I pureed Soups and had refried Beans and super smashed up egg salad. I also ate a lot of hummus during that stage. You can also try ricotta cheese.

I definitely didn't have bland food. I put Sriracha on everything. Refried Beans, I topped with plain Greek yogurt that was mixed with chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder. There are a lot of foods that have flavor in the Puree stage. Think texture not flavor! I liked cream of wheat with banana baby food mixed in, it was actually really flavorful.

Definitely ask your team. I had to stop taking it at least 24 hours before surgery. You are also supposed to wean yourself off of it instead of stopping cold turkey so keep that in mind

Soon2BHealthyAggie reacted to MissMac in Hard Boiled Eggs
This works for me for hard-boiled eggs:
I put my eggs in the pot with a teaspoon of salt and cover them with hot Water from the tap. I cover it and bring it to a rolling boil for a couple of minutes. I turn the heat off and leave it covered. I let it sit for at twenty minutes +-, and then exchange the hot Water for cold water to stop the eggs from cooking any further.
To crack them, I tap both ends of the egg and then roll it against the inside of the pan to break up the rest of the shell. I will peel them under the water in the pot, or under running cold water. It is the same concept as comment #10 where you are effectively creating shell shock to separate the membrane from the egg. Because of the salt, the shell should separate in large pieces and not stubborn little bits.
If the eggs get cold before they are shelled, I put them in a bowl of very hot or boiled water to create the same process of shell shock. Sometimes if I want a warm boiled egg and not a cold one, I plunge it into hot water for a few minutes before I eat it.
If you want to scoop out the middle for deviled eggs, let the peeled whole egg cool down first. It will be much easier to cut and scoop.

Soon2BHealthyAggie reacted to LizzieBeezWax in Too Fat To Fly
Everyone who knows me knows how close I am to my mom. She is my sounding board, my confidant, my cheerleader.
For as long as I remember she’s told me: “All I want is for you to spread your wings fly.” She’s wanted me to fly, told me to fly, done all she can to help me fly.
Before, I didn’t realize how out of control I was – of my life, of my destiny, of my world, and of the world around me. I did not realize how little, we as people, have control of. I didn’t realize how very young I was compared to how old I felt.
I did not realize it Before. Not until After did I understand life makes us no promises. I did not realize that nothing last forever – not really. In my wide-eyed, naiveté I did not realize the fragility of life and of people – not really. I didn’t understand (truly understand) that strongest of us fall. That othing last forever.
That came into sharp focus on November 14, 2014.
In September 2014, I was 24-years-old and over 300 pounds. I wasn’t happy, but I wasn’t miserable. I was cute, but I was safe. I was the funny one, the extrovert, the wingman to skinnier, prettier friends. I was comfortable. I was invisible. I was fun in social situations. I could laugh at myself – or lash out if I needed to.
I had job I enjoyed, family and friends I loved, and I had just started graduate school. My life was going somewhere. I was going somewhere.
My heart was shattered on September 28, 2014. My father was rushed to the hospital for pneumonia. Or so I thought.
“I have lung cancer,” he told me. His voice shook in a very un-Frank Meyer way. But cancer is not something that would happen to my family. It would only happen to others less fortunate than I. By the time he died sex weeks later, we knew it had spread to his brain and his bones. He had one treatment and never got out of bed.
I did not realize before the black, acidic six-letter word left his mouth how out of control I was. Not until I was helping my 62-year-old mother care for my dying father in home hospice. Not until I watched him deteriorate of the course of 6 weeks, while attending school at night and working full-time. Not until finally watching him die 3 days after my 25th birthday. Not until I heard the faceless ghosts leave my home with the shell of what used to be my father in a bag at eleven at night. Not until I truly lost what was important – something I could never get back – did I understand.
Before my world was pulled from under me I had considered weight loss surgery, though never seriously.
Monday, December 29th, 2014, I had my first appointment.
“I want you to fly,” my mother told me. But I was too fat to fly.
Because even in grief, I was furious with my father. He was my rock, my constant – but he was not a healthy person. He ate poorly his entire life and he smoked for forty years (two thirds of his). Even today, I am hurt and angry that for eleven years of my life he chose to slowly kill himself.
At no point did he look at me – his daughter and only child – and think I was worth more than these choices? Did the food and the cigarettes mean more to him than I did?
Rationally, I understand my dad did not abandon me. But he is not here.
Rationally, I understand that I am now 26, an adult and in control of my future. But there are times when I am 5 years old and begging him to come back.
My father was 66 when he passed. I never thought of 33 as being middle-aged.
At 25, I was not going to by middle-aged at 12.
July 20, 2015 I had gastric sleeve surgery.
There are things in this world worth fighting for. My own health is work fighting for. My own happiness is worth fighting for.I am worth fighting for
“I want you to fly,” my mother told me. And I know now my feet will never touch the ground again.

My surgeon doesn't even do the pre-op diet because he says studies have not shown that it reduces your liver size enough to make a real difference.

I've lost 112 pounds (19 since surgery 4 weeks ago and 93 on my own over the past year) and I've done nothing but aqua exercises, the recumbent bike, and walking. I do Aqua bootcamp 2-4 times a week and I burn 600-800 calories per session. It is an absolute blast and the Water provides great resistance when you are running in the Water.< /p>

Typically when a person has rapid weight loss, they tend to get gallstones. Gallstones and pain from a gallbladder attack are one of the most common "complications" of surgery, at least according to the doctors I've talked to.

I had a similar issue with my coordinator. I had to file a complaint with the office manager. After that, she was sweet at pie to me. I would definitely talk to someone over her about her attitude and ask them the 3 month question

Has anyone figured out how to clear notifications? I don't want to turn them off, but once I read them, the notification count on the outside of the app should go down or if I had a delete option. I love getting the notifications, but I hate having the little red dot on my iOS screen

Looking back I don't understand how I didn't realize I was so fat!

This is from today just after my visit to the gym. 1 year and 2 days since surgery. According to my surgeon's scale, it is a 112lbs difference since surgery. According to the gym scale it is 116lbs. But like someone else on here said, that's just a BM waiting to happen!
I can honestly say that the entire experience has been perception altering. I did not realize how much pain I was truly in on a daily basis. Most of my aches and pains are gone, high BP issues are gone, and the awful feeling when my blood sugar was too high is gone as well. Truly the best thing I have ever done for my health.

Yes dating is a crooked game...however it is the only game in town.
If you really run the numbers you will begin to realize just how hard it is to find the right person. You don't want young kids, they have to be free, and add to that you get to a certain point of responsibility where you expect financial accountability...that eliminates many people. Then there are those who have developed chemical dependencies, gambling problems, mommy issues, narcissism, Border Line Personality disorders, PTSS from war or other situations...The pool gets really shallow when you start thinking about all the people you want to exclude. So you create an "deal killer" list which removes 70% of potentials and then your choice is to settle or negotiate. And let's face it, even those who make the cut, just don't do it for us.
Its rare to find the right person. But if done well the search can be rewarding. So please don't get completely down on the process.
