  1. I have it too. I did not have a machine at the time of surgery. They kept me over night and had me hooked to a monitor so whenever I stopped breathing an alarm would go off and wake me. It only went off like two times all night. Ask them details about what to expect after surgery and tell them your anxiety issues with the mask. Speaking of which have you looked into other mask? I know they have a ton of them out there now so if one isn't working for you maybe another would! Good-Luck!
  2. I stick to the appetizer menu for the most part . Sometimes I order soup, not because I don't eat "solid food" but because I can't eat near what I used to and a lot of it doesn't do so good reheated at home. I just now found Wendy's chili and it works very well, other then that I don't bother with fast food because there is nothing I want ( slaps forehead did I say that?!?)
  3. I am NOT laughing AT you but THAT was a hoot! "owned by it" never heard it put that was but I sure as heck understood it! :biggrin2: I no longer even try to eat bread. I could up til my thrid fill but no more. It just doesn't work for me any more.
  4. I was blessed and didn't have much pain either. I was only out of work a few days, I did sleep in the recliner two nights cause it was easier. I have to tell ya, I had more gas pain and general pain with my C-sections! I have heard that others have gone through more so I am sure the pain issues are very individual
  5. If you are ABLE to and WANTING to then I say heck yeah do the surgery! 100% personal choice but FOR ME and speaking ONLY for me....When I started this journey I was 315 pounds. I had dieted, exercised, lost weight. I went back to my old eating habits and regained the weight plus some every time. Somewhere on here I posted that I had "dieted" myself up to my highest weight and yes I really feel that way. I knew that once I hit 300 lbs I was not going to be able to do this by myself ( I know there are many people in this word who have lost weight without surgery, I don't feel I could have) You are so young, what a opportunity to have the Lap Band available!! I wish it was out there many a year ago. Research it, ask your doctor about it, go to a seminar then answer your own question! Good-Luck to you whatever you choose! :biggrin2:
  6. So when do I cut myself a break? I know with weight comes self esteem issues but dang! I have spent most of my life heavy. This means I have spent most of my life avoiding the issue of weight. You know, I didn't want to talk about clothes sizes, diet or what I had for dinner. I never wanted to draw attention to myself. Here I am 64 lbs down and I don't want to draw attention to that. I didn't even realize it. My husband and I were at the store when we ran into a member of our church. She was very nice, told me I looked good and WOW she sure could tell I had lost weight. I thanked her and kinda changed the subject, she went back to it asking how much I had lost. I answered and changed the subject, she went back to it, you get the idea. When we parted ways my DH said " Man you blew her off" I was shocked! " Was I rude"? He told me no that I wasn't rude but I sure did skirt around the whole weight issue, like I was uncomfortable with change. That just about knocked me over. I have so craved change in my life, I have prayed for this. I am so very happy with what I have done so far with this band! So why did I want so bad in the middle of that store to be talking about ANYTHING other then me? Weird huh?
  7. Waiting can be very hard yes, but use this time to read and learn! If you truly want this you will work it out! It took me 14 months from the time I went to my first seminar to having the surgery done. I am not saying it will take YOU that long, just saying I understand. There was a point that I was frustrated with the hoops I had to jump <insurance> but I am so glad I held on! The band has been more then worth it! Good- Luck to you! :cursing:
  8. Congrats!!! Good-Luck on your journey! Kay you will do wonderful! :cool2: A week later you will be like " I was worried for that?" lol Really
  9. Zannie I feel as you do! I CAN eat anything I want but very little of it. Something I was never able to do before the band. AT some point in my life I felt eating was "all or nothing" and nothing didn't happen very often! The Lapband tool is amazing!
  10. AMEN the head hunger can be a witch! But with time your not even thinking about food < really>:crying:
  11. I was going to ask about a water pill too
  12. Thanks ya'll for your replies! Heck no I have no plans on "speeding" anything up with another fill to soon! After my near death experience with SLIME I am very happy right where I am < Kidding about the near death, just felt that way>
  13. "welcome" now that's just funny! I hope any future initiations < to this band> involve male dancers and a pitcher of Margaritas jk....no I'm not
  14. I agree ! You know its not gonna be "easy" but until you go through it you truly don't know what it's all about. That's why I get so burned when I hear people say WLS is the "easy way out" Hello!!!! I haven't picked up on the "easy" part yet lol ! Good-Luck to you!
  15. Sounds to me like your "friend" can't stand the thought that you have made a discussion to better yourself. For me I don't even bother to talk about it. I just do my thang and know in the end I will be so very glad I did! Good-Luck
  16. WOW congrats on your 1 year and your awesome weight lose!!! I would be flattered too with such an offer! Well I am not one to feel comfortable in front of the camera the idea of maybe motivating someone else would be something to conceder. < For me> have you talked to your family about it yet? Most definitely a personal choice! But if you do it post the add so we can see!!! :biggrin2:
  17. <smh> People are such dorks! I am sorry you had to go back to that. Sounds very immature to me. The person passing out the cookies, does she have a weight problem? I know I have two heavy women ( ok I'm three) where I work and sometimes weight lose issues can become awkward. ( I don't even talk about it) Do you think your "friend" could be feeling threatened? You just hang in there babe and when your able to eat again YOU be the one passing out the soy chips and hummus ! <wink>
  18. Ok I have read up on "PB" and "Slime" and I get it. Up until now I have been lucky not to have experienced either and I realize it was 100% my fault. :tt1: My 15 year old had her tonsils out the other day and I have been kinda running on lack of sleep and good judgement. (She's having a hard time) My lack of judgement yesterday evening had me eating <not chewing> and walking around the house doing "stuff" then it hit, the PAIN from hell that increased with every millisecond. I couldn't swallow, heck I wasn't sure I could breath. A wee bit of panic kicked in, I paced, rubbed my chest, my DH rubbed my back and then I had a flash back to my *Party Days* "Lord please , If I live through this I will NEVER, NEVER do it again" lol Without notice I was Linda Blair and shot saliva out of my mouth and to the tile floor <sorry gross> Then a peace came over me "euphoria" if you will. I was in a fog of pure ecstasy and delight when I was brought back to reality with the vision of my DH cleaning the floor and asking "Are you alright now?' < bless him> Lesson learned!!! So ummm is that how it always is? The slime? I had pictured drool flowing from my mouth to my neck and other body parts, not shooting out a large mass of yuck! Neither here nor there I guess, I lived through it, realized my mistakes and promised myself " I will NEVER, NEVER do it again!
  19. Ditto my comment up there Mrsflipflops you really are something special and I wish you the best of luck!
  20. Ok Kate that made me both laugh and become scared lol. I think when I go out tomorrow looking for bras I will bypass the sales person and just take one of every size in the fitting room. ( I say that but I can bypass A-C ) At this point I am not looking for anything pretty just practical..ok industrial even. I just want to be able to adjust the straps like a pulley "higher, higher, higher"! <wink>
  21. (I've done that before and it's not the proudest moment! You don't know shame until you have a police escort on a motorcycle who yells "That's the last one" as you cross the finish line!!) Laughing, laughing, laughing!! No shame in being last! Being there was pretty dang amazing! (and not just watching like I might have been) As for these boards.... What seems like something scary can be very educational and inspirational! Read the positive ones too! They can truly be motivating and up lifting. Remember when in doubt (or pain) always call your doctor to be safe! :cursing:
  22. "Almost as if my thighs have their OWN thighs!!! HTF did that happen??! Is it going to get better?" I am rolling here laughing!!! Bless your heart I hear ya. I looked in the mirror in the past and would go "ewwww" now I look in the mirror and go "EWWWWWW" lol The only thing I take comfort in at this time is the fact that clothed it works  :cryin: And bras.....OMG... I have been battling with mine for the past week or two. Putting one on taking it off putting one on taking it off. I would look in the mirror and be like "What the hell is wrong with these things, they ain't working like they used to" ( the bras)<laughing> then it dawns on my that duh I have lost 60 lbs and maybe I should get new ones? ( bras) Then back to the mirror ewwwww. Well we did this for health reasons < right?> ( looks around) lol the "new" old skin is just a side effect...in an ewww kinda way lol  :cursing:
  23. You are amazing! You have made a TON of sacrifices and I think that is really something. You have every right to be frustrated at times but as a caregiver you lay the guilt on yourself too. You need to pat yourself on the back and allow yourself the right to be tired and or irritated when it happens. My husband and I are caregivers for both his mother and mine (they both live with us) this is not my post so I won't go on and on about my situation but I do know and understand that if you do not allow yourself a break and not be your own worst critic the road becomes longer, darker and the bumps turn into POT HOLES!!!! You my dear are really something special <takes hat off to you>
