I told nobody except my live-in BF. I'm extremely private and prefer not to discuss health issues. I told work I needed to have surgery (they can't ask what kind) and took 2 weeks PTO. I was worried about having to answer a bunch of questions from friends & family but it's amazing how little people seem to pay attention to what I'm eating when out to dinner, etc. Only waitstaff seem concerned and I usually say "I had a big lunch" or "I'm looking forward to yummy leftovers for lunch tomorrow." And even though I've lost almost 75 lbs in 5 months nobody seems shocked nor asks a lot of questions. I would advise newbies to be very selective with whom you tell, because you can't un-tell afterwards and there is no guarantee that folks won't be concerned, etc. We have lived most of our lives battling weight issues and we are the ones that have done the extensive research -- others who are not in the same position may simply not understand our choice.

Hello, I'm new and on my week 3 of 12 week classes at Kaiser. We were told to get our needed bariatric Vitamins and minerals etc. because of other health issues, I've gone all organic and non gmo to avoid any added chemicals or synthetics.
Can anyone help me with advice on what to take that is either non gmo or organic for the needed vitamins and minerals?

Has anyone known anyone who has gone from the sleeve to duodenal switch? I am considering it, but I am still doing research. Any comments or information would be appreciated.

I have heard that insurance will cover some skin removal procedures if there were medical complications due to the excess skin, but havent actually known anyone with first hand knowledge.
Has anyone else see insurance cover it?

Wondering if you could tell me about your experiences and current results post op more than 5 or so years. I have read studies and heard that the first 2-3 post op go well. If it's after 5 years that the weight seems to creep back. In any case I would like to hear your stories and tips for long term success.

I've done a lot of reading about GENEPRO GEN2 Protein Powder and it seems like a terrific way to meet my Protein goals each day. The company said it is tasteless and odorless and can be mixed in hot or cold foods.
Has anyone used it? Is it actually tasteless? I have a really difficult time getting enough protein each day so this might be an answer.
If you have used it what do you typically mix it with? Do you like it?

I'm debating trying poshmark for some of my nicer pieces. Has anyone had luck with them?

I wonder if anyone is experiencing a massive change in their metabolism. Naturally after being reduced to incredibly low calories, are people able to even continue weight loss once moving forward to a normal diet consisting of 1000+ calories. I find myself only able to lose weight when I am eating as little as 800 calories and I feel horrible since I am at the gym 3 times a week and hiking on the weekends. Doesn't seem to make sense but I read it is possible to permanently alter your rate. I had mine tested by a dietician and trainer and I should be at 1,773 and it seems a) almost impossible to eat that amount of food (even at 1.5 years out) and b.) I have to still focus on the Protein more than carbs to sustain my workouts.
Anyone else struggling here?

And now that I'm down 109 lbs, certainly no one is complaining!

Is it OK to smoke weed? I know cigarettes is bad but it's weed OK? In like pot. Lbs

The less people you tell the less drama you have in your life. Thank God my husband made me promise not to tell as he is very private. All you need to say is I am eating healthy, and move around between people and even dump the food in the trash. Since we lost weight, we share a plate, and no one even questions that we are eating healthy to maintain our weight loss. Be strong, this is about you!!

Beans! So many assortments of Beans split pea is my favorite. You can have Greek yogurt, and cottage cheese too right? I talked to my dietician about all the Beans I'd rather eat than meats.
