Any suggestionson cold medicine

Hi everyone so I'm 5 weeks post surgery and caught a cold bad sore throat and cough. Am I able to take regular cold medicine? Just didn't know doesn't aure. Thanks all.

    I took Mucinex Cold and congestion liquid. It really helped me. Tylenol Cold didn't work for me.
