  1. I was allowed coffee immediately. It really just depends on your medical team. Sticking to decaf sounds wise for now, good thinking!
  2. Throwing up blood doesn't sound right? That'd be a serious cause for concern. Speak to your doctor ASAP!
  3. I wasn't restricted from tea/coffee, in fact had it the very next day after surgery. Go with what your medical team says!
  4. Happy surgiversary! You look great, I'm glad you're enjoying life.
  5. It sounds like you have dealt with a lot but look where you are now! Well done to you.
  6. Kate, congratulations!!! So happy for you and it was lovely to talk to you today.
  7. I'm on pureed at the moment, I don't feel the hunger & as yet have not felt the restriction of my meals. I'm waiting to see if that changes on soft foods. Perhaps just time your meals? This is what I am now doing. If it takes longer than half an hour to eat my pureed meal, I stop.
  8. I've been told that at the liquid/pureed stage you needn't worry about how much you should be eating. Only when you move on to your everyday diet eventually do you need to consider your portions. Right now, you're still healing, it's likely you won't get in a lot of calories so every little helps, if you can stomach the broth and don't feel tired of eating/feel full, just go for it.
  9. Congrats on your 2 year surgiversary! Great tips and advice, I will make a mental of these.
  10. Congratulations, what tremendous loss.
  11. Thanks all! I will try half teaspoon!
  12. I just started pureeds today but am having some issues -- I feel like my food is stuck in my chest, it feels like a pressure on my chest. I did search around and it seems the advice is to eat slowly and small spoonfuls; I made sure I waited 1-2 mins between bites & ate with a teaspoon. Possibly overeating? I can't feel the fullness/restriction yet (2 weeks out today), so could it be a sign of eating more than my new stomach needed? Any advice/help would be great. Has anyone else experienced this recently?
  13. Wow, I'd be freaking out too! Call the hospital/surgeon. Hope it's just a mistake...
  14. Looking great, well done! Hope your knees feel better.
  15. 30lbs in 19 days is brilliant. Looks like you're doing a great job, very happy for you!
  16. Pureed veggies is good, did you add something to the turkey meatball like a sauce? At this stage it's probably best to add a little gravy or tomato-based sauce to make it more pureed. Are you allowed eggs? Maybe some oatmeal etc.
  17. That'd be the gas. Walking & peppermint tea will help. If allowed, maybe a Gas-X/Windeze. It will go away soon and you'll be feeling a lot better!
  18. I was sleeved on the 30th. Moving onto pureed tomorrow, can't come fast enough -- absolutely sick of soup!
  19. Congratulations. Wonderful results!
  20. It really helps to just make the decision and tell people after and say, 'Well, I wasn't asking for an opinion, I already made up my mind.' If you're resolute on doing this, nothing will change your mind. Don't let anyone else even be a factor on your journey.
  21. Have been making rice with cauliflower for years, love it! Thanks for the input everyone.
  22. As everyone else says, just give it time.
