Is anyone's goal weight higher than the BMI chart weight?
My doctor said he'd like to see me at 140lbs. This puts me right at the normal/over weight range. I'm shooting for 130 but would be happy at 135. These number sound a little crazy but after reaching 165lbs (today) those numbers seam realistic to me now. My BMI today is 30.2

How long before a BM? 9 days post op
My bowels woke up around 7 days PO. It was all liquid. Walking will help wake them up and get things moving. Gas is a sign that they're returning. Just be careful you're getting to the "don't trust a fart" period Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Post Surgery Home Care
You can't drive while you're on pain meds. I took pain meds 1 week post op so 1 week for her to help you would be sufficient.

I am also curious to know the answer to this question. I am not there yet but trying to prepare. I'm going in on April 21st. And I liked the idea of baby food during that stage also. You can have Stage 1-2 .. You may not like the taste though.

My NSV.. My husband goes with me to the gym. He does a lot of free weight exercises laying down on a weight bench. The first time I went months ago I had to roll off the side of the bench. After that embarrassing episode he has helped me get up. Today I was able sit up on my own!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Cooking for family pre&post op
My husband is a fit junk food junkie.. The only vegetables he will eat are corn & potatoes.. Pre op we basically ate the same thing Post op:: I cook the main meat of the meal for all of us. My healthy sides mixed with his not so healthy choices. The thing is, I usually don't get much of the sides in after eating the meat.

What if BMI falls >40 on pre-op diet?
My nut told me not to lose too much during my 6 month supervised diet. (Not to fall below bmi 35) I lost 5-7 lbs during that time. The other thing was I couldn't gain more than 5lbs either so it was more of a maintaining period. Once I was approved all bets were off. I lost 10lbs on the 2 week pre-op diet. I have a slew of co-morbidities

Food Selections
@@darima77 I'm about 11 weeks out. Eating out at restaurants is a little tricky. I tend to stay with shrimp, chicken or beef. I can't eat a lot so most of the time I take a lot home. No Pasta, Soups or salads. Always stick with a Protein. I check the appetizers and kids meals first. If there isn't anything that fits my plan I order from the regular menu. Some restaurants let you share a plate either for free or a small charge. I have had some popcorn with no issues. It was only 20 cal for 1 cup so I didn't feel like I was cheating. (No added butter) I have had cashews and peanuts with no issues. Almonds didn't settle to well the time I tried them. I will try again. Be sure to chew like crazy
