ice and then I pour in a caramel Premier Protein pre-mixed shake. (That's a go to Breakfast when I'm out of town and on the road. You can do that with the chocolate or vanilla premix as well.)
The coconut milk and almond milk they use is sweetened, so I just stick with skim.

Yeah there are a lot of kids who work there who just don't care. Some baristas are great, some not so much. The Starbucks app is a good place to check as well. I find it much more accurate!

WOO HOO! As of my doctor's appointment, I no longer have high blood pressure and am no longer pre-diabetic!
And, I have an appointment in early November with my pulmonologist to see if they can take me off my CPAP machine.
Plenty more weight to lose, but my health has improved dramatically already.
