I just want to wish you good luck. I have been heavy all of my life and I would've jumped at the opportunity to have WLS at 18. I think having it this early will be great because you will learn your new healthy habits that will carry you into adulthood. It will definitely make your 20s much easier Again, good luck to you!

I am almost 5 months out and I had a very similar experience. I didn't have any complications at all. It was easy for me to eat pureed foods- I limited myself. I even commented to my surgeon that I didn't feel restriction. That changed when I switched to chunky then regular foods. Once I started eating solids, I could feel the restriction. My doctor told me it is easier for the pureed/liquid to slide through whereas the solids take time. Restriction will come!

It's not recommended by some nutritionist (including mine) because it is a Protein blend. My NUT wants the first ingredient to be whey Protein whereas Premier's first ingredient is "protein blend".

I'm one of the ppl who called,lol. The first day I called I just (very politely) said I wanted to make sure my paperwork was received- which they said no it wasn't. So I called the next day, same thing- they said it was received this time so that calmed me down some. Then I made myself not call the next morning, but my coordinator called me around 1pm that day and told me I was approved!
Call them!!

I was going for the sleeve...until I found out I was diabetic. I am 1 week post op and have not taken diabetes medication since the day before surgery.

Yay! The first 4 days were very rough for me, but once you get past that, it gets better! (I am on day 14!!)

Waiting is very hard! I understand- I had to do a 6 month supervised diet before I could even be submitted to the insurance company! My dad is finally almost here (11/4), so the wait has been worth it. I am on my 13th day of my liquid pre-op diet today and it has been hard! I have only physically been hungry a small handful of times, but head hunger is real! I have made it through, without cheating at all, so I know you can do it! Good luck to you in your journey.

It will depend on your insurance policy. With many, you can be 35 or greater with comorbids to qualify, but which comorbids qualify you, again depends on your insurance. You should call your insurance company and get a copy of the policy for bariatric surgery.

First I would call the insurance company again. Ask them to look again, sometimes there are several places for them to look. I know this from experience! Tell them your surgeon's office said they submitted it. If they still can't find it, I'd call the surgeon's office.

Thank you all for responding back so quickly. After a lot of soul searching I have decided that I will go through with the surgery. This was not an easy decision but I started to remember that I never can seem to EVER get below 200. And the odds are not in my favor to keep it off. The only regrets I see from people is that they wish they had done it sooner. I put a lot of effort into going through all the list of items to get approved and am proud of where I am now but want to be sure that I continue on this journey. You are such a wonderful support system! Thank you so much. Since I am so close to 40 BMI I do not want to lose this opportunity.

Ok so I just spoke with the insurance company they said it was sent. They said I have 2 day turn around so we will see on Monday. They said on the paperwork surgery date of Dec 1st. I sure hope so!!!! Thanks everyone

My preop diet sounds the exactly the same! I have to use Bariatric Advantage for my Protein supplement (1 every 3-4 hrs). I am in the ATL, GA area.

Found out I was approved! I am a day behind you- I start preop diet on 10/21 and surgery on 11/4!

That is so exciting! Congratulations! I am hoping for November also. My insurance company has my paperwork so I am playing the waiting game right now waiting for approval.

I got my approval later this afternoon! my date is Nov 9th! All I had to do was give up! lol

It's going good. First 4 days were horrible. But I am ready for surgery!
