itstimealready got a reaction from Hoppy123 in Unusual rapid weight after years post op?!
I had sleeve surgery in 2016 and got down to 160 pounds, then lost the last 30 doing Keto. I stayed at 130 pounds almost perfect for me for 3 years then all the sudden this covid quarantine has me 23 pounds weight gain in just a few months! I’m eating sweets like crazy and bread and just a complete carb fest I don’t know what has gotten into me but it’s scaring me.

Losing regain is tough (not to mention slow), but people manage to do it. Some people have had luck with intermittent fasting or Weight Watchers (their new plan sounds intriguing). Others go back to way they were eating in the first year or two after surgery - not all the way back to Protein Shakes and purees, but focusing on Protein first, then non-starchy veggies, and then, if you have room, maybe a small serving of fruit or "good" (like whole-grain) carb. If you do this method, you'll probably want to be mindful of calories as well. I still track mine at five years out - when I don't, my weight starts heading north pretty fast.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I was thinking the same thing because I am so secure in every other aspect of my life and the sudden show of insecurity would totally throw him and me off. This is the last mental battle I have to deal with on this journey. At the beginning I told myself I probably wouldn't have any plastic surgery, but starting to rethink it. Although I am 58, I'm fortunate to have a face of a 40 yr old. So to have the body of a 70 yr old, really throws me off! Again, thanks!

itstimealready got a reaction from linah in I'm terrified to give away my fat clothes now that I'm tiny!
Please help! I'm a collector not a hoarder. For decades I've curated a gorgeous wardrobe of flattering elegant clothing at every size for my body from 2 to 14. Now 2 years post surgery I'm a 2 yet again and after a LIFE of yo-yo-ing I'm terrified of donating it all in case it's harder to maintain than I think.
Whether my weight was going up or down one good thing was I always had lovely things to wear that fit my shape and I didn't have to spend the time or money on a wardrobe because I wear classic pieces that I buy on sale. Of course I always wanted to stay smaller but as we all know that's not always in our control. It drives me crazy when people say oh give your clothes away so that you can't go back to being fat as if we got fat logically instead of emotionally.
So if the surgery is indeed for life and I'm not going to gain a bunch of weight then I am completely on board for donating all of it if I'll never wear it again but I will be furious if three years later as has happened throughout my life i'm chubby again for whatever reason and have to go buy fat clothes again. I don't have the money for that.
With surgery I went from 215 to 160 but it took going "keto" (high fat low carb diet) to get to 135 where I am now. (having done the hCG diet multiple times in my life and lost lots of weight I am understandably very nervous about gaining again.) so what do you think the odds are keeping this weight off for life? Thank you for understanding this emotional time for me! (I just moved and can either store or donate as I don't have lots of room. Storing in a "pod" is way cheaper than replacing in a few years. Thank you for your wise encouragement.

Well, the reality is that many people DO regain some after a few years. I'd hate to see you pay for additional storage of things you *hopefully* will never need, but I can understand wanting to hold onto some of it. Size 2 is tiny and if I got there, I wouldn't hold my breath to stay there either
Could you just put them in boxes in the back of a closet or something? What if you donated just the biggest sizes, would that decrease the collection enough?

I completely understand what you are saying. I think most of us are afraid of gaining back the weight. I would probly just let go of a few of the lads are size items and keep the others. On another note, I am stuck for over 5 weeks at the same weight i am afraid I will not reach goal. Can you give me any pointers on how you finally broke through? What is that Keto thing you did? Thank you for any help you can give me

Many people do regain some weight 2+ years postop but unless you completely fall off the wagon, you'll probably never be your largest sizes again. If your wardrobe didn't sound so nice I'd recommend 14-6 but since it sounds high end, maybe sizes 14-10 just in case something goes sideways in the next 5-10 years.

Has anyone heard of places in Mexico or the Dominican Republic that offer plastic surgery at a much lower cost? I used to have a co-worker that went to the DR, stayed at a resort for plastic surgery for a week and it cost $7000. I doubt I'm going to be able to afford $22000!

I had a neck lift with muscle tightening, I had a Tummy Tuck with muscle repair, and a breast lift without an implant.
In the end it was about 13,500... I also had filler put in my lips which I love.
I'm going back in sept for fat to my cheeks and buttocks.

"If anything I've said is true" hahah. Girl I don't have time to sit around and make up stuff for the internet. Why would I make anything up? That's pretty silly don't you think...
    I had bypass.
    Then I had a sleeve.
    Then I had a stricture.
    I relapsed into anorexia.
    I have really bad dumping.
My food still gets stuck a lot.
    I sought therapy for anorexia/bulimia/Ednos.
    I sought more therapy.
I found a new way to think about weight and body image.
I gave up on dieting or caring about my weight.
    The end.
I'm not sure what you think my motivation for lying would be. But it's annoying you keep saying that about me on my posts. A lot of old vets were really mean to me and I let it get to me... I was really struggling last year. I could have used more support.
But whatever... I'll share some photos so those of you who want to know more about me can see that im a real person with a real story. Go back and read my old posts if you want. I don't really care. I'm here to help those who need advice. My own experience is just one of many.

Didnt go through all this to stop at the one yard line! God blessed me with a beautiful body that I have been covering in fat for decades. I am thrilled to be able to enjoy it's strength and beauty for the years I have left.
Was hoping this forum had a number for people who were experts on apres weight loss surgeons. I have tried to research myself but it's hard to see who's really good and specializes in this. the real self site is pretty good but nothing beats a recommendation. Thanks!

I am almost at goal! Took a lot longer than I expected but I am loving this new body! Not so much for the extra skin though. I want to start researching plastic surgeons to tighten up my tummy, arms and legs. I only lost about 70 pounds but it's jiggly for sure, not hanging over or anything though - so no way will insurance cover it. Anyone have great results with an affordable surgeon? I don;t mind going to Mexico or Central America to save some money either! Thanks~!

Has anyone heard of regaining skin elasticity? I a year out and lost oh I don't know only maybe 65 pounds but from a lifetime of yo-yo dieting and sunbathing I have lots of very loose skin. Other than surgery, I don't like the scars, have you heard of supplements or treatments that can get skin elasticity back?
I've heard of some kind of roller thing that people brag about but that's the only thing.

The best part about my sleeve is that I don't have to fad diet anymore.
Why not just eat dense Protein? Steak grilled chicken, lamb chops, pork chops, etc. You will be more satisfied for longer. All these resets programs focus on liquids. That might work for people with RNY, I don't know but it seems really counter productive for a sleever. Simple dense protein, just dense protein. The weight will come off.

Liquids go right through my sleeve and offer zero satisfaction and don't remind me of the most important part of my sleeve, besides the Gherlin removal, the restriction.

And once you are smaller 15 pounds is a lot of weight, it is at least one dress size, maybe 2. There is advantage in weighing yourself daily so if you are up say 5 pounds, you can stop it before it gets to be too much.
