  1. mary - you are very right, which is why i responded to kellie too... shoegirl -- i did wind up talking to their office. however, when you say "to the T" i do agree, but we wouldn't be having this surgery in the first place if we could control what we eat all the time, so people slip up. i did more than the usual, and it is messed up... i am going to talk to a doctor in my family and make sure everything is ok before i go in, i do not want to risk my life.
  2. lol thanks tulip, i wasn't trying to be rude or anything..
  3. Well, I would read this board with caution too, I have seen a lot of things on here that are not medically sound, and posters state them as fact like "this is what you should do". But for tips and experiences, yeah, it's great. I'm hoping stuff getting stuck won't be an issue, but I will buy pineapple juice just in case. I love to exercise, but right now my knee is so bad that I can not. I am hoping that once I start getting weight off, I will be able to return to the gym.
  4. uh, pickedafoe - where'd you get that list? 1972?
  5. good luck to you too!!!
  6. What do you mean by you felt like you were being punched in the chest? Were you in any danger? How long did the pain last? Is it painful when stuff gets stuck? What about sticky or bready stuff... can this be dangerous? Thank you all for your help!!
  7. ahhhh i'm 2 days away!
  8. My sh!tty one is dying, so I'm going to have to buy something soon... I think I still want that Waring Pro - I'm going to have to find a store that sells it, and its coupons...
  9. yeah, it's always been the face for me too. but the people i wind up dating usually are not fat.
  10. ugh, i'm really nervous. i'm going to ask my cousin, who is a doctor. thank you all for your input, let me know ifd you have more. kellie, i'm worried that you say you go in with a full stomach - in emergency surgery it cannot be helped, but if you are planning for a surgery, they tell you not to eat so you don't aspirate and choke on your own vomit... i know i'm one to talk, since it's totally contradictory to what i'm saying here, but you really should follow dr's instructions more, and ask them why, so you know ... you know?
  11. Kellie - the reason you're supposed to have an empty stomach in surgery isn't so people don't have to clean up your vomit, it's so you don't aspirate. make33 - first off, banding is not necessarily forever, 'cause it can be removed, but i do realize what a commitment it is, i have been eating fine and haven't been going back to any "ways" (i do overeat, but for the most part, i eat very healthfully anyway, i've never liked fast food, and i cook mainly Beans and vegetables -- i'm not a vegan, i'm a vegetarian) -- i've been eating like a normal person, no large portions, but the trouble is that's not a liquid diet.
  12. I did see that -- what I'm talking about is similar, but a bit different... also, the ones with new posts rise to the top --- but thanks miztrniceguy!
  13. I'd go to be looked over by another doc... good luck and stay healthy!
  14. Wayne & Candy - both your responses to me are that I'm somehow shaky in my religion if I was offended by your posts? That's stupid. Would you say to someone in the 1950s that when they were told they had to pray in school, it was their problem if they didn't want to, because they were shaky in their religion? I will repeat, AGAIN -- I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH ANYONE'S RELIGION... I have seen other people's religious posts on this board... no problem at all... this is America, we have freedom of religion here! What I am saying (and how Wayne can not see this, since they were his own words, is beyond me), is that when you say I'm going to heaven because of whose I am, and it is well known that a lot of Christians think other faiths are going to hell because they haven't "accepted Jesus" -- I find that offensive. I was going to give Wayne the benefit of the doubt, but then both Candy & Wayne came on spouting crap about how I must be shaky if I find it offensive. And for what it's worth, Candy, I wasn't offended by your post so much as I was saying don't think like that, we have many controls over our lives... don't just accept something, get the best doctors and such.... Again, I'm just here for help..
  15. Gadgetlady -- the fetus is a fetus... it's the woman's body and her choice. To reply to what sweethot said (what alyson just replied to) - that's ignorance right there, it isn't true.
  16. I too, understand very much what I'm talking about. Having not only studied it, but actually having a severe form of it. Addiction is not a form of OCD -- it can be there with it, and the addiction can be linked to it... But just saying "oh I'm so OCD about this doesn't actually mean it is OCD... people use it today very loosely -- the above posters seemed like they were, and that they did not actually have the disorder -- but that may be incorrect.
  17. And of course there are degrees... I have severe OCD, there are people with mild OCD, who may not need a doctor all the time, but they've usually needed to see one at some point, and probably will again...
  18. Well, it's not really about agreeing or disagreeing... if you have the chemical imbalance that is OCD, you should get help. Yes, there are some people who aren't always in therapy, but to get diagnosed you had to have one point seen a doctor... a lot of people with OCD need medication. Besides, my point was calling an obsession OCD... obsessions that people have sometimes and OCD are very different things.
  19. shortgal, just like you, i didn't come here to argue, just came for support/information. i understand you not taking that from his comment, but it is well known that there are people who believe if you don't believe in jesus you're going to hell, and he said he is going to heaven because he does believe... anyway - i see you were banded recently - how is it going so far? my surgery is soon, as you saw from the other thread we spoke on... i'm excited/nervous/want it to be a year from now so i'm thinner already!
  20. Shortgal - I have no problem with Wayne talking about his faith, that's fine... I have a problem with him saying that he is going to heaven because of whose he is... which DOES infer, as I explained, that others would not be going to heaven...
  21. You can't be pro-choice only in cases of danger -- the whole point is you need to protect a woman's RIGHT to do what she needs to with her body, because once you start placing limits on it, that's when the unjust restrictions start. I have written many a thesis on this subject and don't view it as opinion -- it is basic human right, and though it has no place in the political spectrum, unfortunately we need the Constitution on our side so that our rights can be protected. Everyone may be entitled to their own opinion, but no one is entitled to control over another's body and health and life.
  22. I have to point out that you are using OCD and obsessive/compulsive very loosely here... if you actually have OCD, you definitely need to see a psychiatrist/psychologist. I know people in general use it out of context, but you really should put a finger on what's wrong..
  23. above you said you were eating creams... what do you mean by that? you shouldn't eat high fat things. make sure you also follow up with a US surgeon to make sure your surgery went ok... it sounds like you didn't havemuch communication with the doctor.... I would get a full check up and make sure all went welll
  24. Thanks Dave! I'm not big on pureeing vegetables, but the cauliflower idea sounds great!
