Body Image issues, Mental Health, Post Honeymoon Phase...Life
As a woman who has been on antidepressants for 25 years, and has a minor in Psychology, and am also certified to teach it, I feel really knowledgeable about the subject. I do see a psychiatrist now for my antidepressants. I used to get them from my general doctor. I love my shrink. He knows I love physiology and I love the brain and it's chemistry. I highly suggest you get back on your meds. Do some reading up on chemicals in the brain and how meds work. It seems as though your depression did not only come from being overweight. It is time to get back on them, in my opinion. See how that works for you. I can certainly understand the high you got from losing all the weight. I feel as if I am on one and I am only a month out. How about looking for a support group in your area? It would be good for you socially. It will get you out of the house once more a month. Meet friends from here that live nearby or from a support group and go walking or exercising. Stay on this site for support. Hang in there!!!! I know it will get better, just find what will make it better and stick to it!!

when do you feel normal eating again (small portions still)?
i am just now getting to eat pureed food... mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, oatmeal, applesauce. i have had a bite of chicken and it does feel very heavy. i dont think my stomach is ready for meat yet. i am not allowed to have it for 2 more weeks. i wonder what the difference is, i.e., why mine is so conservative. i know i have staples and glue holding my stomach together. does anyone else know what is holding theirs together?

Flushed face
I always get fever when I have any surgery. Take your temp. If it's below 101 you should be fine but if it's higher call doc. Fever made me feel like death.

Egg Protein vs. Whey
Whey protein goes thru your system quicker than egg and casein protein. Thus, the latter makes you feel full longer.

No energy
I was sleeved on the 17th. I have occasionally felt I had no energy but not very often. I take B12 prescription nose spray weekly. I take 3 calcium chewable a and 2 multivitamins, which come with my nose spray. I feel pretty darn good.

To tell or not to tell?
I was very lucky. I told lots of people and every single one was supportive. I think that was rare. I wouldn't have cared if they weren't supportive. My decision had been made and their opinion would not have mattered to me.

Just learned my surgeon doesn't give pain meds after surgery!
I have had two major knee surgeries and talk about pain!!!!! I was taught to stay ahead of the pain and take pain meds as often as prescribed. I did that. I needed that. With my sleeve, I followed the same advice. Used my morphine pump a lot the first day. Then hydrocodone. When I left hospital I felt great and didn't have pain really. Yes, stomach was sore, but I wouldn't say painful. Good idea about the PCP. I also agree that if you were in a lot of pain in the hospital you would probably get something.

I just love the weight loss surgery podcast!
Is it more for pre op people?

people not educating themselves
It seems to me from all my reading on here that not all offices do a good job. I am so lucky to have a wonderful doc and staff. I was given paperwork that detailed instructions, diet, pre op, first 7 weeks post op. I read and read and highlighted and highlighted and took notes on that paperwork. I agree, some people don't do their homework and don't read what was given to them. You have to take responsibility yourself, it is your life and surgery and body. Be sure you get educated, hopefully by doc and NUT, and if not educate yourself. I would be Leary of a doctors office that didn't give me ALL the info I needed personally. This is a GREAT place to ask questions!!!!!! I love the people here. I knew just what to expect and feel after surgery. I was so prepared!!!!

Weightlifting Post Surgery
i cannot do weights until 6 weeks out. i honestly feel if you start doing weights after you are healed, you will have more energy, not less. exercise gives us energy. i think you will feel great, both physically and mentally.
